On the demise of my old computer, I've bought a shiny new one, complete with Windows Vista. I've had it four days, and so far it's only crashed twice. Is this... normal? The other thing it does is randomly stop for 15-20 seconds, and then start working again, as if nothing has happened.
I've not even been doing anything particularly strenuous; just browsing the internet and playing music, when suddenly the music stops, and the computer does nothing for 20 seconds, and then it's back. Anyone know what the problem might be with this, and if there's anything I can do about it?

Been getting the dreaded blue screen of death seemingly at random times. Might happen once today, nothing for a week, then 3 times in an hour. This always seems to occur when surfing the net, at least it has never happened when I'm doing non-internet-related activities anyway. No new hardware that I haven't used before so I have no clue what prompted the sudden changes. The error screen says: IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL : Stop:0x0000000A (0x00000010,0x0000001B,0x00000001,0x821BCFF9).................

Until just recently my x64 has been freezing completely on me randomly..I'm not sure if anyone else uses Cox Communications for the internet, but after I set it up on this computer it's gone bad on me... first if I were to listen WMP it stops midway song and everything stops working, then just browsing the net will freeze it, CTRLaltdlte won't work and I have to shut it down manually...
I have run chkdsk soooo many times, I have also downloaded a registry repair program, defrag, dsk cleanup, and everything imaginable. I want to avoid defrag because I don't want to loose my files and programs.

Going back to the days when I used to run Win2k, I found the full version of Winamp used randomly crash (i.e. it stopped playing my MP3's), so I installed Winamp V5.08e lite. No more random crashes. Now I have Ultimate I don't like Winmonkeys Media Player, so I have installed the recommended version of Winamp for my 32 bit OS V5.5.4.2147.....

My windows explorer is constantly freezing! It wont let me change the volume or battery settings. I go to change the volume and it doesnt go up, so then I click on the taskbar and it shows the hour glass and then a message pops up saying "Windows Explorer is not responding" and this happens to me all the time. i have done the same thing and am having the same problem on my hp tx1219us laptop every time i try to adjust volume with the hard keys it doesnt work and i have to restart explorer.exe to make it work, half the time doing that doesnt help either. i have to fully restart my pc. system restore wont work because the problem is percistent and has been around for over 90 days, i dont want to do a full restart of my pc as i have done it before and encountered the same problem again, i ran sfc and it gave me this: Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them. Details are included in the CBS.Log windirLogsCBSCBS.log.
For example C:WindowsLogsCBSCBS.log,C:Windowssystem32>windirlogscbscbs.log The system cannot find the path specified. i dont want to do a full restart of my pc,

I was wondering if anybody out there is having freezing/random restart problems using Asus' p6t deluxe MOBO or having problems using Corsair's 6GB 1333Mhz ddr3 tri channel (TR3X6G1333C9) while using Ultimate64.

Got it from Best Buy.* *I'm not sure what info is needed to help identify a problem so I'll try & provide as much as I can.*...Here is a copy of the last IE problem report~ *description*a problem caused this program

I switched from x86 to x64 Vista Business. I did it because of upgrading from 2GB to 6GBs RAM. Install and updates went fine and then I saw, task manager detects only 5Gigs of ram. So I went to BIOS and set memory remap to Enabled. And after than, Vista detects all 6Gigs but have a random freezes after about 5 to 10 minutes running. I have the latest drivers, updated system and latest BIOS.

My HDD activity indicator lights up for 20 minutes and even mouse cursor freezes some times. This is because of uTorrent 1.8.3 and video conversion activity I guess. Will increasing of RAM from 2gb to 6gb help? Can I combine 2x1gb 800mhz installed modules with new 2x2gb 1066mhz modules? Page file is on G: HDD already, not C:. Windows Vista is x64.

I recently purchased a HP a6200n which works relatively well. The only complaint is that frequently (at least once daily) the system will lock up. When this occurs the only way out is to hold the power button down and reboot. When the system locks, the screen will actually freeze the contents and make it appear somewhat 'snowy'. This happened on a factory system OUT OF THE BOX. So I know this wasn't due to application software I loaded on top and I doubt very much it was a virus the system picked up.
Since this started I have done a full virus scan and also have reviewed the event logs after each fail and nothing in there is obvious. There's an 'unexpected reboot' message there from my forced power down. I've gone to nVidia to download the latest nForce 430 drivers which has not helped. It seems ahead of what MS is pushing as the version I have is dated 12/07 and the auto updates are telling me to pick up a 7/07 version. I've also loaded SP1 and all of the HP/MS updates a person can handle. Has anyone experienced this.

I installed SS2 on this PC (runs windows vista home premium 32bit), but sadly the game won't run correctly. I've looked around a little bit, and I see that not watching the videos is a common problem. But that's not my main problem <:/ I can run the game just fine for about 30 seconds... suddenly, it just freezes. The last sound is looped, and the mouse is frozen.

I had the F7 bios, had to update to the F8 because the bios reports the wrong size on 1 TB hard drives. Flashed the bios from the Qbios utility right out of the bios setup screen and all was well. Vista Ultimate set up fine. No errors or problems. As expected Vista is only reporting 3.5 GB of ram. The first thing I did was install the chipset drivers that I downloaded from gigabyte.
Halfway through the install vista started random hangs and froze during the install. Had to kill the power. Used lkg to get back in. Reinstalled the chipset drivers with no trouble. It's been hang up and freeze randomly ever since. Maybe it's the ram issue? Maybe the chipset drivers? Gonna try removing some ram tonight until I can get some windows updates. If I don't do anything the system is fine. I can even browse the web. It seems to act up when I try to install drivers or updates.

Example 2: "The Postmaster said my mail box is nearly full! I have a lot of messages in my sent Items folder, but Vista won’t let me delete them!? What do I do now?" Installed vista on my gaming comp and had a Trendnet TFM-560x modem. Modem would connect between 42.5k-48k but would experience long pauses, high latency and disconnects. I replaced with a USR 5686E and first connect was 49.2k which immediately paused, experienced high latency and crashed the game I was playing. Updated firmware and drivers but modem connects anywhere from 28.8k-48k but experiences same problems as before. It's not the ISP or phone lines I've gone down those roads already,

I'm don't even know if this is a Vista issue but I'm beginning to run out of areas to investigate. While playing WoW, my computer screen will freeze for approximately 3-5 seconds. Generally speaking, this happens after I've been playing for "a while". I've had it happen as soon as 30 minutes into my gaming, or as late as 3-4 hours; however, once it starts it then repeats itself with increasing frequency, reboots seems to help a little. There is no "trigger" that sets it off, I've had it happen in indoor environments, outdoor environments, 25 man raids, or by myself.

During this freeze my toon online will just stand there like an idiot. On my end, the video completely freezes but whatever sound was playing at the moment of freeze will play itself over and over at about 1/2 second intervals, kind of a machine gun effect of sound. I also get a sound from the computer case that might be the sound of a hard drive getting accessed..................

pc runs fine untill i load a game up pretty much WOW it effects the most, could be after 5 mins of loadin the game up i can get a freeze unable to ctl/alt/del etc only way to get out of the freeze is by a hard reboot, but sometimes it can go a day or 2 without a lock up.
ive had this exact same problem since i bought this pc around 9 months ago, originally it had a 8800 gfx what i blamed for the random freezes ingame so i switched to an ATI 3870HD and it seemed fine for a while but the problem started to reacure again about 2 months ago, only solvable by a hard reboot, i also tried everything to fix this ie: new drivers, new hardware formatting partioning the drives etc and still the problem persists even after buying 4 gig of new corsair too.
is there a way i can check the heat sync on the mobo? to see if its overheating as before i replaced the 8800 nvidia the shop i bought it from said thats what was causing the problem ...

I bought this computer about 2 months ago, installed a few games and anti-virus etc. I can play the games fine (Warhammer, WoW) on max graphics with no problems at all however the whole computer will just randomly freeze while playing. The freeze only lasts for about 10-30 seconds, during the freeze the sound loops in the background and the computer acts as if it is working really hard, occasionally it ends in a blue screen although this has only happened twice out of about 60 freezes. I have updated all drivers, checked my network and hardware etc. I thought it may have been a problem with DirectX as when i installed one of my games it froze on the install, i have since reinstalled DirectX off a clean download with no problems.

This is about my fifth build, and it went great: loaded up the OS and updated all drivers (using only 2 GB RAM), started (cautiously) loading up all my software, taking care to only load software that had 64 bit driver support, as far as I could tell. I am a graphic designer and creative director, so I use Adobe CS3 and Office and game a little. Use Skype very frequently. First off, SoundBlaster had no 64 bit support (I have never had much confident in Creative), so I simply took out the card and thought I might wait or scratch it.

More importantly, the system freezes. Hangs. Stalls, what-have-you. Just stops and needs a hard reboot. Any sounds playing at the time would stutter like a broken cd. I tried many things and am not overclocking. Eventually, needing to get work done, I simply figured there wasn't enough 64 bit driver support and yesterday fresh installed the 32 bit Vista using the alternate DVD that came in the package. Unfortunately, the system is behaving in exactly the same way.

My vista keeps locking up after various amounts of time, no matter whether its just idling, or im making the computer work hard. As ive read on other topics, I think its a driver issue, but I just dont know what to do. I will try another fresh vista install tomorrow and get the vista updates quickly to see whether that helps the situation. I have ensured it isnt overheating like it did initially when I bought the system, and it is now a safe and low temperature in a running state. Also, it only detects 3.5Gb of the 4Gb of RAM I have in my system. PC Spec:

Ive re-installed, windows, and it froze after I installed the chipset driver. I contiuned, and found a sound driver wasnt digitally signed. However it still crashes. I have got the latest drivers for it. For it to crash, all i did was open recycle bin, from idle state.

so on almost EVERY game I play, when I start it up, black screen, (Which isnt that much of a problem, i mean starting a game can take a long time.) and I enjoy it. I need to do something, check something, or do anything non game wise, I have to minimize. Well, here is where I get frustrated. I alt+tab, alt+delete, anything, even open up task manager, I get either a black screen, or a frozen screen (depending on the game) for about 30 seconds. Nothing I can do. After it is done pissing me off, my computer goes to desktop, or whatever, and then its fine. I go back to the game? Another freeze. I am running a Vista Home Premium x64 dell computer, with intel quad core, and nVidia Geforce 9800 GTX+ graphics card. (Im not exactly sure on how to fill out specs, so feel free to ask for anything you might need to know)
