Window Lost Pictures.
Feb 6, 2009The problem previously when I had started Windows Help and Support window everything was O'K, but then pictures are disapeared. See attached picture grabbed from the screen. How to get them back?

Everything Lost In Pictures
Feb 21, 2010Something strange occured on my computer. Within last week everything in MyPictures folder (except link to Sample Pictures) lost somehow. I did not find any traces of my 3000+ photos in Recycle Bin, in neighbouring locations of Windows Explorer tree and even searches of lost (deleted) files with some freeware recovery soft. Could it be some of the recent updates, after what my computer was restarting automatically? Has anyone any clue, where to search or how to avoid such of surprises in the future? I had some backups on external devices, but not all...

May 5, 2008I recently downsized from three monitors and two video cards to two monitors and one video card. However, I have one program that keeps coming up on the third monitor even though there is no third monitor.
Does anyone know how to get that program to load on the main monitor?
You would think Microsoft would be smart enough to fix Vista so that it realized a monitor was now missing and open the programs on the default screen.
Lost Non-maximized Media Center Window
Nov 2, 2007how to I reset the default window size and position of Vista Media Center? I somehow managed to either re-size it or move it off of the reachable portion of the desktop. If I go non-maximized the window shrinks off up towards the top and disappears. If I try and select move or size it takes me to the top of the screen and shows the arrows to move and size, but I cannot find or move / size the window. Is there a way to reset the default window position?

Jul 17, 2008I've noticed that if you follow these steps, the cursor isn't on the file anymore:
1) Open a folder with some files.
2) Click on a file. Pressing the arrow keys should move the file selection around (I call this the cursor).
3) Minimize the window.
4) Restore the window.
5) The cursor isn't on the file anymore. The current selected file has a gray background. Pressing arrow keys have no effect on the file selection. Does anyone know how to fix this?

May 15, 2010I have recently had strange pixilated images mixed in with our photos when playing music and selecting slide show, our photos appear along with random images, they are not coming from MY PICTURES folder as i have right clicked when the odd pic appears and they are coming from random folders that i can't find.
I thought the strange graphics were coming from itunes or Tom Tom so i have uninstalled them both...but the images keep coming. How do i stop media center looking and producing these annoying images
Pictures Disappeared From Pictures Folder!
Aug 26, 2009All the pictures in my Pictures folder have disappeared, leaving behind a bunch of empty folders. I did not delete them, and I have no viruses according to AVG. It appears that this happened to a few others on this forum, but no solutions were presented. I noticed that the Read Only button was checked on the main folder, so I unchecked it, and I watched the status window un-apply "read only" protection from all my actual pictures files, so it seems to me that they're still there but invisible.
I performed a system restore, and Recova is in the process of performing a "Deep Scan" for my pictures (the quicker scan did not find the files). Has anyone solved the problem of the disappearing pictures? Is this a Vista problem, or perhaps a problem with an update?
Explorer Window Showing Different Filenames Than The Command Line Window
Mar 25, 2008Can anyone explain this: 3219. The screenshot shows the folder view (in Windows Explorer), and a directory listing (in a Command Line window). Why is the Explorer window showing different filenames than the command line window? It's not so much of an issue, as I'm currently completing a scheduled backup of this drive using Nero Burning ROM, and will be formatting it soon.

Mar 23, 2008I have been trying to send JPEG files by email unsuccessfully. I get no error message the only sign they haven't gone out comes when the folks I'm mailing say they never arrived. These are not large files (472kb).
Is it maybe the security either in the Vista or the Norton? I can't figure out what or what to do to fix it. I'm a facepainter, I NEED to be able to send pictures.
Pictures In Documents
Mar 23, 2008I am having the hardest time trying to catagorize & rename my pictures. Everytime I go to a picture file in my document files, I highlight the pictures that I want to rename. Then when I click rename & type the name of the pics that I want labeled, it scrambles the pictures in a different order & the numbers of the pics are pic 1, pic 1, pic 2, pic 2, etc, etc.

Jun 11, 2008I am having the same problem as Scubiekim - except I DO use Windows Vista. When I put a CD-R in the drive, and try to burn pics onto it, it tells me I can't. Then every 5 minutes since I've tried, I get a balloon on the bottom of my screen saying "You have files waiting to be burned to disc. To view files, click this balloon". I then click the balloon, and nothing happens. I know it's not a problem with the CD, since I have other pictures on it, and it's not full. The pics I'm trying to work with are JPEG files, the same as the pics that are already on the disc.

Feb 6, 2009my "Pictures" folder, the whole thing, not just the contents got moved to the Music section. I guess I accidently dragged it there or something. I noticed it, wondered it something was wrong. So, I clicked on the start orb and clicked on my pictures. It was still there. So, I deleted the folder that was in my music section and now the whole pictures folder is gone. I tried the "shell:mypictures, but here's the thing... it seems it creating the folder on my DESKTOP. I have a hp 2200 all in one printer that worked fine with my old cheap $400.00 computer. My husband thought he would be nice and buy me an upgrade I now have an $1100.00 computer that won't scan pictures and after two months and more time than I have ever spent on a computer I am finding out this is not uncommon.

Sep 4, 2008I got the "Windows Explorer has stopped working" error. For me, it pops up as soon as I log into my account so I have no access to the start menu, anything at all like that. Once I log in, it goes to a grey screen where the error pops up. Unfortunately, I hadn't been using System Restore so that's not an option for me. Nov 9, 2008I have managed to lose all of my daughters photographs from when she was born until today. Basically my machine has been playing up for a while and I attempted to create a 'things to move' folder on the desktop to send all my important stuff too for when my external hard drive arrives on Monday. However I stupidly copied all of the data from the 'my documents' folder that sat on my desktop. This contained 'my desktop' and things spiraled as the 'things to move' folder was on the desktop but now also contained my desktop within it. Loads of error messages came up and I tried to back track by moving everything to a new location directly on the C: Drive.
I went to check the data tonight and couldn't find my daughters pics (they were stored in their own folder on the desktop itself) so i clicked the start button and typed the name of them. Low and behold in the search results all of my pictures appeared BUT only the thumbnails of them. If you click on the image to open it, it says it has been deleted or moved. It refers to the file name my documents/desktop/things to move/desktop/things to move/desktop......yadiyadiyada and despite searching everywhere I can't find the originals.
