System Recovery Getting File: BootBCD Status: 0xc000000f

Sep 29, 2009

I got a brand new Hp pavillion laptop, and 4 days after i got it it gave me the : File: BootBCD Status: 0xc000000f. so i needed to wait 6days because i didnt burn the System recovery discs so needed to order it. In the system recovery kit it had 2 system recovery dics 1 and 2, and a application and driver disc.

Now i cant turn off and on my laptop before i get the : File: BootBCD Status: 0xc000000f and this is the 3 time i'm doing system recovery. but i think it didnt work because i didnt use both Discs of the system recovery. i just dont know what could be worng. and i dont know how to get the second disc started when it's finaly up. So if somebody could tell me how i can get my laptop started again step by step with both disc's and maybe tell me how i can make this not happen again. I'ts a windows vista home premium SP1 64bit

1. Instert your windows installation disk and resart your computer.
2. Choose your language settings and then click "Next."
3. Click "Repair your computer."

If you don not have this disk, contact your system administrator or computer manufacturer for assistance.

I have followed all the instructions to no avail. I also entered the command eature and attempted to rebulid the bcd but it gives the error message "the requested system device cannot be found." I have a lot information on the hard drive so i would really like to be able to fix it without loosing any of the information.

File BootBCD : Error Occured Read The Boot

Apr 9, 2008

I ran windows update and the updates failed, I have sorted that out by stopping one update but now the computer wont boot without the vista disc being there. On start up everything is ok, it gets to verifying DMI datapool and I get a message something like File BootBCD - an error occured while attempting to read the boot config data ox000000f. I have run windows start up repair & this says it cant find a problem. I have used bootrec /scan and it returned 0 windows installs, /rebuild & Fixboot did nothing, I havent tried FixMbr cos I dont understand what that does and I dont want to make the problem worse - so long as I have the cd in I can ignore when it says press any key to boot from cd & it starts but why do I have to have the cd in? I tried one system restore but that made no difference, it seemed to say boot info wasnt part of the restore & I cant see anywhere to say I want that included but thats another question!

System Fat16 File System Recovery Won't Work

Jun 4, 2008

I have a system that has FAT16 file system on it. I have that file system on that for some reason so I don’t need to upgrade on that….but recently I had some files deleted and now I need to get them back. They are important for my official use and hold great importance. I know that there is software for recovery but since I have a FAT16 file system I guess that all won’t work on that.

"Windows Failed To Load Because A File Is Missing Or Corrupt File: Netio.sys Status: 0xc0000221

Oct 15, 2009

when i turn on my computer, an error message comes saying "Windows failed to load because a file is missing or corrupt File: Netio.sys Status: 0xc0000221" This started when i was clearing my computer of useless programs, and after i deleted Realtime player or Quicktime player, (can't remember which) an error message jumped from the taskbar saying something about Network device driver. After that every time i start the computer, the "Windows failed to load" message pops up. The first half a year, it was solved by pressing enter, to "Choose an operating system to start: Windows Vista" and then to "Windows error recovery (start windows normally, safe mode etc)" and back to "Windows failed to start", repeating it 3-20 times. Then i had a familiar "Unexpected shutdown" during a game, and now, the "Enter spamming technique" doesn't work anymore. All i can access at the moment is Windows memory diagnostic tool, and Bios setup utility. Is there any way to fix this through the setup utility or some other manner?

No Operating System On System Recovery

Nov 5, 2009

I recently have managed to gain a corrupt file on my computer this basically means my computer does not startup. I have a boot disk available for my system (Windows vista x64 ultimate). However when it comes to trying to select a operating system
in the system recovery options the box is blank and i have no operating system to select. I have a feeling the fact i have sata raid setup on my computer is the reason as to why i cannot see my C: drive. I know this will fix my computer if i can only locate an operating system to detect. I have already carried out all the usual suspects of what is wrong like system restore etc but i cannot find a hard drive to restore.

Best File Recovery Program

Nov 25, 2009

I need a good file recovery program that will run both under Vista and Win 7. It needs to be able to salvage files both deleted and those lost because of disc errors. It also needs to be able to work with both internal and external hard discs, and all flavors of CD and DVD. Any recommendations? Most of the ones that allow you to download a trial have crippled to trial so much that it's really hard to judge them. Incidentally, I ran the free Recuva on a DVD-RW; I started it at 12:30 PM and at 5:30 AM (17 hours later) it showed 89% complete, and at 8:00 it had stopped with the message "allocation error".

I am currently running the System Restore from the recovery partition on the computer, but it is freezing up again at the same spot.

System Recovery/restore

Apr 6, 2008

vista ultimate, no SP1 yet, cause it won't take on my system and Panda Titanium AV i get a message that says Panda has detected a worm on the computer and I need to restart it to complete the removal. i restart, and when I do, it goes to the desktop, but none of my programs work. every time i try to open one, it gives me a message saying wininet.dll is missing.

i can't open any programs at all. i can't open explorer at all. i tried a system restore, but it said it failed and did not reset anything. i don't know if it will help to boot it from the DVD, in fact, when i think about it, the DVD drive has not been working. if i try to put a CD or DVD in, the drive disappears from my system.. so i'm not sure that will be an option either short of going out and buying a new drive.

Lost Word File - Disappeared, Recovery!

Feb 9, 2009

I have been working on a chapter of my thesis, recently moving it all to my USB so I can work at uni too. Well, its totally disappeared, after I tried to save it tonight - it came up with an error, saying the file path was gone and that it would make a rescue save and close down! I tried to close everything else properly, but this one file just had the error message and I had to click ok.... and then it was completely gone. I wrote down the ~wrl file number, but searching for it yields nothing. There is one 'rescue file' but it has endnote reference coding (bibliographic software) and no text.

This isn't the first time this has happened, but the last time was years ago when Vista first came out and I learnt to put files on the C: to work one them - I forgot. I have recently changed my anti-virus software too, I've heard that can cause trouble. I have downloaded "Undelete" and it seems to be scanning forever. Before I googled I backed up my other chapters and emailed them to myself - but I backed them up (zipped to a folder) ON the USB, didn't realise that would be a bad idea, grr.

Backup/recovery/file Sharing Strategy

Apr 15, 2009

I have been interested to note that large numbers of forum members have home networks that consist of multiple PC's w/diff OS's and it made me wonder what backup/restore/file sharing strategies people have put in place to help them with the management of their networks. Now....I like to play/overclock/tweak/etc or windows update/Nvidia drivers/ Java upgrades/ etc sometimes break something unexpectedly which ends up with me needing to recover files, drivers and/or something else. I have noticed that restore points help but do not allow for complete recovery of all the files and folders on my pc's so I needed to use a different strategy to accomplish my needs.

In my case, I came down on the side of "Windows Home Server" to provide the above mentioned services because the OS now costs under $100 and will run on an older re-purposed pc (I built mine from scratch but the the principle remains the same). Drives are cheap (I use 5 drives in my server) and the OS will mirror the data in the shared folders across multiple drives so I don't lose valuable pictures (I would hate to have to explain to my wife that I lost the pictures of our kids or grandchildren and can't get them back), software, or the pc backups that will be needed sooner or later. The home server even monitors if my pc's have been backed up regularly or need to be backed (and notifies me should one need to be backed up, the default backup schedule is daily or I can manually backup after I make changes) and it even cleans up the backups for me retaining however many I tell it (default I believe is 3-daily, 4-weekly, 3-monthly) so I don't have to be bothered with the administration. Now I only have to maintain the files I share in one location (even my music library) and I just point to the shared file on the server from 5 different computers and because the restore can be down to a single file or folder instead of only the complete system I have been able to turn off restore points on the individual pc's and use this space for other uses.....

OS: Recognize The System Recovery Disk?

Apr 3, 2008

What are the basic differences between XP & Vista? All we do is surf the web, email and download an occasional game. Norton AntiVirus is always on and always up-to-date. My XP machine is dying big time & I can't figure out how to save it. It won't recognize the System Recovery disk that came with the machine, but it will recognize other CDs. That CD must be bent or whatever. The SPs are up to date. I'm running Office XP and it is taking Word and Excel 7 or 8 seconds to load; it used to open in a snap. I installed the latest edition of Firefox and loading web pages with it is taking too long. Most pages should just snap open. I guessed we've been "phished" or whatever because some of the ads I run into know that I live in Seattle. Our network connection is DSL and we haven't made any changes of any consequence that I know of to this machine in ages. I put SpyBot on it a week ago and twice when WinXP started, the Spybot folder opened. Not the program but the folder.

Do you install Windows on the new drive or just install the "ghost" image of the drive before it failed?

Not Switch Off The System Recovery Utility

May 19, 2008

First and foremost create a Recovery Disc and keep it safe and do not switch off the System Recovery utility. Do not remove the bloatware came with your PC unless you are desperate for space in your Hard disc,if and when you remove them do it one by one monitoring the response of the PC. If you couldn't get SP1,don't loose your sleep over it because it is not for the benefit of the user and it is designed to stop the user using other free third party softwares and tools(in my opinion anyway and remember I am not an expert).

Do not rely solely on the advices and do your own research as well because these so called advisers haven't provided me with tangible proof of their competence. Most of them hail vista as the best but wouldn't say why. If you ask any questions, they will blame you first for not asking the question properly and point you to a website to learn how to ask questions. Then they will request the third party software details and blame them. Now the turn of your hardware incompatibility which creates the problem. When everything fails they will accuse you of being an Ubuntu user. I suspect these so called experts use Ubuntu or some thing and pretend to be Vista experts and trying to damage the image of Vista. However, there are many helpful sites available and one of them is: www.vistax64.com If you do the basic housekeeping maintenance you will do fine.

System Recovery Stuck, Passwaord

Jun 28, 2009

My computer has been acting funny for several days (even though I told it to be serious!), anyway, last night, it was running v-e-r-y slow while I was trying to work on it, and then it just automatically rebooted itself. A screen came up that said to perform a System Recovery, so this morning I did the Recovery, but now I've been stuck on this same screen because it wants a password, which I don't know it, nor can I remember it. It's a Dell Inspiron 1525 which I bought from Dell April '08. Is there some way to get a password with having to be charged for Dell's help? I'm thinking of just tossing the laptop in the recycle trashbin, and buying a new brand.

Recovery Partition And Instead Reinstalling System

Does anyone know if there is a downloadable version of Vista? I have a gateway laptop and had a crash. I tried to use the recovery partition and instead of reinstalling my system, it wiped it and then said something to the effect of insert you recovery cd. Well I bought my computer at Best Buy and of course they don't provide the discs with the computer!! Ahhhhh!!!! My computer came with Vista installed and I have a valid CD Key, but no disk now. I have ordered a recovery disk, but it will take up to 8 business days to get here. Does anyone know if you can download an evaluation copy of Vista or any copy of Vista for that mater??? I figure all I need to do is get it installed and I can use my CD Key.

System Recovery Startup Freezing

Feb 11, 2009

I have an Acer 9410 laptop with Windows Vista and I had taken it to computer techs to fix some mouse pad problems as well as some startup freezing problems. They said it passed their PC check so didn't appear as anything was wrong. They said I could try to do system recovery to restore it back to its factory settings. Well, when I initially tried it, it didn't work so then, not thinking this through and not being as familiar with this as I would like to have been, I accidentally rand the Anytime Upgrade CD thinking it was also the recovery CD.

Of course, I found out after the fact that it was just that, so it reinstalled another version of Vista on my computer which then completely wiped everything including the Acer emPowering Technology software which contains the software to do the system Recovery. But it also removed some of my original drives like the memory card drivers, microphone, and maybe the webcam. In the process it saved a bunch of old Windows files to my hard drive. Are those still useful and is there any way
I can recover those drivers besides getting the recovery CD's which I can purchase from Acer or the store where I bought it from for around $40.

Locate The System Recovery Software

Apr 26, 2009

I aquired a Gateway GT5058 with a bad hard drive from my neighbor and I will note it had Win XP Media Center Edition installed. The bad hard drive was fully accessible from my Vista machine but the primary partition gives an "error to load operating system". Visible inspection of the hard drive shows a melted area so I am shocked the drive was able to be accessed since it will not boot in it's native machine. I had an old 40 gig drive laying around so I used a recovery disk from my Gateway laptop and low and behold it installed just fine and the machine is fully functional so I want to get another drive for it.

First problem is that the previous owner might be able to locate the system recovery software or he might not...I will probably know this in a few days. If he can locate it then I have no problems but I am preparing to have to restore this machine an alternative way which is what I need help with...........

She is in another state so it's very difficult to do over the phone since basically it's like being blindfolded. Her computer is messed up so it looks like recovering using link one is out of the question. So my question is if I have her use the link 2 which requires the disc, how should I have her do the recovery? When it comes time to select what kind of partition to create which do I select? Format partition? She is the kind of person who is not familiar with computers and gets aggrivated pretty easily so I'm trying to do this as easy as possible.

System Recovery Left Almost No Storage Space!

Apr 7, 2008

I previously had a problem on my Gateway Laptop Computer - Gateway Core2 Duo Centrino, that came pre-installed with Windows Vista Home Premium, which I could not fix. I had to do a System Recovery using the on-screen program and did not back up any of my files, in attempt to clear out everything that I had on the computer. After I completed this process, I set up my desktop and internet, and started over. When reviewing my Hard Disk Drives on my "Computer" menu, I notice that my C: Drive is almost all the way full (8.55 GB free of 139 GB).

Although I downloaded a few programs and set up my Internet Security, I am sure I did not install anything large enough to use up almost all of the computers storage space for programs and files. By doing the System Recovery I thought that it would erase everything so that my computer would be back to it's factory condition. Could my previous files still be in the computer? After searching this forum, I did not find any information on the specific question that convinsed me of the soultion,
or a course of action.

I created a restore point and went into the System Tools menu and attempted the disk cleanup on the recovery drive C: where Windows Vista is stored and then cleaned up the up the Shadow Copies, and nothing helped. I went through many windows folders and found nothing that would amount to the vast amount of space that is apparently taken up.
