I often get this short hissing noise when I either open/close/minimize/maximize a window or pass the cursor over the sidebar. As far as I can tell, this only happens when the sidebar is activated. how I can get rid of this sound without having to
close the sidebar?
My CD Tray is now opening and closing every 2 min. If i put in a disk, such as a game disk, and start the game, the tray will stop opening and closing. Once I stop the game, the tray starts opening and closing again.
auto execute does not work when I put a disk in.
I have run Norton 360, it shows no vurus or spyware.
Everytime I open a game the game freezes for about 10-30 seconds, and then begins to load.. This also happens when closing takes about ten to thirty seconds, and then finally closes... This happens with every single game I had.. This didn't happen in the beginning but started about three to four months ago.. I searched for other threads in different forums.

Whenver I boot up and try to open a program or application, it takes a really REALLY long time for it to open. For example, whenever I try to open Firefox or Internet Explorer or even my control panel, the window will open and will be blank. Then it will start to load but either take an enormous amount of time or, after I've become tired of waiting, I'll try to exit and it will say (Not Responding). Now eventually this goes away and the window does close, but like I said, it takes a ton of time trying to open and close these things up. If I do wait it out and I do get into my Internet Explorer or Mozilla, any links that I click or addresses that I type, it again, takes forever. I've run a deep system scan with my Anti-Virus software and came up with nothing. I did a system restore to a point where the problem was not happening and, again, nothing.

The first time vista launched I noticed that the sound at the opening logo screen was just a long hard screeching sound. Then when I started clicking around and installing my programs in the desktop environment I noticed that all the sounds had been replaced by horrific screeching sounds. After installing the Windows updates (hoping this might solve the sound problem) and my video drivers I restarted my pc. At the startup I still had the screeching sounds but now I also had white garbled lines on my desktop. When I started moving around my mouse cursor the screen started to get stuck at some places and white squares started showing up everywhere. Then finally, to end it all my pc just jumped to standby mode and all I could do is reset the pc with the powerbutton. When restarting the problem starts allover again. When starting up in save mode the white garble and squares don't show up, but the sound stays screechy.
View 4 Replies View RelatedThe problem I am having with Windows mail is that when i open it to check mail it starts to check the accounts, then it says "windows has encoutered a problem" "checking for a solution" then the dreaded "there is no fix, im going to close" If I am persistant and keep reopening the program it will eventually check
all the emails, but then will prompt an error in 10 min and ask me to close the program. Is there some problem that no fix has been released for this?
An odd thing as occured in the past week. I am using Vista 64bit OS. As we all know, when we click the (x) in the upper right to close a web page, it should close on one click. Also when going to the task bar and right clicking to close the page. It is taking me three or more clicks to close the page. The back arrow seems un-affected. The open web page seems to hang and then closes.I have no problems in closeing normal windows within the os.I've checked for malware using malwarebytes and nothing comes up. I also have no viruses according to my payed version of AVG. I keep my system clean of junk files etc.

If I try to click on any drop down menu the menu will automatically close and the border of the current window is constantly flashing. The programs I've found this to be happening so far are Outlook, Windows Explorer, and the start menu. I've updated windows as much as I can to see if that'll do it but nope.

a) Windows Update- Windows update is failing to load any new updates available, after selecting "check for updates" i am responded with an immediate error; it states. b)Live Messenger 8.1- Secondly, i was shocked to find my msn wasn't working (works on web based version, so cant be wrong login details) first the typing was slow then i get the error code: 800401f3 denying me login. I searched up the code and found i had to type up some things in cmd...........

View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm sure everyone knows that Windows Sidebar can potentially destroy the amount of RAM that is available on your PC, but I'm having sort of an unusual problem with this. When Windows Sidebar is loaded, the amount of RAM that it occupies is about 20MB, which is certainly acceptable for me. However, after the course of 6 or so hours the RAM increases upwards of 120MB, and after 12 hours, nearly 200MB! This just doesn't seem right. I'm assuming Sidebar is stored some previous information via RAM, but I really can't see this information being necessary at all. Is there anyway I can put a cap on the amount of RAM that Sidebar uses? Or even some other method to reduce the RAM usage?

I can bring it up and add gadgets but they don't function properly and they only have an X on the right hand side (no magnifying glass to edit options). So basically, the sidebar works but the gadgets don't?? Some of the graphics will show up but they don't function...this is very frustrating and I've spent lots of time trouble shooting and trying to figure out possibilities

View 4 Replies View RelatedI've been getting that message for a while. When I try to look at the Sidebar properties, which I find using the Start/Search feature, nothing opens. When I go to the Sidebar folder in C:/Program Files/Windows Sidebar, there are 3 items there: a subfolder labeled Gadgets, a Configuration Settings icon labeled Settings, and a Sidebar application icon. If I click on the application icon, I just get the "Windows sidebar is not working" message. All of this happened after a System Restore a couple of months ago.

I install a fresh copy of Vista 64-bit and every thing is working fine. after windows install all updates and become up to date my Windows Sidebar crashes and don't want to start. every time i try to run it i get an error message and this happen only after the updates but before it it's works fine so is there any way to make it run normally again?

A while ago I even removed one gadget at the time to see if it would stop crashing but it didn't. Yesterday I reformatted my computer because of another problem I had and one of the first things that happened was "windows sidebar stopped working". It happened again today. I still have almost only drivers and windows updates installed so what can be causing this problem?

If i save it off as a .zip and then change extension to .gadget it looks okay but then when i click on it and click install it does nothing. But if i put the folder into SERPROFILE%AppDataLocalMicrosoftWindows SidebarGadgets it will show in my gadgets and i can use it, any ideas why when i put it to a .gadget file it wont install?
