View 6 Replies View RelatedI don't know why but sometimes movies and such are played upside down in WMP, I opened the file in windows movie maker the first time it happened, thinking it was just the file, so I was going to turn it around, but in WMM the file played right side up. I tried it in VLC Media player, and again it played right side up. Then I ripped a dvd and again it was upside down in media player but other players played it right side up. Now it's not ALL videos that play upside down, only some, I"m not sure what's going on. does anyone know how to fix this?
View 5 Replies View RelatedOn the demise of my old computer, I've bought a shiny new one, complete with Windows Vista. I've had it four days, and so far it's only crashed twice. Is this... normal? The other thing it does is randomly stop for 15-20 seconds, and then start working again, as if nothing has happened.
I've not even been doing anything particularly strenuous; just browsing the internet and playing music, when suddenly the music stops, and the computer does nothing for 20 seconds, and then it's back. Anyone know what the problem might be with this, and if there's anything I can do about it?
Vista is constantly freezing up, and I really like to fix it, The cooling is good enough, The power is good enough, And the memory seems fine since I already did a memtest. It freezes at random times while doing things like browsing the web or playing a game, Ive used XP before and it had the same problem
View 9 Replies View RelatedI normally use Windows DVD maker to burn movies and for some unknown reason, it just won't burn :/ So, in order not to wait forever for the encoding stage AND finding out I still have a burning issue, I then founf a program called 'ConvertxToDVD' which I'm sure your familiar with. Encoded my movie perfect, but same problem, will not burn, although, it did get to something like 48% but then spat it out. I don't understand why its doing this as I have never had this problem before hand until now (my luck only) and to top things off, my DVD+RW won't erase.
I browsed the internet and came across this website to do with IDE/SATA and my properties wasn't the same as this persons. Instead of showing 'Master'and 'Primary' mine shows 'Port 0' and 'Port 1' -surely there's something wrong?

I am trying to play a DVD movie that I burned about a year ago. It has always worked previouly, but now when I try to open it from Autoplay or from Computer, I get a message telling me that Windows Explorer has stopped working. Can you help me with this one?
View 9 Replies View RelatedMy machine is running Vista Ultimate, and I discovered the other day that Windows Media Player no longer plays DVDs. It used to, but it doesn't now. (Because I don't play DVDs on my computer very often, I have no way of knowing exactly how long this has been going on.) When I try to play a DVD in Media Player, I get the message that "Windows Media Player has stopped working," with the explanation that "A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available." (It perhaps goes without saying that I have yet to receive any such notification.) I'm provided with no other information about the problem; only a Close Program button that shuts down Media Player. I still seem to be able to play MP3s with Media Player, just not watch DVDs. On a whim, I decided to load up Media Center to see if maybe that would make a difference. While I still can't play DVDs, I at least get a different error message: "Application Failure: A critical Windows Media Center process has failed. Please restart the computer and try again. If the problem persists, contact your hardware manufacturer for assistance."

Once you have watched the Mov/Vid and stop it and say you are done it sits in the main screen menu as now playing - eventually to start again of its own accord. The only way to stop this happening is to close VMC and reopen it.
View 5 Replies View Relatedrecently I have connected my laptop (Toshiba A135-S4467) to my CRT TV via S-video. this laptop came with a Vista home premium 32bit OS. I have converted it to XP Pro. when I watched movie files (at any player, any file type) on the TV (I used extended desktop option) there was no problem. 2 weeks ago I have re-converted the laptop to Vista OS (using Toshiba's restore disks). and now the problem: when I try to watch movie file (DVD, AVI, MPEG....) on the TV (with any player) the picture has for distortions that can be seen only on the TV screen and not on the computer LCD. I'm using the same hardware as with the XP and I'm using the same TV and the same settings. changing the resolution hasn'the distortion can be seem like offset lines in the middle of the screen.

This guide shows you the way to convert 'DVD video to AVI' format with uncompressed codec and less compressed codec to play on Windows Media Player, to further edit video, to import AVI video to PowerPoint, Windows Movie Maker, and so on.DVD generally stands for Digital Video Disc or Digital Versatile Disc. DVD, providing large space and interactive content, has been widely used as data storage of video, audio, games, presentation, and so on. For DVDs with movies, there are three kinds of files under the VIDEO_TS folder, i.e. VOB, IFO, and BUP files. A VOB contains data for video (generally MPEG-2), audio and subtitles. IFO Files contain the data for player navigation, such as the start of a chapter, the control of subtitle, and so on. BUP files are just backup files of the IFOs.............

View 5 Replies View RelatedPretty much from the word go Vista was locking up hard. Its response to pretty much any problem it encounters is immediately freeze and be unrecoverable. It's not all random and without pattern, however. Initially it was clear that Windows Update was causing an issue. Shutting off Windows Update didn't stop the freezing, but it prevented the system from freezing 100% of the time minutes after the OS loaded up. Trying to update manually did the same thing. I eventually discovered that there is a temp folder I can delete related to updates that will stop this problem, but it only works for a day or two before it goes back to freezing.
Oh, but that's not all... I've been able to figure out a number of specific things that can cause freezes over repeatedly doing them... Sort of. For example:
* If I start up Google Chrome or Firefox within 5 minutes of getting to the desktop, there's a good chance I'll freeze on some random web page.
* A video player made my system freeze. A flash one. One I'd run perfectly fine before. I went to the page, freeze. Restarted. Went back to the page, immediate freeze. Stopped going to that page... Next day that page and that player worked fine..........
I have had this new HP vista media centre computer for 2 weeks, and can't get Media Centre to play 1/2 the 500 gb worth of movies that my old XP media Centre played without any trouble at all! Some are MPEG-4, others are div-x, some are Dvd format. I have seen others with similar posts in other forums and I have loaded up all the lates codecs (safe one) from Divx, and ffdshow etc... I have to play all my movies with Nero or Media Player, which both have no issues with. I feel like this is a dud, and can't believe that a full hard recovery is worth the trouble.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI bought a new computer--a COMPAQ f756nr notebook PC--and Vista was pre-installed. I connect to the internet via wireless modem and use cable internet connection. Everything looks terrible to me versus my old laptop computer--a Toshiba--and my old system, XP. I brought my computer back to Best Buy and the Geek Squad reps there looked at the computer and told me it was fine, just the way Vista looks on a computer and I should get used to it. Since I got this computer last week, I'm absolutely miserable and don't know what to do. I used to watch tv shows on my computer and email pictures but everything looks so bad.
