I want to remove the windows start up sound for my vista. even if my computer's sound is off before I shut down my computer, it makes a big noise when I start up.
I went to control panel/ sound and I unchecked the box next to "play windows startup sound" but this was not helpful. still I hear the same noise when I start my computer.
I keep getting a yellow exclamation point on windows start navigation sound I can go in and select it and it works for the time it is selected. but as soon as I reboot the yellow exclamation point comes back how do I fix this can someone help me please it annoying and aggravating to have to turn that on all the time. I even did a system restore back to yesterday thinking I did something to it no go still dose it. nothing else broken all works good sound everything just not this one.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI Was using the Sony Sound Forge 8 in a HP laptop with XP Pro and the program was working really good,but I had a problem with the HP Laptop and I have to run and bought a new computer,as a computer technician,the warehouses make me good prices in computer parts and computers,so I bought an Acer Aspire 4520 with the VISTA OS and now I dont know if it is the computer or the Vista that make the sound output real bad like when you are listening to an old cassette machine,it start slow and after a while you start listening acceptable..I don't know if it is syncronization beetween the data that is in the hard disk and the program or it's that I need a driver,I download the Realtek audio driver just in case,and installed but I still have the problem..But if I play any music in iTunes it sounds real good.

Meaning when I record something, it would record whatever is playing on the computer. But I forgot how to make that setting.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a Vista Business 32bit OS and am hving trouble solving the famous 'no- sound' mystery. I tried the simplest way of solving it:
1. Downloaded the Realtek AC'97 driver (as guided by some other forum: No sound with Windows Vista)
2. Tried installing by running up 'setup.exe'.
3. All was well till Vista came up with this message: 'Windows can't verify the publisher of this driver software' and had two options:- Don't install this driver software. install this driver anyway
I tried using the 2nd option - nothing happened and the same message popped up. The 1st option obviously quit the installation process. What do I do? It is frustrating to have a computer without sound and nothing to be done about it.
I just upgraded to Vista U x64 and am having sound problems. I have a prelude x-fi sound card but the sound coming out of it is extremely low. I have maxed out every thing I can max (control panel sound, creative panel) and the sound level is whisper quiet. I have also upgraded all my drivers except the prelude's, I would but their website isn't offering those drivers at the moment. But the drivers supplied with the card are vista certified so I should get something. But my mobo, etc is all updated. I have been searching for a solution for two days to no avail.

I am running Windows Vista Premium Home SP1. When I boot my computer, Windows Defender doesn't start automatically. It works fine if I start it manually. I have never run Windows OneCare, MSCONFIG shows it set to start, the Windows Defender service is set to automatic and Tools | Options has all the checkboxes checked.

Every time i start up my laptop windows firewall fails 2 start, windows security alerts comes up.
My speaker icon in the taskbar has a red cross on it. When I hover my mouse over it, it says "The audio service is not running", if I right click it I get 3 options
1. Playback devices
2. Recording devices
3. Sounds
I went to my start menu and searched services.msc and checked to see if plug and play, windows audio endpoint builder, and multimedia class scheduler were all set to startup type automatic & all started. they were. so then i go to Windows Audio, right click to properties, and it is stopped. So i click to start it and it says "Windows could not start the Windows Audio service on Local Computer. Error 1079: The account specified for this service is different from the account specified for other services running in the same process."
I tried to restore my computer but my restore point is past the point when this issue originated. Also, Conexant Driver is installed and working properly. If I right click on the volume icon with a little red X through it... I can click on Open Volume Mixer, and It says "No Audio Device Installed" Yet, my audio devices are installed.

my computer is a hp pavilion a1230n and when i upgraded it to windows vista, the sound card suddenly stopped working! i looked around, and my sound card doesn't seem to have any drivers for windows vista. i looked at the model, and i think this is it :integrated ati radeon xpress 200. my device manager says no device has been installed, but it's there because it was working with windows xp. i was wondering if there's any way i could update it or something.

(Having said that, I get it even when doing simple taks like listening to music or watching movies on iTunes/Windows Media Player.) I've done all the usual things like updating to the latest BIOS/drivers, but still it won't go away. I've moved the sound card to another PCI slot and checked there's no IRQ conflicts too...

Suddently today Windows does not start, it doesn't matter if I put it in safe mode. I can start the computer, I get into Vista but then the screen is just simply blue (but not a bluescreen though) and I am able to browse one folder. My Vista does not start properly but I'm able to get into the internet through this one open folder but the status bar and everything is missing. Down in the corner it says: Windows Vista (TM) Evalutation copy. Build 6001. But I did read earlier that this watermark comes with servicepack 1, even though the copy of Vista is fully legal....

The other day, I uninstalled Norton and tried to reactivate Windows Vista Firewall and it fails to do so. It says to try manually and that does not work either. I even tried restarting the computer and that did not cure the problem. It keeps telling me that the service is not running and when I try it fails to load again.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a new HP computer and recently every time I boot up the computer, a windows installer window pops-up and tried to install a program (it doesn't state the program name) but stops at the stage when it searches for an installation CD, as I don't have the computer's installation CD (the computer comes with no installation CD and all installation info is backed-up in the secured drive D). How do I get rid of this pop-up ? I have tried using windows installer cleanup utility but as I don't know which program windows installer is trying to install, I don't know which one to delete from the list of programs displayed in the cleanup utility. What would happen if I remove all programs from the windows installer cleanup utility list ?

I've installed Win7 on my laptop and want to customize the Start Menu's All Programs windows. I normally consolidate like programs/folders into one common folder to minimize the number of items on the All Program window (i.e. all Microsoft related items in one folder called something like Microsoft Programs). I can't seem to figure out how to do that in Windows 7.

I have a dell 1525 running vista home premium 32bit. Just a few minutes ago I was transfering music from my hard drive to my external hard drive, while on the internet looking at videos. I noticed that the file transfer process was taking a while so i decided to cancel the process. Some error message popped up after a while, being stupid I didn't write them down and kept watching my videos. My desktop disappeared and i cou;dn't start task manager so i decided to restart my computer... When I restarted I was greeted with "Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause. To fix the problem:
1. Insert your Windows installation disc and restart the computer.
2. Choose your language settings and click next.
3. Click "repair your computer"
It also gives me the following options:
4. Safe Mode
5. Safe Mode with networking
6. Safe Mode with Command Prompt
7. Last known good configuration
8. Start Windows normally
When I restart booting from the reinstall dvd from dell and i get to the repair my computer part, vista isn't listed in the options to repair. And I can't browse my main hard drive. Also when I start into safe mode, all the driver load then I get a quick flash of a blue screen which says(i video tapped it then slowed it down to read the message): A problem has been detected and windows[COLOR=#05408F ! important][COLOR=#05408F ! important][/COLOR][/COLOR] has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer.........
I install a fresh copy of Vista 64-bit and every thing is working fine. after windows install all updates and become up to date my Windows Sidebar crashes and don't want to start. every time i try to run it i get an error message and this happen only after the updates but before it it's works fine so is there any way to make it run normally again?
View 9 Replies View Relatedi have such a problem: when i unplug the lan cable windows explorer applications take 40-45 sec to start! i have to wait that time to open any kind of file or folder however other external programs are not affect!
it's very strange but when it's already opened a folder or file and is not closed any other folder or file can be opened without taking these 45 sec, i mean they start normally! and that happens every time the lan cable is unplugged.
