View 3 RepliesI don't know why this is happening but all of a sudden my windows 7 keeps playing the logon and logoff sounds back to back and constantly. I've rebooted my computer to no avail. I tried running a bunch of "Microsoft Fixit" tools and nothing works. Some recent changes to my system include the following:I recently cleared the CMOS RTC RAM data in order to reset the BIOS password.(Don't know if that could cause the type of problem I'm having now, but if it is, there's no indication of it in Action center and as I mentioned, trouble-shooting tools don't show any problems.)

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a really strange issue with Internet Explorer 9. 95% of the time I launch it and everything is pretty much instant. However occasionally it will hang for a few secs on 'waiting for reply'. Tends to happen to all web pages but more specifically noticed it on Google.com and Yahoo.com. It never used to be this way. I have a fibre to cabinet broadband connection and everything is fast. I cannot pinpoint when this started happening. Nothing new on the laptop has been installed, some windows updates a couple weeks ago but in the aftermath of installing these all was fine.
The problem may of existed a lot longer but I had not noticed. The really strange thing is it tends to manifest itself most after poking around in the network/sharing center. I am always looking at the strength of the wifi connection and checking the connected speed of the 5g wifi. Tends to happen most after I've been in here and then launch internet explorer. Slight pause of 3 or 4 seconds and then the page is there (google being my homepage). But not every time. Things I have tried is clearing the IE cache, flush DNS. I could change the DNS settings but namebench revealed my current ones were fastest. Mozilla seems to be responsive all the time. So I am thinking it's more IE9 only showing this odd behaviour. Other than that all is good on the laptop, no other problems.
How do I stop Windows Explorer.exe from playing log off sound, keeping computer from shutting down?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have some workstations set up to log in automatically on startup. Users of these workstations might also want to log in using their own domain credentials.
I want users to be able to log off and log in using their own credentials. I would also like for the system to log in automatically after a set period of time following a logoff.
Is there some option in Windows that can set the system to log in automatically after a period of inactivity at the logon screen?
I used the upgrade process in Windows 7 to go to Windows 7 from Vista. Everything works well except when I try to sleep (close the lid on laptop) or logoff. The system freezes sometimes and I have to force the system down with a power off.
It appears that the first attempt usually works. The next logoff/sleep is when the problem appears.
I have removed all third party software and the problem still occurs.
I updated to latest bios from Compaq for CQ70-134CA Laptop. No luck.
I changed the Power Plan to disable the sleep mode when the lid is closed. The system still freezes when the system goes into sleep mode after the set timeout.
I changed the Power Plan so that the hard drive does not go in power saving mode. Finally the system is stable but never goes into sleep mode.
Does anyone out there think that the hard disk going into Power Saving mode is the cause of this problem?
Any ideas out there?
Currently when I add the restart.bat (shutdown -r -f -t 0) into gpedit.msc -> User Configuration -> Windows Settings -> Scripts -> Logoff, there is like a 20 seconds delay. So the student would click logoff and then it would show the login screen for ~20 seconds before restarting. The ~20 seconds is problematic when another student types in her account credentials and starts logging in, only to have the computer restart in the the middle of the profile loading.
These computer are Windows 7 Enterprise 64 bit on windows domain environment. CPU is QuadCore, with no programs running. I have no control over the domain stuff, only able to bind computers to the domain.
i'm having problems with my new webbook. the sound is working in general, wma files play and I can hear sound when streaming etc but when I try and play a dvd I get no sound. i thought it was the external dvd player so I reinstalled the driver with the windows 7 driver, installed the latest driver for the DVD software for Win 7 no luck, then someone suggested DivX so I installed that still no luck.
on the DivX website it suggests that you install this software to see if you have the correct codec, did that and it says i have the correct codec installed to play the specific file, (see here DivX Support)
so while looking here i read about issues with realtek drivers so I installed the latest driver for win 7 I thinkn its R2.37 and still no luck.
Is there some setting in the Sound Manager that i need to adjust.
Just wondering if anyone has come across this before.as part of our logoff script we run a backup application to backup users data to the network. In XP we never had a problem, in Windows 7 a few power users have come across a problem. If they have lots of data that's changed, when the script runs (runs an application called SyncbackSE), while it runs fine, if it gets to 10 minutes and it is still running, then windows (I'm presuming it's windows doing this) just stops it running and finishes the logging off of the user without finishing the back. Is there somewhere that this can checked/set?
Sound is playing very fast, sounds like the Chipmunks. Intel(R) D945GCCR (integrated on motherboard I believe) OS: Windows 7 x32, I have uninstalled and reinstalled drivers and have looked for updated drivers and found none. Problem still persists.

View 1 Replies View RelatedA couple of months ago, I bought a new graphics card: a Nvidia 560GTX (Gigabyte GV-NV56GOC) and a new PSU (Corsair CX500 V2 Builder Series, 500 W) to run it and after 3 weeks the PC began to fail with the 116 error. At the begining it crashed only at Windows 7 blue starting screen (after the loading screen with win logo and a progress bar). It happened once every 4 or 5 days. After a month it was almost imposible to run unless starting in "FailSafe Mode" and began to crash in the desktop in idle. I tested it with another drivers, clean installs, changing cabes, etc... and nothing worked, only with another graphics card (an old nvidia 220GT wich came with the PC) and worked properly so I decided so send the card in RMA.
A couple of days ago the seller sent me an email saying that they couldn't find any issue with the 560GTX and they sent the card to Gigabyte to further testing (I wil have to wait 20-30 days to have more info). Yesterday my PC with the old card (the 220GT) began to fail while playing Skyrim with a grey screen and a strange buzz in the speakers. After 2 seconds it restarts saying that there was an system error bccode 116. Today it has crashed 4 times in 5 hours while playing (same as yesterday), "youtubbing" or (I think, but not sure than) in idle with a white screen and a strange buzz in the speakers, but not starting like with the 560GTX.
I had to change my HDD a month ago too so I tested in 2 diferent HDDs, drivers are OK and I guess that the PSU is enough for the new card and more than enough with the old one. I also ran sfc.exe /scannow witho no problems.I'm running Windows Home Premium x64 (Service Pack 1) OEM, reinstalled one or 2 months ago. I will attach minidump files with errors of both cards.
i was facing problem while shutting down my PC, since few days. it always shows the window of force log off. simultaneously i found in between my work system get hang and the task manager also become irresponsible.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have set up my surround sound 5.1 speakers recently.I went into the Realtek HD Audio Manager, and set it to use "5.1 surround sound",but as I try to play music, sound only comes through the front speakers.I have tried looking through all sorts of settings, and cant find what I could have set wrong.I have tested the rear speakers in the sound manager, and it plays sound through the rear speakers in the tests, but Itunes, and internet explorer do not play sound through the rear speakers. If I change the defult device in the second screenshot to use Realtek Digital output, no sound comes out at all.

View 1 Replies View RelatedMy friend told me about this game "Tribes" It's a fantasy shooting game. Requires a pretty good PC to run it on "very high" which i did. I didnt really have any lags or anything. Smooth gaming...
After 45min - 1hour playing this game. My pc suddenly starts to make this sound like it's "sparks" and my pc turns black for 2 - 4 secs. It did this 3 - 4 times in a row with 5 - 10 sec between. So i closed the game fast as possible and saw my graphic card running 70 degrease. My friend told me to take my cover on the side off to get a better airflow. I did it reduced it with 3 - 4 degrease.
With Cover on my PC runs 45 degrease with regular programs open. (Windows live messenger, Curse Client) And 2 - 3 internet browsers - Without my cover it runs 41 - 43 degrease. (My side cover got a 200x40 fan running on the side)
My question is: What could cause these blackouts and the sparkling?? "Only tried this 1 time playing Tribes. I also got BF3 no problems playing that game" Is 40 - 45 degrease to high running now game? Does my PC suck lots of dust in without a side cover on? Could my side fan be pushing air away from my GPU?? (causing the high degrease)
I have a job where I constantly say the same stupid line when I answer the phone. Its a software phone and what I want to do is, record my greeting via the sound recorder, then play it back THROUGH the audio pickup as though I am speaking it through the microphone as usual, not through my computer speakers
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have been running windows 7 on my computer for quite some time and haven't had very many huge problems until recently. Now, sometimes when I start up my computer, it keeps on playing that warning sound that you hear whenever there is some sort of popup that tells you when something is wrong. But when it happens nothing ever pops up, and that warning sound plays nonstop every couple of seconds and it is driving me insane. I looked at task manager to see if there was some process that would be causing that error message and I found nothing. I also went to msconfig to make sure that all startup programs were disabled and they were. I also looked at my system sounds to see which sound it is and I found out that it is the asterisk sound. The problem I am having now doesn't happen all of the time but when it does, it lasts for a long time and requires restarting my computer.
And for the record, I am running windows 7 64 bit.
I am trying to strip Windows 7 of every single screen and message before login... and before shutdown.
So we've got:
- Boot sequence
- Logon screen
- Preparation to Logon
- Preparation to Shutdown
Boot sequence was easy to completely black out, by using [URL](black background, all messages removed)
Logon screen can be skipped without hacks, just a matter of having no password.
Now I'm left with the Logon ("Preparing your desktop...", "Applying user preferences", "Welcome"... etc.) and the Shutdown ("Shutting down..." etc.) screens and messages.
Is there a way to completely disable both?
If there isn't, I am thinking of a hack: both are made by a background (which you can change with custom graphics by putting them into the OOBE folder and a couple registry keys). Then, there are text messages which are contained somewhere and can be emptied by using ResourceHacker (I found some of them but not all). Finally, somewhere within some exe or dll, there should be the "working" circle of light and the Windows 7 logo, which are superimposed to the custom background. I am attaching a picture for clarity.
I'm just setting up a new Win7 Professional system, and I want to encrypt a partition on the hard-disk with TrueCrypt to store certain stuff including the data directory for MySQL.
However, the MySQL service would probably start before I'm logged-in and therefore throw a fit if the data dir isn't mounted yet. Likewise, I can't be sure MySQL will stop before the Truecrypt volume is dismounted at logoff/shutdown.
Is there any way I can make MySQL wait for the Truecrypt volume to be mounted after logon, and then stop it at logoff before Truecrypt dismounts? It seems it might be possible using Group Policy, but as I come from XP Home I've no experience of this tool.
PS - Just to make things more complicated, I'll mostly be logging in as a Standard User, so the solution has to work whoever logs in.
Not asking much eh?
Well i was playing a game i think it overheated im not sure cause its like over 100+ and i was playing games. Anyway there was a screen that was a bunch of colors i think mostly purple or pink but whatever. So i shut down my computer and when i turn it on it makes a buzzing noise for like a minute. I cleaned the inside of the computer all the dust out from the fans and all that but it still makes the sound. Also after the buzzing sound it turns off then back on then a light buzzing sound for a bout 4 or 5 mins then i think its gone. Its either that or because i turn on my modem then turn on my computer a second later.(i dont usually do that).
View 1 Replies View RelatedAnd not just fullscreen. Saaaay... Farm Frenzy? Or any other game. Computer makes a buzzing noise on EVERY game I play when it loads something from the game. It's not from the speakers, it's from the computer itself. What's the catch?

View 1 Replies View RelatedMy computer was blue screening. I had a warranty RMA through my manufacturer and I just got it back, fixed. However since then, my Logitech X-530 5.1 surround speakers have been messed up. Initially I thought the front two were not working, but when I was testing I found the Left Rear works and the Right Rear sound comes through the Front Left speaker. The Subwoofer is fine, but the Right Front and Rear have no sound. To be more clear, when my realtek audio manager tests the front two speakers, there is zero sound. When it checks the LR it comes through the LR fine, but the RR comes through the LF speaker. I've unplugged, checked wires, made sure everything was plugged in correctly, and I reinstalled my realtek HD audio driver also.s.
View 1 Replies View Relatedproblem while playing the audio files(like mp3, wav...etc) with front panel headphones, the sound interrupting continuously (like 10 seconds sound-1 second mute-12 second sound-1 s mute-5 s sound-1 s mute) but there is no problem while playing video files. I opened the mixer from taskbar audio icon and saw the headphones device goes and comes cyclically while playing audio files.
View 5 Replies View RelatedSo I built this computer a few weeks ago with Windows 7 Ultimate. Everything sound-wise has been working til a few days ago, but I have been working through some video problems.Since this started on Friday, the sound mixer/volume control shows sound playing. But nothing comes out the speakers. When I click the top, it doesn't say 'speakers', it says 'Realtek audio'. When I click that, the sound window comes up and under "jacks" it says "rear optical jack." The top says S/PDIF. Those are both formats that I have never used on this system.I've always used only the rear panel analog jack.Anyways, I feel like I've tried everything under the sun and I'm close to RMA'ing the motherboard.
