Uninstall Vista Running The Licensed Copy

Jul 19, 2009

I have a legally obtained retail copy of Windows Vista Home Premium (32-bit). Shortly after first purchasing it, I installed it as a secondary OS via Apples Boot Camp utility onto an iMac Aluminum. Later on, I obtained a new Gateway notebook that came with Windows Vista Home Premium (64-bit) pre-installed. Wishing to replace the 64-bit pre-installed version of Windows Home Premium with a freshly installed 32-bit version, I did so using the aforementioned legally obtained retail disc without error. When the time came to activate windows on the new notebook, I was informed that I would have to either purchase a secondary license for the product or activate the product through Microsofts phone activation service. I chose the latter and Vista was up and running with a successful activation soon after. Unbeknownst to me and pointed out later by a friend, this was apparently an illegal means of activating my copy of Vista Home Premium on the new notebook because the Vista EULA specifically denotes that only one computer may be graced with this licensed copy at any time. I am concerned about the legality and/or consequences of this, even though I explained the situation to Microsoft during the activation process and the representative I was speaking with did not seem to have an issue with it. Does anyone have any insight on this? Should I uninstall Vista from my iMac so that only my new notebook is running the licensed copy? I have talked with Microsoft support about this and they succeeded only in confusing me further.

SP2 Adds Watermark Evaluation Copy To Fully Licensed X-64 Ultimate Desktop

Mar 25, 2009

I know Vista SP2 is still in "beta" phase but unlike W7 where the WHOLE OS is a beta I've legally paid for a VISTA license -- so after installing SP2 knowing it is still in beta and will expire in Apr I was a bit peeved to see Evaluation Copy stamped on my Desktop - especially when I've PAID for a full VISTA ULTIMATE license. This implies to management etc etc that I've downloaded a temporary copy of the OS rather than a Service Pack especially the water mark doesn't even MENTION SP2 on it. This is the sort of stuff that makes me want to go to torrents to look for cracks in how to get rid of this stuff.

Created Another Partition On My Drive For Vista X64. (two Other Partitions Running Vista X86)

Mar 14, 2008

I'm new to Vista x64 (the op sys as well as this site). I have just endeavored to try out Vista 64 bit on one of my workstations. I run VMWare Workstation at work and can use the additional memory addressing of Vista 64 (I have 4 gigs of RAM). nyway, my problem is this.

1) I created another partition on my drive for Vista x64. (two other partitions running Vista x86).
2) I have been running dual boot with Vista for quite a while and it runs fine.
3) After creating the new partition and installing Vista x64 with SP1 (integrated service pack on install DVD), I get drive corruption problems all over the place.

I have 3 500 gigabyte Western Digital drives in this machine. The first is for operating system partitions and the second strictly for backup (using Acronis True Image) and the third for data. The data drive seems to have problems reading when I attempt to install additional drivers for the x64 bit environment (just downloaded from the web). Also, I soon will get errors afterwards on the C drive also.

Since the computer does not have an older version of Windows, and you cannot uninstall Vista, what steps will it take to downgrade the new system. Please point me in the right direction.

Uninstall Vista And Reinstall Old Xp

Oct 28, 2009

I ran four businesses with Windows XP and Outlook Express email entities. I now have Vista and much to my chagrin, Windows Mail has no such option. I'd like to spend ten minutes alone with an aluminum baseball bat and the whiz kid who thought up that little improvement. Also, the idiotic way to create shortcuts in Vista. I run gun auctions on the internet and need to do shortcuts all the time for various auctions as they update. I now have a Dell Studio XPS 435TM with 12 gig RAM. Can I uninstall Vista and reinstall my old XP program so I can replace Windows Mail with Outlook Express again?

How Uninstall Windows Vista?

I replaced an Asus M2N-SLI mobo for an Asus M3N-HT Deluxe Series mobo that has Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bit installed on the SATA 1 HD. On the SATA 2 HD opensuse linux 11.1 is installed. When I booted for the first time the Asus M3N-HT Deluxe Series the Windows Vista Home Premium ran well, and I did not have any problems reactivating the operating system. I did had problems with opensuse linux 11.1, but after reinstalling it again on the second HD drive it also works well. I bought a Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit Installation DVD, but I cannot install it. How can I uninstall Windows Vista Premium 32-bit so that the new 64-bit version will install properly on the SATA 1 HD?

Program Wont Uninstall It With Uninstall Or Install Cleanup Utility

I was having problems installing a program (Berlitz German Premier) where the install would just disappear halfway thru the process. A program would not appear under my programs list but when I went to Uninstall an icon for uninstall of the Berlitz software appears for each time I tried to install it. However I get the following error messages (see attached document with screen captures) when I tried to delete it the traditional way.

When I use Windows Install Clean Up utility, the program is nowhere to be found on the list; thus I can't use that program.

Didn't Viao's Copy Of Windows Vista

Aug 7, 2009

Vaio Laptop that was in desperate need of a wipe and reinstall. Unfortunately she didn't know where her Vaio's copy of Windows Vista Premium was. While I was at my campus bookstore, I asked them if they had a copy of just the media itself as I already had my sister's Vaio license. They sold me a copy of the Ultimate version for $20 or $40 dollars, I don't remember how much exactly. I knew that the Ultimate version had all the versions, including the Premium version my sister had a license for. I used Magical Jelly Bean Keyfinder to look up her license which I e-mailed to myself. I reinstalled Vista which installed as the Premium version, just as I expected. Five to six hours later I had everything set up. I thought everything was activated and working just fine. I was wrong.

And now a week later, my sister brings me her laptop and complains herbackground is gone. The operating system had reverted itself to its limited "Illegal State". Frustrated and not wanting to spend another five hours redoing it all, I tried using the license that came on the back of the CD that I got at my campus bookstore which Windows refused. It won't allow me to upgrade to Ultimate either. What is my best solution at this point? Will Microsoft support me in this? Can I get a disc replacement from Vaio? The last thing we want to do is have to buy another license. I don't know if if its okay to use the license that came on the back of my Ultimate disc either.

Running Vista Dla Was Not Supported By Vista

May 20, 2009

I know after running the Vista advisor that the old Sonic Software DLA was not supported by Vista, so uninstalled all "Known" versions of it before upgrading from XP SPF3 to Vista Ultimate SPF1, but somehow and Sonic/Roxio support has been of no help, I still have a component of DLA that is being Blocked every Logon. This is an anoyance and a nuisance , not like the BSOD issues, but have tried 2 different MS Fixit routines so far and each one has cripled my system, requiring a Reboot / Repair, so No more Auto Fixes. If anybody has an answer "Other than Delete the DRVMCDB.Sys file", and reboot. I have googled it and other forums have tried to sell "Driver Doctor", etc. but nothing I see as usefull. All other systems are fine and the drive works

Is there any reason why I should not consider moving to the 64 bit version? If not does your MB make a difference as I use a Gigabyte GA-EP35C-DS3R mobo.
