Install Assassin's Creed, Cmd Just Popped Up With No Text And Closed Again
Jul 15, 2008
When I try to install Assassin's Creed, I get this error: I've contacted Ubisoft support, but they don't seem to be able to help. Is there a workaround for this error ? I've already tried installing it on a computer with Windows XP Pro x86, a cmd just popped up with no text and closed again.
Use to have a very good text editor on my work PC (win 2000), firstly TextPad and then PSPad.My work PC has now been upgraded to Vista Enterprise and I can't reinstall them, since I don't have admin rights and don't expect to be easily given them.Anyone know of a text editor like either of these which can simply be run as an exe?
It appears that I do have a very serious connection problem, which has popped up suddenly out of nowhere with no sensible explanation.
When I go to "Connect to a Network" I see that my connection has only one of five bars, with the connection status listed as "Low." When I go to "Control Panel>Network and Sharing," and "View Status" I see that the "IPv6 Connectivity" is listed as "Limited."
I removed the "Microsoft 6to4 adapter" previously because it had a yellow exclamation point listed next to it in my Device Manager after having read on the Internet that it could be deleted without any side effects if a person can't get it working, which was what I did. I now see that the "IPv6 Connectivity" is listed as "Limited" when I go to Control PanelNetwork and Sharing Center, and am wondering if this is due to my having removed the 6to4 adapter even though the system said it wasn't functioning properly. But I didn't have this slow connection problem until just the last couple of days, and I deleted the 6to4 adapter over a week ago.
I am trying to play assasins creed in my new laptop, but every timne tha ti start he game my scream turns black and that all, nothing else. Or in some other ocations ist show a message that the program is having troubles and that is oging to close itself.
Its never been there before, and now it its. To make matters more interesting, it has an exclamation mark on it. When I click it, it says check for new definitions. I do, it comes up with nothing, but the exclamation point stays..
For some weird reason the fonts in vista 64 are blurry when in the middle of my screen. if i scroll up or down then the blurry text goes clear and the text above it goes blurry. i have tried.. turning on and off clertype.. i just bought a brand new lcd.
I recently got updates and now my IE 8 keeps locking me out of websites that I regulary visit, say DEP has closed the program. I am a novice at the computer It also shuts down when I use other Internet programs like firefox.
I don't know whether this is a Vista problem or not, but for the last few days when I access the internet a 'Amber Coast Casino' window opens. In fact it has just opened now when I have closed my internet window. How can I stop this nuisance?
I have an Acer Travelmate 6292 running Vista. When I connect a monitor and close the lid of the notebook, the CPU jupms to 100% utilisation and the notebook becomes extremley slow. I have changed the power settings for Lid Closed to "Do nothing" If I leave the lid a little open, it operates ok. Only when the lid is virtualy closed does the problem occur.
I have recently developed a piece of acupuncture training software using Macromedia Director MX 2004. I tested it on all platforms, and didn't get problems at the time. However, I obviously didn't test it on Vista long enough, as several Vista users have reported it hanging at random times. I have since tested it again, and indeed got the same problems (XP users don't seem to have these issues). I have experimented with changing the compatibility mode to XP SP2, but this doesn't cure the problem (although it might reduce the crashes slightly). I have checked the Problem report

I've got a strange situation. Anytime my cd drive is closed my computer lags to the point of no return. It won't load vista until I open the cd drive and while vista is running my computer will just about stop responding. All that moves is the mouse and I can click on things but they won't open until I reopen the cd drive.
When I open Windows Explorer, it goes to Windows/System32 rather than to Documents where it was when closed. What is the mechanism here? How do I get Windows Explorer to re-open where it closed?
I just recently built this computer (see specs below) and I'm running into a problem... SpeedFan says my cores are running at 44,48,51,51 (Celsius respectively) and my GPU at 50C. I dont think this is good, since there are the red up arrows and flames next to them. I can post up pics of my rig, but i thought i had it cooled pretty well. I even have a CPU heatsink and fan thats HUGE (liek 100cm tall) that is supposed to cool it and another fan infront of my GPU. How do i fix this! EDIT: When my system uses over 40% of any core, it hits about 50C! Just thought i would mention it.
my problem is the immense ram use in vista. but this is a new problem to me! i had after booting vista (all programms and services were load!) 1.2gb in use at the most! i had problems with my pc, so i reinstalled vista (vista didn't empty the ram anymore after a programm had been closed). now it starts at 1gb and climbs up to 1.3 to 1.5gb in a few minutes! in the meantime i do nothing, vista does that on its own. and i haven't installed yet the startup programms i have had installed before. using vista 64-bit
im having a problem with my hibernation mode when my laptop is shut. when i close the laptop, windows restarts and leaves an error code when started up again. the computer runs fine besides this, and is days old i might add. i have recently updated through microsoft, 'a shut down update' standard procedure. before this update hibernation worked fine. i dont know if this could have anything to do with it, but regardless i am new with vista.

I've finally got Crysis Warhead. it came out the 16th. and was available yesterday. but my gamestop was closed cuz AC broke. BS I know. so, I've finally got Crysis Warhead. the cover looks pretty cool. and the game looks pretty amazing actually. I can't wait to see how well it runs on my system. I'm installing right now. and I'll post back shortly after I play for a while today
I think this is what killed my last drive. I caught Vista doing this again which was a frustrating problem in the past.
Laptop. Vista set to hibernate when lid is closed.
So I get up this morning, lid is closed, drive light is just on FIRE, Vista is pounding the piss out of the drive.
It will NOT wake up, it will NOT do anything, it's just sitting there pounding the pee out of the drive while it's supposed to be suspended. I watched it for about 15minutes and nothing changed. I suspect it does this often and this merceless beating of the drive is what ruined my last one.
This is not the first time either, I'd gotten in the habit of shutting the machine completely OFF because of this problem, I've actually seen it pegging the processor too (or at least the fans are running full tilt and pumping a lot of heat...with the lid closed and the machine supposed to be in sleep or hibernate.
Vista SP2. I close the cover, the machine is sleeping, everything looks good. Move the mouse, it wakes up and starts running with the cover still closed. Any known fixes? I do want the mouse to be able to wake the machine, but it should not do it with the cover closed.
I have a procedure as part of a database system that calls MapiSendDocuments from mapi32.dll thiis onlly appears to work when windows mail is closed. If it is open the email generation fails. Is there an option in windows mail that I have missed or is there a way to allow this remote function call to work with windows mail open?
When I open windows explorer menu it opens at a smaller window size then I'd like it to, so I resize it and close it but the next time that I open it from right clicking on the start menu and choosing explore, it opens at the same position and small size and isn't holding the window resizing that I did... What I've tried so far to make the window size "stick":
1. Use the Windows Explorer "ALT" key to bring up the File menu at the top of the explorer and choose "close" after resizing my Explorer window. 2. Made sure that the "Remember each folder's view settings" is checked. I've also unchecked it, chose apply, then recheck marked it and chose apply just in case it needed refreshing. 3. Used the "X" button at the top right of the window to close it after resizing it to the size that I want. And finally 4. Chose the upper left corner menu (the one with Restore, Minimize, Move, Close in it) and chosen Close...............
This involves my HP Pavilion dv9000t notebook with Vista Ultimate OS, & HP OfficeJet H470wbt (Bluetooth) printer. I am able to install the printer successfully. However, whenever I attempt to print anything I get a window stating: "Spooler Subsystem App stopped working and was closed". This happens both in Bluetooth & USB connection.
I have wasted my time dealing w/ HP support for almost a year. HP says the problem is with my OS. Per their instructions I even performed a complete recovery on my notebook & reinstalled everything back 6 times & my LapTop has been back to HP for warranty work twice. Nothing HP did or recommended has worked. The 1st new printer was returned & I was given a new one in exchange. Still the problem persists. Removed drivers, re-installed drivers, verified print spooler settings & restart service, restarted the print spooler, temporary workarounds, etc. & nothing has worked.
For the past few weeks I've been getting episodes of Windows Mail closing and reporting that "Data Execution Prevention has closed Windows Mail". It seems to occur when I'm in the middle of preparing a message - it has never occurred when I clicked "Send/Receive". The problem first occurred a few hours after receiving a message with three PDFs totaling 5 MB in size. When this first occurred I had the current version of NOD32 (3.0.642) running but I turned off email scanning and the problem still happens every few days. On two of the crashes Windows Mail reported it couldn't find a few messages, and some messages were gone from my Inbox, but after deleting one or two such messages I was able to get back all the missing email. Is the best bet that NOD32 corrupted my email files? Are there other possibilities I should be thinking of or testing for? Is there some way to keep things like this from happening without ditching all my old mail?
In an attempt to solve a problem with an MS Office document, I went into Task Manager/Processes and closed Explorer.exe. It closed Office, but more importantly, it also closed my whole Desktop Shell!!! Now everything's gone, including my Start Menu and Task Bar. How can I get it all back?
This message keeps on popping up after trying to install adobe 8 and getting a blue screen in the middle of the installation. Can't get rid of the message window even after uninstalling adobe!
