How To Auto Connect To Wireless Networks Which Requires Identification?

May 9, 2008

i've set my laptop to auto-connect to a wireless network, but it'll ask for identification because it's a secure network. is it possible to automate the filling process too, so that i don't have to type everytime? i have to enter my username, password and another field which i can't rem. >.< there is a check box on the prompt pop up screen which says that the above information can be saved when checked, but it's greyed out, so i couldn't check it.

Longer Connect To Wired Network/wireless Networks

Dec 12, 2007

I went on a trip ad at the hotel my laptop would not detect their wireless network. The hotel had me connect some sort of adapter to my usb port and also had their tech support change some networking settings on my computer. Now when I go to work and plug-in the usb cable to my computer nothing happens (used to connect to the internet).

Wouldn't Auto Connect To My Wireless Router

Jan 10, 2009

HP TX1000 Laptop wouldn't auto connect to my wireless router (1 metre away). I remembered that on the bootup Wireless Assistant turned on Bluetooth but not Wireless. In the Network and Sharing Centre, "Manage Wireless Networks" isn't showing so I can't turn it on. In what may be a related issue, I can't get into Services - Vista says that either I don't have permission (I'm logged on as Administrator) or it can't find Windows/System32/Services.msc (which I can't see). I've done the obligiatory re-start and I've connected via cat5 but I need to resolve this

Connect To 2 Networks At The Same Time?

I'm wondering if it's possible to set up my computer (it has two ethernet connectors) to connect to 2 different networks at the same time? (this would be both "wired" networks, but if wireless is easier I have wireless USB adapters I can utilize as both of my network routers are wired & wireless).

Can't Connect Wirless Networks

Mar 28, 2008

I am having a problem with the finding wireless networks, The problem started that sometimes I was not able to view wireless networks even though the wireless is turned on and sometimes I am not able to see certain networks, however I was able to view the networks sometimes on restarting or at a later time. The problem is that now while I am connected to a wireless network, sometimes it just disconnects and "Connect to a network " views that it can't find any wireless networks (even though my colleague next to me can see them and is still connected) and if i try to troubleshoot it tells me that my wireless device is switched off even though it is still on and if i actually switch it off it is not recognized to be switched off (the color indicator for off and on doesn't change ) The only way that I can connect again is to restart (and sometimes I have to do it more than once before I can see wireless networks again) I am not sure if it is a Vista problem or a hardware problem ...I have a HP Pavilion dv6000

WLAN Security Choice To Connect To 2 Other Networks

Sep 5, 2009

I just set up a home wireless network (first time) and in the process some security questions came up. I am using a 2wire gateway provided by AT&T. It has a firewall internal, and all 3 of my machines have windows firewall functional. In order to make the wireless connection, I was required to enter the Passkey number from the gateway, but I was given the choice to connect to 2 other networks which I assume belonged to neighbors. The signals were weak, but I tried one and was able to piggyback to the 'net with no problem. My question is, how do I know that the neighbors are not able to connect to my network? Should I care? Would they be able to hack into my machines, and if so what should I do about it?

Wireless Router And Vista: No Networks Available

Mar 23, 2008

Just got a new Dell Desktop with wireless card pre-installed. I have an existing wireless router that all three of my other machines (XP) can see and connect to just fine. No matter what I seem to do, the Vista machine tells me there are no networks available. I've tried re-booting, re-freshing the Network list, waiting and re-freshing, turning off various automatic features, etc. Nothing seems to work and I need to connect to the Internet to update the PC with the numerous security patches Vista needs when first
starting up.

Belkin Wireless Adapter: Windows Does Not Pick Up Any Networks At All

Sep 17, 2007

It works fine except when I have tried to install my Belkin USB wireless adapter. I went to Belkins site and it told me to download the Ralink drivers, which I did. Nothing. Vista tells me that the device is working properly, but the light on the adapter is not lighting up, and Windows does not pick up any networks at all. I tried the PC with a second, identical adapter to see if it was the device causing the problem, but I have gotten the same response, which lead me to think it was an issue with Vista.

Lost Wireless Network, "Windows Cannot Find Any Networks"

Mar 23, 2008

I'm running Vista Ultimate x64 on an HP Pavilion dv6676us laptop with built-in Wi-Fi. My network is running on a 2Wire 2700HG-D router/modem. Last night, when I rebooted after a Windows update, I had no network. If I open the Network window, it says, "This computer is not connected to a network. Click to connect...". When I click there, then choose "Connect to a network", a window pops up saying, "Windows cannot find any networks". If I click on "View network computers and devices", it just takes me back to the Network window.

In Control Panel, Network and Sharing Center says, "The page failed to load". Windows Help tells me to make sure my network adapter is enabled in Control Panel --> Network Connections. In Network Connections, I see nothing that refers to a network adapter; I assume this is what displays as Wireless Network Connection, which says "Not connected". The context menu gives me choices of Disable and Connect/Disconnect. Selecting Connect/Disconnect doesn't help. Disabling, Enabling, and Connecting tells me again, "Windows cannot find any networks"..........

All firmware/drivers is up to date on the laptop and the routers and I still can't get them to connect but I have no problem with the XP. Side note, I have had both laptops connected and surfing the Web and having access to network shares and what not but they have both since been dropped. I'd be happy to just focus on one of them.

Hard wiring via ethernet cable it works but very slow in comparison to XP PC's on same router. Fn + F8 indicates both Wi-fi and Bluetooth are on.Device Manager indicates a problem with Other Devices/Network Controller saying there's no drivers. Network troubleshooting tells me there's no wireless adapter.Updating drivers from Device Manager does nothing. Downloaded Vista drivers from Toshiba gives the same result. Very tempted to put it back in the box and send it back for refund, not another Toshiba, but thought I'd give the groups a try first.

Can Not Connect Wireless Access

After spending 4 hours with 3 HP assistants on the phone and chatting online with them, and talking to my personal computer technician, I found that the wireless connection does not obtain the IP address and DNS server address "automatically". I can't do this manually for every time I arrive in a hotel, or anywhere I go. I bought this computer especially to save time when I travel so I need to make this thing "Obtain an IP and DNS adress automatically" for any wireless connection that it finds.

Wireless Router Does B/g Connect

Apr 9, 2008

here is the setup, I have a Laptop with a wired 10/100/100 jack and a wireless card built in A/B/G. I have a wireless router at home that does B/G, I connect to it at G. The wireless router also has 5 10/100 ports on the back. From the wireless router I go into a cable modem, pretty standard setup so far, here is where gets fun. I have the option of "bundling" my download speeds and upload speeds with the installation of a 2nd cable modem. What I am unsure opf is how exactle this setup would work. Going to attach a pic and see what you all have in the way of advice: Basically, the 2 connections from the cable modems are 15down and 2up each, my cable company will allow me to combine the connections (they will set it up on their end) so I have 30down 4up, what I dont know is how top do it on MY end. I am attaching a word doc with a drawing to explain better. I am running Vista64 Ultimate w/sp1

Wireless Network, Can't Connect Router

I using WPA2 with a 63 ASCII PSK and it just works well with my XP sp3 but simply when I log in to vista it can't connect to my router, Vista can find my WIFI singal and say that it has a Good-Excellent signal. I downloaded and installed the x64 version of driver for my WIFI Adapter from ASUS website and it seems it should work. I tried everything. checking password...make it shorter reading articles about netWORKING.
