I have Vista home premium on my new computer, but it is not allowing me to do any editing or publishing on my website. Everything was fine when I was on MS XP but now I have to borrow someone elses computer with MS XP or 2000 to access and edit my website.

When I publish my movie (to a DVD or my computer), the red tones (specifically skin tones) tend to be over saturated. The people in the pictures look like they're sunburned. I originally created the movie on my old computer using version 2.1 (XP) and never had this problem. When I got my new computer over the weekend and opened up the movie in version 6.0 (Vista) the pictures also looked fine. However, when I publish it only the red tones look over saturated.

It starts going through the process but on the Publishing progress window, it stops at 98% and just stais there and it never finishes the publishing. Has anyone ever had this problem? Why does it do it? and how can i fix it?
View 5 Replies View RelatedIs there a way to allow a trusted program through the user account control without asking for permission every time? I log into my laptop as an administrator and there is one program that needs consent through the user account control in order to run.
The program is Cisco Clean Access Agent. The geek squad at my school installed it so I can log onto the school's wireless network with my laptop.
This program is initiated through the Start Menu | Startup folder. I can't see why this shouldn't be possible because there are about 10 other programs starting when I log on (including some from the startup menu), and the Cisco app is the only one asking for permission.
I try to install to my computer stalls at the start of the actual installation (I can select where I want the files to go and agree to t & c's etc). I bought the computer new about 3 months ago, I will have to find out the specs, I'm not too computer savvy. It's really p*ssing me off, as I can't install anything... On top of that, the CD/Bluray drive keeps asking me what it wants me to burn to any disc I put in it...

I downloaded these yesterday and I have had problems with my wired modem and Netgear router today. I keep losing the internet connection. I've spoken to my ISP and Netgear. Netgear says that the modem keeps dropping the connection but my ISP says there are no problems at their end. It just seems odd that everything was working fine before I allowed these updates.
Are there certain files crucial to Vista, that you are not allowed to delete/move/rename?
If so, would explorer.exe be one of them?
I had an incident where I tried to create a desktop shortcut forWindows Explorer. I don't know why but the shortcut had ".exe" at theend. When I tried to rename it, it warned me about something, as if Iwas renaming the actual program and not just a shortcut.
I usually make a shortcut for a program by dragging the name from the Start menu to the desktop. Then it will have the name of the program with no .exe.
I have recently tried to download certain things for my computer, except i have had pop ups that says my security settings are not allowing me to download this. Somethings i can download for example things that are already on my computer (MSN) but need updated it is things that are downloaded off websites for example skype. i have been on internet options > security settings and changed my settings so that files can be downloaded, and i have also made the sites trusted sites
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a desktop and a laptop running vista32hp here on the desk. They both are using COMCAST mcafee. the laptop is new. The laptop goes to all my websites and logs in automatically. I LIKE DAT!
The desktop no longer does that. Of late it goes to all my websites puts in the name and password and even the "remember me" is checked, but it does not do the actual log in. I HATE DAT!
Same no matter IE or FF. Cookies are turned on, I just spend an hour going through every Mcafee setting to compare... And I have fiddled with VISTA everywhere I can think of but just cant figure it out...
I'm on a Toshiba Satellite that's worked fairly well except for a few self-repaired hiccups. However, about a week ago my power management plans suddenly stopped working. I can switch from different plans that change how quickly my display turns off, but my screen has been stuck at the lowest brightness possible for a while now. It has nothing to do with the plans themselves, I've restored all to their default settings and still no change in brightness when I switch between all of them. The little slider to adjust
brightness simply does not appear anymore. I can't find what exactly it is that's malfunctioning to reinstall, as no power management driver appeared on my disk from Toshiba. Can anyone provide an explanation or perhaps a link to repair this?
I have a problem, a corrupt entry in the registry. I think I may have to edit the registry (for the first time). I know how to do it, and which entries to delete. Before I do so, I can back up the registry, or I can create a restore point, or I could do both!
View 5 Replies View RelatedI currently have a whole heap of avi files and I want edit the file descriptions in order to include details like, year, comments, director etc. However when I try to access them the regular way Right click>Properties>Details the only details listed are relating to the actual video data properties. All of the details pane is locked and it wont allow me to change them. For my mp3 files i have no problem putting in the settings I want.
View 8 Replies View RelatedVista Basic spa. I have a dvd/cd rw. Although software did come with the drive I don't have it installed at this time because I'm not sure if it has the features I require. The more I look to the internet to try to find out what software I need the worse my headache gets. I'll list the things I want to accomplish and hopefully someone here can point me in the right direction. I'm not sure of some of the terminology either but I'll attempt to explain the best I can
1) I want to be able play regular DVDs on my commuter.
2) While playing the dvd I want to be able to pause and clip the still and save it as a jpg.
3) I want to be able to rip a portion of the DVD and save it to a video file (mpeg, avi...)
4) Then I'd like to be able to rip 5 to 20 seconds of AUDIO of the ripped video (or from the original DVD if that's possible) and save it as a wav file.
5) Create DVDs playable on my DVD player from several video file formats like one can do with Windows DVD Maker but isn't included in Vista Basic. I would prefer a suite with all these feature if possible.
If you are frustrated with any version of Windows you are running or are tired of rebooting your machine frequently or are fed up with the antivirus and security crap or are tired for paying for all of this software or find that Windows Genuine Disadvantage is a nuisance you might want to consider a dual boot machine for a while.
You can dual boot any of the Linux distros fairly easy. Ubuntu is the easiest to use. That is what I did. Soon after I found that going to Windows was very infrequent. The only time I now use Windows is if I do some application development or maybe for some way out photo editing to do some way out task. Even before I know that Linux was a better OS but after using it I am finding out how much better........

I'm trying to install an image editing software called PhotoPlus X2, which claims to be Vista compatible. However, when I run the setup.exe I get a Windows installer error 1619. I'm running Vista Business SP1 x86 and I'm logging in to the desktop with an admin account. Updating the Windows installer to version 4.5 didn't.

As far as I can tell both offer about the same burning / editing options and seems kind of silly to install both if I really only need one or the other.

New Dell computer running that crappy Windows Vista system. After editing any JPEG in Windows Photo Gallery, I get a pop up that "changes to this picture cannot be saved because Photo Gallery has experienced a problem".
These are regular JPEG's that are on my desktop. They are not locked or funny file names, or any of the other obvious problems. Anybody out there able to help a cpu novice on this one? My wife is ready to throw this brand new computer away because of the problems running anything on Vista.BTW,pretty ironic, it is trying to block me out of this site, that it recommends .I go to with problems.
now I realize that MS is trying to protect me from all the web baddies. But why can't I log on to their website (hotmail) without turning security off? I've set that site as OK for cookies. But if security is on then it won't accept my password. I'm not typing it wrong, I've had that email for about 6-7 years now. As soon as I turn off security, close IE, open IE I can log on. Then I have to turn on security and close IE, then open for security to be back on. Is there a way I can just log on without turning off security. Or can I convice MS to fix this obvious blunder? I am told I need a license and to get it, I am sent to a website that does nothing. No information on the website is offered to obtain the license other than to go to certain other websites, and pay for the license.
Up until today, I could play the mp3's with no problems. Perhaps due in part in using "Rhapsody" for the first time. My problem is, how and where exactly do I obtain this "license" which should be free, or at least at bare minimal cost for ALL of my mp3's? Not just a select few. It's my damn property, microsoft ain't gonna tell me how and when i can use it.
I own a website that has been transfered to a different hosting account however I still cannot access the site - everyone else can, including my partner (we live together and share the internet) but I still get the page that we put up saying that the site will be back soon, just changing servers etc. I'm using firefox - I've cleared my history, the cache and even deleted my bookmarks. I've cleared the cache using the command prompt and I've cleared out all temporary internet files. I've run out of ideas as to why I still cant get onto the site (which can be found here).

View 8 Replies View RelatedI've a web site url that apparently is unreachable from my PC (dhcp reserved address), MS Windows Vista Business and IE8, ONLY this website. I checked firewall and antivirus settings, i tried to bypass firewall, but problem persist. I changed from DHCP to Fixed IP, i changed DNS, but none. I also tried from Firefox / Chrome, same problem. Apparently the site is resolved from DNS but then not reachable. The tracert command shows that the request expire immediately, so it seems that the
request remains local and is not forwarded outside from my PC....
I've another PC, Windows XP Pro SP3, IE7 (also this dhcp reserved), it's joined in the same domain, so same dchp - dns - gateway and firewall rules...., same problem. This PC is a dual boot with Debian 5, so i tried to boot in linux and surprise...with Firefox that website opens immediately...and the tracert command shows that it is reachable among 4 nodes.... In linux the dhcp and the ip released is the same as XP....so it points to same default gateway and dns.....
I am not sure if this is a Microsoft issue or laptop issue but i play an online game & there is a program that i can use which enables me to play it automatically, however in order to use this program it needs to connect to its webpage. This has been working fine til saturday & then it stopped working. The website that i am not able to connect to (either on FireFox or IE7)
I have uninstalled AVG & disabled Windows Firewall & still not able to connect to the website or use the program. I re-installed AVG but had to install the 8.0 version & as i am sure you know already when you google something AVG will use its Resident Shield & Linkscanner & let you know if the links are safe; well, with the link for this website it says that it cannot scan it & that may be due to the webpage being removed or there is an issue with it. I know the webpage is there & that there is nothing wrong as i can use my girlfriends laptop on the same connection & it works perfectly fine.
i just got my PC up and running (vista 64) and every old web page i try to open the page invalid security certificate appears. then gives me 3 options then i open the not recommended one, and the webpage appears in different font. how do i get back to normal. norton 360 security used
