Not Able To Tune Resolution To 1440 * 900
Jul 5, 2009I have installed New driver for Geforce 9600GT. But now I am not able to tune my resolution to 1440 * 900. the resolution either less than the normal I am using or more than that. My monitor is Wide screen 19'inch.

Mar 27, 2008I just got a new laptop with Vista Premium installed. My other computer is XP Pro. Connected to the XP machine is a Brother HL-1440 printer. The computers are on a wireless network. I can see & print to the printer from the Vista machine but the print from Excel comes out garbled. Test page prints okay. I found Vista drivers (PCL) on the brother's website but I am not sure what to do with the file. Do I install those drivers on the Vista or XP machine? I saw a post about makin a local printer port but I am not sure how that works.

Mar 23, 2008After an automatic windows update, my computer restarted and everything on the monitor has shrunk down in size including the toolbar, sidebar, mouse, internet explorer and everthing else. I have a Dell 22" widescreen LCD with resolution set at 1680 by 1050 which I believe is the correct resolution. Any recommendations to return everything back to its normal size?

Mar 19, 2008I was searching around Google for a while and wasn't able to find any answers. I'm using Home Premium x64 SP1, and the annoyance is AOL Instant Messenger. AIM has small buttons for the top right (minimize, maximize, and close) and for some reason Vista can't detect them as being those buttons. So since Vista's got a thick resize area, I can only mouse over 1/4 of the close button before it changes to the resize cursor. I was hoping some of you have found a workaround or solution to this, and I'm not interested in using another IM program. I've included a small screen shot in case you don't have AIM installed and can see for yourself how small the buttons are.

I have done system restore and changed the resolution of the screen. once when I did sytem restore it came back to normal but them after is went to sleep it came back small and different type font. now I cannot get it back at all. It looks like the resolution decreased and it even has these small horizontal lines flashing you can notice when you look real close to it. It resembles ?static?. To fix it, I can go to the nVidia control panel and switch the monitor configuration and then hit ?No? when it asks me if I want to keep the setting But then it will come back again later at random it seems.

Mar 23, 2008I had this issue once before on a different PC and it was XP not Vista, and got tech support but forgot how to fix it. My spell check in e-mail works fine except misses the letter I standing alone. Tech support took me somewhere (in WORD I think) and we found this box that had the small letter i in it and was not supposed to have anything in it. Spelling rules or something. We removed it and it then worked fine.

Jun 12, 2008I need to install SR2 for Access 97 on Vista - Home Basic. While Access 97installs fine, there's a known problem installing SR2 on Vista. Theworkaround that I've come across involves temporarily replacing four Vistafonts (comic.ttf, comicbd.ttf, tahoma.ttf, and tahomabd.ttf) with thoseversions which come with SR2. This reportedly allows SR2 to be installed,after which the four Vista fonts are copied back to the Windows/Fontsfolder.
This procedure begins with copying those four Vista fonts to a temporaryfolder. I am unable to do this, however. If I use cntrl-c to copy andcntrl-v to paste, nothing is pasted into the temporary folder. If I right-click on the font, the Copy command is not available. If I use Edit/Copy and Edit/Paste, nothing is pasted into the temporary folder. Vista will not allow full privileges for these fonts, even though I'm signed on as Administrator.

Nov 27, 2008I cannot remove a file called tahoma. I guess this is the font that Vista uses? I recently installed Left 4 Dead and later uninstalled it. There was one folder named fonts that didn't got deleted. It contained fonts like arial, verdana and tahoma. I managed to delete all of them in safe mode except tahoma.
I know that you shouldn't delete fonts that the system is using but there is something wierd because it's not in my "fonts folder" from the controlpanel. And the fonts that I deleted succefully (verdana and arial etc.) is still in that folder, tahoma is also there so that's why I'm guessing that I could delete that the tahoma font in my left 4 dead folder without it causing my system any problems.

Feb 1, 2009The huge number of fonts supplied with my version of Vista (don't know if they're all the same) makes for a very long list in the font box of most of my programs. In there are a WHOLE bunch of international fonts for languages I'll never need. But the system doesn't want to let me move them out of there into some other storage folder and/or delete them - it says I need permission. I looked at the security settings for those files and they are currently owned by "trusted installer". Administrators can't move or delete these files. As administrator, I can grant myself the permissions to let me move them. there is a warning message about possibly making harmful changes to the system. Is there any danger in doing this? Otherwise, any way to mask these fonts without uninstalling them?

Apr 20, 2009Does anyone know when/why MS gave us a bunch of fonts such as "Batang & BatangChe & Gungsuh & GungsuhChe" and "Microsoft YaHei?" There are many more of these strange looking font names in my fonts folder and each font takes up > 15,000,000 bytes. I tried to delete 1 or 2 of them but that's a no can do. Was there a specific "hotfix" we applied and what is/are the reason(s) for these fonts?
