Windows Vista Still Get Delayed Loading Time
May 27, 2009
Recently one of my hard drives underwent a bizarre process where it decided to revert back to RAW. After 4 days of problem solving I finally fixed the drives but also purchased 2 new/better drives. I run a RAID-0 Striping set-up. I have done every trick in the book to decrease the excess fluff from running in the background of windows vista but I still get delayed loading times. If I right click to attempt to create a folder or something such as that, the circular loading icon appears as it takes 2-3 seconds to open. And it does this with most everything, some things take longer than others.
I only ask what could be the cause of this because this never happened with my former drives or vista for the past year, it only started after the one hard drive crashed and it has done it since the fix and since the installation of the new drives. Everything use to open practically instantaneously....My only assumption is that there is something trying to load but I have tried disabling everything and it still does the same thing.

I've had Vista x64 installed for about 2 full months now and I've recently begun having a **** ton of problems. One being: 187 seconds. What the ****.Before you ask, here are 'my specs Lots of fast memory, a fast processor, 7200RPM boot drive (not listed), and ****ing awful performance. What gets me is that the delayed boot time is before I even see the "Welcome" screen.
My current boot time distribution:
1. BIOS does all its fancy stuff very quickly (about 6-7 seconds or so)
2. I get to my boot loader and it defaults to Vista after 5 seconds (dual-booting Vista/Ubuntu).
3. I then see the Vista loading screen (black screen with green loading bar) for about 4-5 seconds.
4. SIT AT COMPLETELY BLACK SCREEN FOR 160 SECONDS.
5. Welcome screen/load Startup apps (takes 10 seconds or so)....

I recently went into Change Date & Time Internet time tab and chose a time standard to connect with. After doing that I went onto the internet and connected with time.nist.gov and checked the time. After that I was no longer able to go into the internet time tab. It tells me that time.nist.gov is the time connection and I can't change it. It tells me I need to have permission to do this as administrator. I am the administrator! What goes here?

Whenever I try to open any Windows Explorer program like My Computer, Control Panel, Recycle Bin, etc. the window immediately freezes (though nothing else on the PC freezes) and goes into a non-responsive state. If I just do other stuff for about 3-5 minutes the window will eventually open correctly, but this is obviously a problem.

When i start up my vista has problems loading things and can pause. Yet sometimes it lets you log on, but when you log after 20 seconds it can freeze(but the arrow moves around the screen). I can get on safe mode perfectly(I am using now). This is the second time it happened, and the 1st time i had to format, and i am not willing to do that again.

I am thinking about getting a Solid State Drive. I prefer to get the intel brand, and the 80GB is within my budget. (The Intel X25-M) The speed performance boost is the reason I am interested. If I want to keep my documents and games on my standard hard drive, and load Vista completly on my new SSD drive, would it be a good idea? I know that my x64bit Vista Ultimate is at least 40GB, but not 100% sure if thats it. Plus I know it needs some extra space for other "stuff".

First after doing an ordinary restart, my vista (ultimate) gets stuck for a LONG time at the loading screen and does not move, with the green loading bars. this happens every time i try to restart. i pop in my original vista disk and start the repair process...it says it found something wrong with my startup and it found what was wrong and that it was repaired. after this i get the message NTLDR, which is a whole nother problem. i ran the below to fix the NTLDR...
1. Put the Windows Vista installation disc in the disc drive, and then start the computer.
2. Press a key when you are prompted.
3. Select a language, a time, a currency, a keyboard or an input method, and then click Next.
4. Click Repair your computer............

I'm having a problem logging into Vista. It started last week Monday (2nd Nov); I switched on my laptop (Packard Bell Easynote LE (MB-88) with 2 GB RAM) and logged into my Windows profile (Vista Home Premium, 32bit). The Welcome page came up... and that's where it stayed! When I stwiched off and back on, I was prompted to go into Safe Mode, which I did. I noticed that the system files loaded up until BtHidBus.sys was reached, where it froze for a long time until I was eventually allowed to login in Safe Mode.
I thought maybe it was because I had put the laptop to sleep, unplugged my USB HD (Maxtor 500 GB) and 'awoken' it without plugging the HD back in. So I plugged it back in, rebooted and logged in as normal. The same thing happened... it got stuck at the Welcome page, I had to cold boot, choose Safe Mode and wait..... for the system files to load up. After searching the web for possible solutions, I found out that BtHidBus.sys is a file that was a part of my IVT Blue Soleil's Bluetooth software, and that there was possibly a triplication of the file. So I thought I'd better uninstall the program... except that you can't access Windows Installer whilst in Safe mode! So I went into MSCONFIG, disabled BTtray.exe (another Blue Soleil file) and restarted the laptop...............

I am running the Hardware in my sig. the machine runs all 04 OS perfectly, 'cept Vista32Bit. I upgraded to the VX2235WM from the Benq FP72E (a 22" 16:10 and 17" 4:3 respectively) first on the 8800GTS 320MB, everything was fine, when one day, the desktop after loading Vista, just dissapeared, there was nothing, no wall paper/gadgets/taskbar/ icons...nothing, except for my mouse cursor, and by default a window "My documents" open, and showing contents. At first i was under the impression that it was my GPU/DVI cable/or the LCD, after 03 months (in pakistan there are NO consumer rights...so you fight or call in favours to RMA, and then get a new replacement piece) i got everything changed, still no dice......
i used the 163.04/09 and the latest WHQL 169.25....no display used the VX2235 drivers from MS update nad WHQL's from Viewsonic's website Changed the GPU to the 8800GT XFX, in the hope that just perhaps the
broken VC2 engine might be causing troubles, used the same..............

I've tried everything to fix my Dell Inspiron 1545 running Windows Vista Home Premium 32bit and I can't seem to work out what to do anymore. My laptop automatically did some updates earlier today and I rebooted as advised, unfortunately it failed to load up at all and I got a screen telling me windows has failed to start. Problem could be due to a recent change of hardware or software. The only recent change being the updates. I've tried to do a system repair, which hasn't worked. All it does is load a blank screen with, eventually a movable mouse cursor, nothing else happens after. I've tried to load from the boot cd also, but I have the same problem.
The white bar loads, message saying windows is loading files then as soon as its passed the blank screen and mouse cursor come up. I can't load anything in safe mode as it just comes up with the windows failed to start message. I'm at a loss, I think. And if I can't reinstall windows then it looks like my laptop is messed up completely. All I haven't tried is perhaps loading safe mode with command prompt and trying to do a system restore, and Repair Install For Vista this, which I'm not quite sure I understand fully. I might have had SP1 installed already. Anyone got anything they can chuck my way to advise me to do? I haven't had the laptop all THAT long.

When I click on Windows Update, it just hangs with the circle cursor spinning. All that opens up is a white box, and nothing happens. I had no issues running Update 2 days ago. It just started this yesterday out of the blue. IDK if it is related, but I also can't update drivers in Device Mgr. It just keeps searching the web for drivers, and nothing ever happens.

In August IE8 Beta 2 was released in English, German, Japanese, and Simplified Chinese, and in September Microsoft released support for 21 more languages. Microsoft officially set the deadline for the final version for later this year, and left it at that. We noted in September that, according to the IE8 Beta 2 support page, prerelease versions of IE8 would no longer be supported come November 1, 2008, suggesting that the final version would arrive this month. We've noticed, however, that this date has been recently changed to December 31: Free unlimited installation and usage support is available for Internet Explorer 8 pre-released versions, but only for North America English customers. This support for Internet Explorer 8 pre-released versions is valid until December 31st, 2008. Full Story: IE8 delayed? Microsoft extends support cutoff for IE8 betas

I decide to re-baseline my desktop home system with a fresh install of Windows Vista Ultimate. Everything seemed to install correctly. Vista picked up most of the drivers and I was able to supply the ones it didn???t. After setup and re-boot, I noticed that the desktop/sidebar appears reasonably fast, after which there is a delay of about a minute with some disk activity during which the Network icon in System Tray has a red X. After about a minute or so, there is a great deal of disk activity (the system seems to be paging). The delay continues further until finally the yellow exclamation symbol appears, quickly followed by the globe icon. The system then functions as normal. The delay can be anywhere between 1-3 minutes. My motherboard has 3 network connections; 1 direct connection to my NAS server, 1 to the ADSL modem, 1 wireless.

I don't really know what to say more, since I'm totally clueless with this one. What I've tried to do, is to update my drivers. I've also updated my BIOS. What should I try next?

I want it to run Windows Vista 32-Bit Edition. I had Linux Ubuntu 6.06 LTS, now I erased the linux partition and format the disk with a utility called Dban. I had to make a bootable CD in order to format it. When the disk was in blank I inserted the Windows Vista DVD and the screen said "Windows is loading files" then the progress bar of Windows Vista appears however it stops. I waited there 1 hour, but nothing happened so i thought it was because I didn't format it to NTFS. Then I used GParted to format it to NTFS. I tried again, however it gave me the same results.

After powering on the computer, it literally takes 10-15 minutes to start loading windows. Once windows starts loading, everything is fine, and the computer runs beautifully. I'm thinking this has something to do with the bios, but don't know where to start. Once again, the computer stalls before windows even begins to load.

I haven't been able to start Windows past the green loading bar. The first couple of days when I tried to turn on the computer it would take me to an 'Error Start Up' screen where I would try to restart using safe mode or something.
Now though, it does the blue HP screen, then goes black with a grey loading bar that says "Loading Files" and then from there it goes to the green loading bar. This has happened to me once before, although, it was fixed in just a couple of days. I removed the main power cord and left it out for a day and when I tried again, it worked. I've tried doing that now, but no such luck......

I just installed a fresh Vista x64 on a (temporary, just for the fun/experimenting) SATA disk, while I wait for my new SAS drives to arrive. After the install it all was ok-ish (experience index on the drive was only 2.3, so pretty slow compared to my old XP machine). The rest of my system all shows 5.9's But after fiddling around with new drivers and tips and trick I learned from this forum, it all went downhill from here. Navigation is very sluggish and the boot up time is 445 seconds (!) I did about everything I could find on this forum to speed up the OS, but no luck. Is there a tool available that helps me to find out which process/driver is causing the delay? Something like Bootvis for XP.

A short time ago I solved following error: "Error 49: Volmgr. Conf page file for crash dump failed". Thanks to a guru here in this forum, he told me to enter into System/Advanced/Performance Settings/.../Virtual Memory Change, and check the “Automatically manage paging file size”. The error reporting stopped, everything OK so far. However, after that moment my Vista uses extremely long time to shut down, up to 2 minutes. No error reports, nothing wrong as far as I can see, my Vista works perfectly well, and has a very quick start up.

when I had to open Internet Explorer (I use Mozilla) to access my school email account. Everything went fine and when I was done I reopened Mozilla to browse again. I got one of those annoying spam web popups saying I had a computer infection and clicked out of it. A few minutes later my pc just randomly rebooted. I have had viruses before but it has never shut down randomly before. So I immediately restarted in safemode and ran my spyware tools. I found 3 trojans (I no longer remember their names) and removed them. I rebooted and it starts to load windows but reboots before it reaches the user account screen. I can get into safe mode and I did run my spyware tools again, they didn't find anything at all. I figured I had somehow damaged my system and so I downloaded a windows repair disc and repairedit. It didn't work. I've run startup repair and that didn't work or find anything wrong either.

I am currently using my Dell Inspiron in safe mode as I cannot use it in normal mode without freezing soon after loading. For some reason, the Ms Help page says there is a prob with my Product ID so I can't get help there unless I pay for it. I have just had Service Pack 2 installed but the problem started before that upgrade. Also, in device manager, under Network Adaptors, I have 6TO4 adapters 'unable to start' and also ISATAP adapters similarly unable to start. Would these events be the cause of the freezing? I don't have more than 1 anti-virus running.
