View 4 RepliesI have recently had strange pixilated images mixed in with our photos when playing music and selecting slide show, our photos appear along with random images, they are not coming from MY PICTURES folder as i have right clicked when the odd pic appears and they are coming from random folders that i can't find.
I thought the strange graphics were coming from itunes or Tom Tom so i have uninstalled them both...but the images keep coming. How do i stop media center looking and producing these annoying images
All the pictures in my Pictures folder have disappeared, leaving behind a bunch of empty folders. I did not delete them, and I have no viruses according to AVG. It appears that this happened to a few others on this forum, but no solutions were presented. I noticed that the Read Only button was checked on the main folder, so I unchecked it, and I watched the status window un-apply "read only" protection from all my actual pictures files, so it seems to me that they're still there but invisible.
I performed a system restore, and Recova is in the process of performing a "Deep Scan" for my pictures (the quicker scan did not find the files). Has anyone solved the problem of the disappearing pictures? Is this a Vista problem, or perhaps a problem with an update?
I have no idea what I did but I have a folder on my desktop whose contents now appear to the left of the folder in a kind of veil all the way down the left side of the monitor. My icons that were on the far left are now to the right of those veiled folders located in the folder. I don't know how else to explain it. I absolutely hate Vista. I have never wasted so much time in my life. I see nothing better about it then XP but I spend hours trying find out what I've done without intention. I wish I could have gotten XP and foregone all the silly bells and whistles without paying an additional cost.

Peculiar sounds annoy me so I have set 'Sounds' to virtually nil using Control Panel/Sounds and disabling all the Windows boings and beeps and saved the setting as "My own".
However, I keep getting the odd boing, burp and beep, such as when closing a programme after pasting something and closing E7.
Is there somewhere else I should look to stop these irritants?
Some wonderful site recently visited (don't know which one) has added a nuisance toolbar just above the default one in my Vista Windows Mail. It inserted just under the File, Edit, View, Insert, etc bar and above the toolbar which includes Send, cut, copy, past, etc bar. how to eliminate this nuisance? Right clicking does not gime me any options.

View 9 Replies View RelatedAfter installing SP1 Media Center started listing the memory card reader slots as 4 drives in both the Video and Pictures libraries. These were never configured to be monitored in either MC or WMP and they weren't being listed in Media Center before SP1 was installed. Is there any way to remove these entries, and other root folders that sometimes show up, from the folders list in the library?

However I have a computer which is almost exactly the same and on mine it does not happen. How can we prevent these windows from popping up when we don't want them to. Is there a tojan or some virus somewhere that causes these windows to load? The computer even has McAfee antivirus software installed. How can I fix this problem besides reinstalling Windows Vista Home Premium from scratch and hoping it fixes the problem?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI stupidly tried installing the NV Sys Tools from nVidia's website as shown in the pic below as I meet the system requirments.
It didn't work so uninstalled but an annoying shortcut leading nowhere is still installed in my Control Panel Classic View (see pic #2) and I have tried getting rid of it using a combination of System Restore & regedit to no avail.
So recently I went into msconfig to disable unwanted startup programs. However I noticed one file that stands out and I'm not sure if it spyware or something else that could be a threat. MAagent.exe is in the start up tab and the description for the file is in korean. I tried googling the file and there was nothing I could find about it.

how to change settings to NOT have everyone who is cc'd in on something automatically added to my address book? I have hundreds of email addresses of people I don't know or want to know. Bonus points: tell me how to fix this in both (old) Outlook Express and in (new) Windows Mail.
View 5 Replies View RelatedWhen I download (like Adobe) from net, my OS asks not if I want to "run," but only if I want to "copy." Yes, from the "copy" I can install the wanted software. But the icon directing me to "install" remains on my desktop and all attempts to delete unwanted icon cause a failure to start on restart and the "repair" always replaces the icons. If I don't get an education, I'll eventually have a desktop full of icons I neither need nor want.

I am having the hardest time trying to catagorize & rename my pictures. Everytime I go to a picture file in my document files, I highlight the pictures that I want to rename. Then when I click rename & type the name of the pics that I want labeled, it scrambles the pictures in a different order & the numbers of the pics are pic 1, pic 1, pic 2, pic 2, etc, etc.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI am having the same problem as Scubiekim - except I DO use Windows Vista. When I put a CD-R in the drive, and try to burn pics onto it, it tells me I can't. Then every 5 minutes since I've tried, I get a balloon on the bottom of my screen saying "You have files waiting to be burned to disc. To view files, click this balloon". I then click the balloon, and nothing happens. I know it's not a problem with the CD, since I have other pictures on it, and it's not full. The pics I'm trying to work with are JPEG files, the same as the pics that are already on the disc.
