I start or restart my computer I have to insert my OS disc to repair it because Vista wouldnt boot. Its Vista 64 premium. I have been trying to figure out why and I am at a loss. I uninstalled and removed my tv tuner and driver. I restored it to an earlier point. Is this a common problem?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a new PC in which I installed Vista Ultimate x64 OS...everything is OK with that OS apart from one thing, ME...I do not like Vista Ultimate at all. I now have a XP Pro x64 CD which I would like to install and use as my ONLY OS. Trouble is that I cannot get the disc to boot. I have tried (in vain) to change my boot sequence in Vista Ultimate x64 and, no matter what I do I cannot get the CD/DVD drive as my 1st boot. If I use f2 (set-up) I cannot even move CD/DVD drive from it's bottom position in the boot sequence list and when I go to f11 to select and enter boot device my optical drive is listed but if I select that my PC seems to ignore this and boots from hdd giving me Vista Ultimate again. I have been with this problem for a couple of weeks now and I decided that it was time to turn to the experts for advice :-)
View 6 Replies View RelatedI made an attempt to add ubuntu the other day, it semi took. When I tried to boot to it today, there was nothing there. But.. There was a screen with many different options on how to boot, repair, diagnose etc.. Tools everyone needs but can't access. I don't really want to re-install ubuntu just to find all those utils. Is there another way to get a boot repair screen with all the different utils on it?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI accidentally put vista into sleep mode. The video was all garbled and it was clear there was an issue. So, I hit the reset button on my tower to stop the mess. My next boot I got the error.

The issue is when booting to the DVD, on the page with the moving green bar and it says Windows Vista under, it hangs. I even left it there for 2 hrs. The HDD LED on my computer is solid the whole time too. All my hard drives are SATA and they are in AHCI which is turned on in the BIOS. Perhaps changing the drives to IDE would help?
Anyways, Id like to get into that repair CD so I can fix my boot sector so I dont have to reformat. This has happened before and Ive had to reformat. Im sick of it, I dont want to reformat Vista again. Incase you didnt already know Im using Vista Ultimate x64.
No problems whatsoever for 6 months until Monday night black screen with blinking cursor. Rebooted. Got the message saying cannot start up normally.. disk may need synchronizing (can't remember the exact wording of any of messages)
1. tried to run chkdsk. hung for HOURS.
2. tried to run repair thingie from vista disk. that says it may take an hour or more but i gave up after 6 hours.
3. tried booting into safe modes. does not boot past crcdisk.sys
4. used vista disc again. said i cannot restore to an earlier point because of disk errors. was able to run cmd prompt. all my files are still on the C: moved some files to external drives without error using the move command............

i'm using Vista Ultimate x64. But i have the bootcd error, The problem is: I can't do startup repair there are no OS listed! I click laod drivers than windows explorer thing comes, but what than? I must choose a Setup Information File or something, I accendentally deleted the Boot/bcd map, i just wan't repair, just no OS listed, i can't find it! (i can see my hard drivers)

Its been working great for over a year now untill yesterday when all of a sudden it wouldn't boot up properly. It continued to go to start-up repair, but that kept on failing. After trying all other tools, (system restore had no restore points for some odd reason)... I tried safe mode. That did not work. It instead went back to the start-up repair screen. The same warning message popped up everytime it failed "Cannot repair automatically, click finish blah blah blah". When I bought this laptop from Best Buy, I did not recieve any type of Disk for Vista, it was already loaded on there... I would rather not do a clean install.

When I boot at the Thoshiba screen (options to boot into setup/multiboot) there are green lines going vertically through the screen. It will not boot if that is the case. It then initializes start up repair which gives me the error above. I have tried to restore from earlier points to no avail. I have reinstalled vista from my disks at which point it worked for a minor peroid of time and this started to happen again. Virus? Once In awhile it will boot without the green vertical lines and will start up just fine, but this appears to be random.
I have a boot issue since I got a Samsung SyncMaster 2233RZ, I have a black screen the first 30 second on startup, that is until I get to the login screen. I tried hitting the F11-F12 keys but I still just get a regular startup instead of boot from disc. How do I get to boot from the vista disc and what is wrong with my monitor, it can't be right it has to stand around and blink for 30 seconds..?

It installed fine but I ran into driver problems as well as a corrupt disc error. I decided to go back to vista and formatted the 7 partition. I've been happily using Vista for months now, and I've not used XP for some time. But now I need to use it, and it won't boot up.
It gets as far as the log in screen. But the keyboard and mouse don't work. (they do during boot up as I can use the keyboard to choose the OS). Same thing in safe mode. How can I repair the XP installation (or do a new one from scratch), with out messing up the Vista installation and keeping the dual boot option.
I have a virus and am trying to do a fresh clean install of vista home premium. When I boot from the install disc and run the install program it give me error code 0x80004005 and says that my computer does not have enough free space. It advises me to free up enough space in order to copy files. Problem is I have tons of free space on my hardrive. I have two partitions and both have plenty of free space.

I am running Windows VISTA Ultimate x64, do not have the original disk with me as i brought this computer to work on to my vacation spot to do some work. I partitioned a new hard drive and formatted it using my Windows XP Home Ed. SP2 Install CD. I then installed Win XP. I then installed Windows Vista Home Premium 64 bit on the other partition. ( I have two partitions on a single drive, C: and D This has been working great for me for the last 5 months. Today I have a reason to perform a repair install on just the Windows XP partition. I have performed a Win XP repair install successfully in the past using the XP SP2 install CD but never when my system was set up as dual boot. If I perform a repair install using my WinXP install disk to repair the Windows XP installation, will this leave my Vista partition untouched? Will it at all interfere with the system's ability to multi boot? I'm not very concerned about not being able to boot up into Windows XP but it's extremely critical that my system's ability to boot up into Vista is not compromised.

each time I boot my Vista PC the system is very slow to establish a connection to the network. How do I go about troubleshooting this problem? I have a SOHO network config. One Vista PC, one W2K3 server on the network. Verizon supplied FIOS router gets me on the internet. The network runs great once it is connected. When I click diagnose and repair on the network icon the result is a "cant repair the problem" answer.

It then went to reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected boot device and press a key. I went into the BIOS to change the boot order and inserted my Vista home premium 32bit. I then got windows is loading in files. After a short while I got the black start up screen with Microsoft Corporation but after a few seconds it just froze. Moments later it went to a blue screen with white writing part of which said the following; A PROBLEM HAS BEEN DETECTED AND WINDOWS HAS BEEN SHUT DOWN TO PREVENT DAMAGE TI YOUR COMPUTER.
I remember reading that this was possible, at least with XP, but I can't seem to find any page that would allow this. The only thing I found was a page that allowed digital download buyers to get back up discs.
Considering the fact that slipstreaming isn't possible, I would definitely like to replace my Ultimate retail discs with sp1 discs.

I have windows xp installed right now and I dual booted with vista by re-partitioning my hard drive. After encountering problems with vista I delted the vista partition and resized the xp partition back to it's original size. I am now stuck with the windows vista boot loader which persistantly telling me that the windows vista files are not present etc. etc. Is there any way that I can delted the vista bootloader and go back to using the xp bootloader?
