Uninstall Works Programme Still Opend

My laptop (running home premium) came with Works word processor installed, and Word as a teaser, which drives me mad.I have therefore downloaded open office, and am in the process of deciding if I should uninstall the windows works programme.As a result my documents are still opened,by default, with Works, but when I try to select OO.org from my list of programmes I have an endless choice of files to open. 2009-12-18_1112 How can I select OO to open these docs by default, and will it automatically open my documents once I've uninstalled Works?

I have tried going into Programs and Features and It show it but gives on option to uninstall.

I can make new files at desktop and save them but when i try to open them later it tell access denied I think i have this problem after i installed some softwares for users control -i uninstall all the softwares now-as i think also i'd like to mention that when i add everyone+FC i can open them from the desktop but otherways they can't be opend

The windows photo gallery in vista 32 has suddenly developed a weird problem. Thumbnails look exactly as expected but as soon as they're opened in the gallery viewer the main image displays in black and white with terrible vertical banding while the thumbnail in the upper right still shows perfect color. Properties show them as uncalibrated. This is happening on every image in my picture folder and sub folders. By the way the images look perfect in Photoshop elements 7 regardless of where they're seen, organizer, editor etc. This is only affecting the on screen larger view display in windows photo gallery.

Continued from: System Restore - disk space Do you have any idea why the space still continue to drop by 0.1, 0.2GB slowly even though i did not install any other programme? I am downloading something using Download Client, but the download is not even completed yet. The Disk space should'nt decrease right?

I have a new replacement HP computer with Vista Home premium and have installed a game called immortal cities Children of the Nile on it, and each time I try to run it I get the message in a box :- Microsoft visual c++ runtime library :- X runtime error, programme C:programme filesimmortal citiescotn.exe. :- Abnormal programme termination.
this is what I get every time I try to play the game and a spinning disc replaces the curser and I am unable to eject the play disc unless I reboot my machine. I know this game is compatable with Vista home premium as my previous HP computer ran it no problem, the only thing I can think of which is obvious is that the game needs Active X 9 to run the programme and my replacement machine (the previous one died) had Active X 10 pre-installed and I am not sure if this could create a problem I have tried unstalling the game 3 or 4 times and re-installing it to no effect?

I see that I am not alone in experiencing this problem. Attempts to remove the programme have failed - because I cannot find it. Attempts to access the "SpiralOrbit" website recommended by the problem support message fail, because the website does not exist: according to Windows own help window. Does anyone have any knowledge of what exactly is this programme and how one might remove it?

I must devellope a programme with visual 2005 and I must ensure that it operates under vista. My program is working properly when I execute from visual, but when I use just the executable, the program crashes. Apparently, the error would be in the file glee.c but I use the last version. There is no probleme with XP. I work on vista 32 familial premium edition SP1, with visual 2005 SP1 for vista. Has someone already had the same kind of probleme?

I have just installed the above and updated the latest definititons, and as someone who knows, not a lot re.computers,does that mean it takers the place of an anti-virus programme? I have AVG installed and I'm happy with it. I'm not sure if the above will conflict with AVG as it says MSE it is a virus and spyware scanner.

i try to open an email attachment I get the following message This file does not have a programme assosiated with it for performing this action. Create an assosiation in the Set Assosiation control panel. Please could someone helpas I have no idea what to do to overcome the problem also could you break it down to its simplest form as I have only the basic knowledge of computers.

can you tell me a way to uninstall Call of Duty other than through putting in the disk and pressing UNINSTALL or in the 'All Programs'? Because it just won't uninstall there: I press install and the window simply closes and nothing else. I am asking this because I have found some patches on the Activision website (now I can get on it again) and I wan't to reinstall it...

I have Vista Home Premium 32 bit.
I was having problems installing a program (Berlitz German Premier) where the install would just disappear halfway thru the process. A program would not appear under my programs list but when I went to Uninstall an icon for uninstall of the Berlitz software appears for each time I tried to install it. However I get the following error messages (see attached document with screen captures) when I tried to delete it the traditional way.
When I use Windows Install Clean Up utility, the program is nowhere to be found on the list; thus I can't use that program.

Somehow the 'uninstall' button disappeared for most programs on my Vista Home Premium box when I used Control Pannel -> Programs -> Uninstall a Program. A few programs still have 'uninstall' button available - those have 'installed on' showing. The rest (80+% of all)don't have 'installed on' values showing and don't have 'uninstall' button.

after using works word processing to construct a Resume and coverletter, once sent as an email attachment, the recipents could not open them. They had XP systems and I had the same problem when sending to a computer on the network. Do I have to have a converter system (works to Excel) or something of that type.

Right now I'm using Vista Ultimate 32-bit. I've 3gb of ram and I have all drivers for 64-bit. Is it reasonable to go for 64-bit? And, will all 32-bit software work in 64-bit OS?

I have Diskeeper 2008 which does NOT work on large drives (over 1TB). The new Diskeeper does, but I don't want to pay their ridiculous prices again, now with add-ons. (yes, I have a lot of files on my Vista box) So, I need:
1. Vista compat.
2. Works with over 1TB
Is there ANYTHING good out there? Please don't tell me to use MS defragmenter.

firefox or ie 32 bit does not work, it wont connect to the internet, neither will aim. however i can go on websites with ie x64 bit version. but i cant go to Internet and such because flash doesnt work with the 64 bit version.

Why does a VPN connection setup with an XP computer so easy and it fails when I try to set up the connection with a VISTA Ultimate computer. Since Microsoft knows the default settings within XP to create the VPN connections why not have MS make available the necessary changes to the default settings in VISTA in order to make this connection work from VISTA. Have had to add an XP box at the office for on connection. And more money for MS software.

Most posts want advice on how to resolve an issue with existing hardware or software. I'm asking for advice on what to buy to avoid any issues. I need a SATA DVD burner for my new x64 build. So far I just have the case, power supply, and processor. In my wish list is the RAM, MB, HD, and OS. Each has been verified to at least "work" with x64 Vista according to the MS compatibility list. Now I'm looking for a DVD burner that some of you existing x64 users have installed and like.

I have had this problem for a long time, but i'm beginning to get really sick and tired of it.
First and foremost, let me quickly explain the issue:
- Autorun NEVER works
- When i insert a disc or USB device, nothing happens
- When i go to My Computer and double click on the drive, Vista asks me if i want to format the CD/DVD
- Vista thinks that every CD/DVD i insert is blank... This includes mounting an ISO via Daemon tools........

My old mouse is dieing so i got a new one, i installed it as i was told to but it does not work. When i plug it in saying it was installed ok and there is power getting to the mouse as it all lights up, but the laser never turns on. I collected all the working mouses i had avalible and found that none of them work but if i plug my old mouse in it works right away.

Just thought I'd pass along some info I came across after setting up my newest 64 bit machine and connecting an older but definitely not outdated Epson Perfection scanner. I really love this scanner and it's auto-restoration features for older photos, so I was not willing to give it up. I found the following website with instructions for finding the correct drivers. Nafcom's Crap Blog!: Epson Perfection 2480 Photo: Vista X64 drivers work in Windows XP X64!
Apparently, Epson built support for x64, but hid the drivers within the installer for 32 bit systems. No search on any version of their support website shows driver downloads under 64 bit. I did what was described in that article, and have my scanner working beautifully on Vista x64. I can say that I downloaded drivers both from the European site as well as the U.S. site. The driver file each installs is no different, but the scan utility is a slightly different version. I went with the U.S. version in the end, it being what looks like a higher version number (3.04a instead of 3.0u... hard to tell if there's any real difference, as there was no language issues or anything).

I'm running Home Premium x64. The build is only ~1month old and previously the sidebar was working fine. Apparently I've fouled something up. The sidebar loads fine, runs fine, looks fine. Here is the problem; Gadgets like Pro Weather, or Hermes, where the user has the option of opening up a larger screen to the left of the gadget.. those screens are unresponsive.
For example in the weather app, I click the little arrow to expand the gadget, it brings up the larger window with options to view the radar, or nightly forecasts, or moon phases etc, but my clicking ANYWHERE on that screen is unresponsive.. it just doesn't work. I thought maybe it was the weather app, but then noticed the same thing on Hermes. Hermes is a news ticker. When you hover over a story it brings up the full story in a pane to the left, with clickable links for the actual web story. Again, all mouse input in this pane seems to be restricted, and the links do not work.
I don't recall the exact moment when I lost control of this. Over the past few weeks I have installed / uninstalled Norton AV, and used a utility called 'Vista Manager'. Currently I am running no AV. The Vista Manager program is pretty neat actually. I didn't make any kind of drastic changes with it, but thats not to say it isn't someone related. Maybe it stopped a required service or something? Who Knows.
