I've got full sound in everything else and the latest sound blaster drivers. I insert a DVD and play it in Windows Media Player or Center and I get no Audio (*shakes head).
I play the DVD in VLC and it plays and sounds fine, but the Quality of the DVD video in VLC blows.
What's the fix (and why does there need to be a fix) for Windows Media Player? You'd think Windows Media CENTER could at least play a DVD...
All my defaults are set as far as being able to play my CDs and DVDs are concerned, but neither iTunes nor Windows media will play them.

When I try playing a DVD on it (does for only some DVDs), it plays the background music and the video, just the voices are gone. I made sure it wasn't just the movie by enabling closed captioning and using a regular DVD player. On the regular DVD player, it ran with everything voices and all. Anyone know what could be wrong? I do have Home Premium so it shouldn't be the codecs I'd guess, but I'm new to this stuff.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI can play most DVDs without any bother with VLC. I recently got 'The World at War - Ultimate Restored Edition', but the discs won't play!
First, VLC just wouldn't open the DVD. I kept trying, and eventually it opened the DVD, but the audio and video were massively choppy.
I tried uninstalling and reinstalled VLC. Now the audio and video are distinctly less choppy, but it's still very irritating.
It's just these DVDs, and I don't get what's different about them!
I have Windows 7 Home basic service pack1, 64 bit OS. I'm not able to play FLV files using the VLC 2.0.1. I have uninstalled and reinstalled it many times but it didn't work. When I'm trying to play the files nothing is shown, not even a single error message. but no sound/display.

View 2 Replies View RelatedSo I have been trying to play/rip this CD I just got, but I have been having no luck at all. It will start playing the song, and continue playing the whole song, but the rest of the computer crashes so I am forced to restart. I don't get why one program would crash the whole computer like that.
I've also tried to rip the CD, and it would rip about 4 tracks and then the computer would crash and it would stop. Anyone having a similar problem or know how to fix this one? It is an imported Japanese CD by the way, not sure if that matters or not.
One of my .avi files got the extension twice, not able to play in vlc media player, but it plays smooth in Windows media player. I don't now how it happened, but tried to rename it, still appears the same. When I looked in to the file properties it says the file having extension,(.avi) (.avi).!!! Thought of converting the whole file to some other format, sadly video converting program not able to open as it says unknown format!!!

Before updating my sound driver (HD Realtek audio), I had to turn off audio enhancements to get any sound from VLC or said media player, however there is a huge drop in sound quality, so I kind of neglected it and went on with having poor sound quality. Well I just now updated my driver and though I get sound through websites and sound from my games (Diablo 3, CS:GO, etc.) I still don't receive sound from VLC, ITunes or any other media player. I'm not sure what to do because the drop in sound quality has started to annoy me so I don't want to turn off the audio enhancements.

View 1 Replies View RelatedWindows wont let me delete these sound files that are choking my playlists. i tried a system restore, deleting them (not a TrustedInstaller or whatever), and turning off WMP and WMS and turning it back on. they come back as an Unknown Album. Im not great at the computer thing but basically i had to erase all my music which is awful for my work day. I dont know where they came from or how they got here but im stumped

View 1 Replies View RelatedI own a dell xps L501x. My dvd player is not reading any dvd movies, disc with data.. and etc. It reads cd though. I insert a blank dvd, it reads the blank dvd and ask me what i want to do. But if i insert a dvd with things on it, it would not read it. If i click on the dvd drive, after awhile my dvd tray will eject and pops up a message asking me to insert a dvd.
I check the driver, and it says everything is working properly. I went on dell website and did a dell hardware diagnosed and everyhting passed.
I have been running W7 on this box since W7 came out. I use the TV tuner, Dvdfab, play movies, rip cd's and to this point haven't really had any problems. About 2 weeks ago I was unable to open a movie to use DVDFab to copy it. DVDFab had expried. I did upgrade to the latest version, but that didnt help. Then I tried playing a CD. CD will not play. WMP just sits at the blue circle. Sometimes it will recognize the cd and songs, but no music.Only physical cds and dvds. Same problem if you try and play them from WMC.

The problem is that whenever I play any DVD in any player of my choice, the OS Crashes and shows a BSOD every time I try to play DVDs in my PC. My PC has got Intel i865G Chipset with the built-in Intel 82865G GPU. I can't live without watching DVDs! I do have a DVD Player to watch them on my TV, but watching them on my PC is better for me.

And I have Foobar (portable) as the default program for .mp3.Usually the icons on .mp4, .avi, .mp3 files get updated with the icons of the assigned media players.But on this PC it's not working. They're still the same icons as if WMP was the default player.Does it have to do with the Standard user account? (Because on other PCs I run from an Admin account and I don't have such problems.)

It always hogs up massive amount of CPU power and goes into (Not Responding) for a min while updating.I only add media files to the Windows Explorer Library so I can get indexed searches. I don't even use WMP to view files or anything. Just to burn some music CDs sometimes.I've tried deleting the files from the WMP library but the next time I open it up, it scans and updates all my files again! Is there a way to completely purge the WMP library and make it not update ever? I'm in grave problem here. I just installed windows 7 x64 a few days back. And initially I installed the 32bit version of k-lite codec pack for my windows media player. The media center worked fine then. It was loading my ffdshow and ac3filter along as I checked it.But then yesterday I noticed that the same pop-up od recommended/express install of WMP came again. Initially I thought that it must be some bug or something, but then when my MKV and AVI files didn't work in WMC, I realized that somehow WMP x64 got triggered, and now it is using the x64 bit of WMP in WMC. And I just wanna revert back to 32-bit WMP in WMC.

This DVD player is an external player and I have no problem with playback on my Dual boot with Vista Home Premium.
Any suggestions?
