Recently my computer has started prompting me to enter security words, you know the ones that are usually at the end of an application that are twisted. It occurs for no reason at all. (In fact, it just happed while I was typing this message! - arrrrgggghhh! ) Does anyone know why this is happening and how to make it stop?
Does word pad in open office have a page break or eqivalent. I haven't a clue when to stop typing I check print preview all the time which is a drag. Is this the norm.
This was a setup and forgot how to fix thing. Is this a checkbox or a registry tweak? Every time the Allow/Deny screen comes up the screen blanks and = refreshes.
I have an HP laptop with Windows Vista, and I have no real complaints about it except this % ing 'double tap' thing being double click. I can't stand it. I've accidentally clicked on countless things over the past two days (I just got this laptop). Yet I can find no way to edit it. I'm about ready to chuck this thing out a window because it's so frustrating. I downloaded Synaptics, but it doesn't seem to help because I can't find the tapping options. Maybe I downloaded the wrong version of it. If Sypantics works, can some give me instructions to getting rid of double tap?
I try to make a back of my files I get an error. I am an admin and have allowed administrators to make backups. I have done everything i can think of and nothing will change this stupid error.
I start getting a Windows Security pop up asking me to verify my user name and password...GRRR....how do I make it stop???? I have entered the information...clicked on REMEMBER MY CREDENTIALS...and it promptly forgets!....I even went into my accounts and re entered the info and said REMEMBER....which IT promptly forgot....how do I make it stop?????...the ONLY thing I use on my comp is windows defender...all the other crap just gives me a giant headache...my windows updates automatically, which it just did PRIOR to my issues...sorry I sound grumpy, but I am...I don't mind the issues, I just hate that the answers are so hard to find
Every time I turn on my computer it tells me that the Windows Security Centre is at risk. I have Nortons IS installed as my Anti Virus program, and I know this overrides the WSC, but how do I stop the Windows icon from showing my computer is at risk when I start up. I read that the Windows SC is only a warning, it does not save you from viruses, is that correct?
In Vista Home Premium. I go to send an email (Win mail) and up pops a box asking for the password for the email account I am using. If I click cancel and then go to the outbox, open the email and resend, it goes through no problem. It will almost certainly do this if I have not used the computer for an hour or so (although all power saving are 'always on'). It always happens within ten mins of booting the computer in the morning. and is now happening more frequently at other times. I have scanned the computer for virus and malware etc - all clean, it's just annoying!
When I edit Word Documents I get something that looks weird with all sorts of strange characters in the document or letter. How do I edit a previously created Word file and get it to look like a normal document like they did with Word 2003?
I use Vista and want to know how to open a file that was originally in Word 97? 2003 to open in Vista Word 2007 and how to convert that file to the Word 2007 format. When I searched Microsoft on this issue, it said to click on Start and look for the word convert. When I did that I could not find the work convert.
My computer is running the concistency check. It's at stage 3 and when it's almost complete it's starts to "replace invalid security Id with default security id for file ******" it's been doing this for a while now and I was wondering what I can do to speed it up. It's currently at 170000, and if I try to restart the computer the login screen will not load if I skip the disk check.
I got Vista 32 bit installed on my laptop. I work from Internet And need a good firewall and security suite which can protect my computer from trojen and malewars and hackers. Currently i am using kaspersky as my internet security and in past i have used Norton Security suite, In Both I have noticed getting too much of hacking attempts 3/hr.
I have purchased a netgear wireless adapter to connect to my work supplier router. the router is set up with WPA-PSK and TKIP security, and is set not to broadcast. I have set up a network account with the correct details. My system does connect to the network, however, in the network screen the network is shown as "incorrect security information, WEP security required"
i need to do the R thang !! Reformat and reinstall, i would like to know where Vista stores documents and program data... XP had them in documents and the user folders.
I got Windows Home Basic... and it doesnt come with anything like MS Word... Can I download this seperately, or download a very similar program? I really need this for school too!
When I click on a web link in an application, it opens the url in MS Word, not Firefox (default bowser).
For example:
In CCleaner if I click the 'check for updates' link in the bottom of the window, Word will open up, a download box will appear and then it displays the website as a document.
This happens for all apps, however it doesn't happen if I click on a .html/.url document from explorer, that will launch Firefox just fine.
Until yesterday, I would create a backup to my word documents by inserting a CD and following the prompts erasing old files and burning updated files. Today I inserted the CD, received the prompt to erase; erased; reinserted the CD and nothing happened. Can't get a prompt of any kind. I'm using Vista on a Gateway laptop.
Whenever I double-click a Word doc from within Explorer, Word opens and says it could not load the document, as if it could not find it.
1. I can always open the document from within Word.
2. And here is something I just found out: I just closed Word and attempted to open the document again from within Explorer, and the document opened without a problem.
Running Word 2007 SP2 on Vista HP SP1. I (just) checked the Event Viewer to see if it recorded the problem, and could find nothing...amazing, since it seems almost every mouse movement and keyclick is logged.
My vista laptop won't spell check in Word. I have tried a number of things to try and solve this problem but none seem to work. I have gone to WORD OPTIONS; PROOFING and checked all the appropriate boxes and it still won't check my spellings. It works for the grammar but doesn't even pick up made up words that I try to test it with! I have checked my dictionary and ran the Microsoft Office Diagnostics. I have watched the tutorials and read one other post with the same problem but there was no solution for it.
I have Vista Ultimate with Word 2007. I recently found myself unemployed so I created a resume on Word. I've joined several job finder sites online and the majority of them have an option that allows for downloading a resume. Some of these sites have responded to me with notice that I have a virus in my Word document. I have no idea how I could have gotten a virus in a simple resume but it has me disturbed. How many of these job finder sites have scrapped my resume due to this virus (I ask myself)? How do I go about removing the virus? I have Windows Live OneCare and have it set to do a virus scan once a week but it hasn't found anything. Do I uninstall Word 2007 then reinstall it?
When opening a folder in Vista my Word document appears as a notepad file and opens in notepad. However, when i go to my XP it appears as a word doc and opens correctly. Is this a vista problem? I have Office 2003 on both computers.
Word 2007 (on vista 32 bit) crashed this morning. It won't open again without crashing. It opens the window, I can see that it is asking me to open the recued document, on the left side, but then it crashes... looks for a problem... nothing... then it says "An Unknown error has occured" - but the litle window has "Endnote x1" in the header. - I have Endnote X1, obviously, and they don't work wonderfully together, but never this kind of problem. I've installed all the recent service packs, in the last few days. Word updates itself I'm pretty sure. Explorer crashes all the time, I think that it adobe related though *sigh*.
I've just done a factory restore of Vista H P and re-installed my apps, including MS Office 2007. But when I right click the desktop and choose 'new' I don't see a Word document as one of the options. Excel. Access, Publisher etc are there but not the one I need most often - and which i had before the restore. Anyone have any ideas on getting it back?
I am unable to paste information from my e-mail or the web to a word document. I receive a message stating that the amount selected is too large, but when I select only one word to copy, the message remains the same.
I have a PC which has XP installed and a new desktop with Visa Home Premium installed. I have put some of my Word files on to the laptop from the PC but it cant read them. Is there a way to get my laptop to read my PC files once I have transferred them or do I have to get XP installed on to my laptop?
When I receive a Word document as an attachment in an email Windows Mail will not let me open it. The file is in the email and has the proper icon and file extension. When I try to open it it asks if I want to Save or Open the document; I choose Open. The I get an error message: "This file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action. Create an association in the Set Associations control panel." I can save the attachment to my desktop and then open it no problem but I don't think that I should have to do that. I should be able to double click on any attachment and it should open with the proper program, right?
