Screen Pitcure Below Shown Up Twice
Jul 3, 2008The screen in the picture below has shown up twice. Once upon awakening from sleep and once while reading a document in Firefox. The only cure is to press and hold the on/off button until the system powers down. Windows says that I have the most current video driver. What else can I check before sending it back to HP? Picture taken with my iPhone in a dimly lit room.

Sep 22, 2009(Running Vista Ultimate 64-bit, SP-2, IE-7, WM-6, classic mode, dial-up, on an HP Pavilion desktop computer.) Computer runs fine. In the past I have transferred photos from my digital camera via a cable to a USB port, and that process has worked fine. A friend showed me how to remove the memory card (type: SD) from my camera, and how to insert it into one of the cluster of 4 different sized slots on my computer. When inserted a small green light comes on, but nothing else happens. Based on his experience with his computer, I was expecting, in Windows Explorer, for a lettered disk to appear, listing the photos on the memory card using the camera provided numbers - but, as mentioned, nothing happened. What is the next step after inserting the memory card and noting that the green light is on?

Apr 29, 2009A few months ago we were importing pictures from a memory card (in a usb card reader) using Import pictures in the autoplay box. On each separate occasion we imported, Vista only imported the most recent pictures - which is what I expected to happen. Today we've gone throught the same process and Vista has imported all the old pictures which were already on the pc and the new ones as well. Why might this be happening - is there a setting which may have been switched off as we don't want to keep deleting the duplicated pictures

I have tried going into the display settings and advanced settings then troubleshooting but my computer does not allow me to change it as the icon is grayed out.

If I use, File/export/mesages in OE does that leave my emails in OE and just copy them or does it "cut" them out of OE5 so that they will no longer be there? I want the files on both machines. Oct 14, 2009I want to backup my emails in Win Mail (Vista home premium) - all of them so theres hundreds of them in dozens of folders I have created. So I go file - export - messages, select a format, select an EMPTY folder on my 1TB external drive, then try to export. I either get an error message telling me that some files may be corrupt, or that the destination folder may be too small. Or if I select just a tiny folder to export, it says export successful, but it only exports ONE email - the top one in the list I think? I really dont think I have corrupted files here - any folder I select to export seems to have a problem... as my motherboard is flakey, and I want to do the backup ASAP before it 'flakes' again!

Nov 29, 2009I had 4GB physical memoryon the PC. With Windows vista 32 bit, available memory is shown as 3.3GB. I asked and was told that only under 64 bit windows, will the available memory be 4GB. When I upgraded to windows 7, I chosed 64 bit, but the available memory shown in the system is still 3.3 GB. Why is this and is there a way to make the full 4GB available? It's possible that my video card is using RAM instead of its own RAM. If I install a video card with its own RAM, will the full 4GB be available?

Aug 23, 2008I am fairly new to the forums, and VERY new to Vista x64. The machine is new, and I was trying out some apps and games, I was in Secondlife when I got an error messege saying I was out of memory and needed to free up memory. I shut down the app and restarted it. Runs but I watched Task manager and saw my free memory down to almost nothing after an hour or so. The cached seems very high.
I did alittle research and decided to set a second page file on my 1TB hard drive, (OS is on the other HHD's )( regulated by system for size ) I'm not really sure whats going on. Example of just task manager and this page openis attached. Again, any help would be great in getting the memory set up on here optimal.
DDR3 Memory Memory Maxing Out
Oct 17, 2009I have 6gigs of DDR3 memory at 1600hz. Running on Vista 64bit and every now and again my memory performance just maxes out. The problem can occur around the time when I am installing something but I dont think its always this way. I have read forums where it could be the hardrives performing self diagnostics. I have all the latest patches for vista.

Vista simply hangs while booting, the last driver loaded is crcdisck.sys. If I remove the WinTV card Vista works perfectly. With WinXP all was working fine. I tried to remove all the cards from the PC... the issue happens when I insert the WinTV or the PCTV card... Of course I also tried to change some settings in the BIOS without success.

Windows is reporting 8 GB of Installed Physical Memory but is reporting only 4 GB of Total Physical Memory. I first noticed this when, after installing a game, the game system specs said 3092 MB of RAM.
I have checked the BIOS and it recognizes 8 GB. Memory Remapping is Enabled. Under Memory Remapping is "PCI MMIO Allocation: 4GB to 3328 MB" (?). MSConfig Boot Options shows Max Memory is not checked and no value in the box below. I tried enabling it and using 8192 as the value, but it made no difference. DxDiag shows 8 GB installed RAM. how I can get windows to make available all 8 GB of RAM? everytime i try to access a folder on my external hard drive (Toshiba 2.0 USB), it freezes explorer and and error message comes up saying out of memory, but i can't read it all because most of the window is just black.
also, before all of this started my NVidia graphics had a message pop up saying the NVIDIA Display Panel Extension cannot be created.
Possible reasons include:
Version mismatch. Reinstalling display drivers may solve this problem.
i've tried to download drivers but the only place to find them are on lenovo support and they didnt help

Mar 23, 2008I am putting together a new build and since PC-6400 DDR2 is sooo cheap I thought I might consider 8GB on an X38 board. I already have 2x2GB dimms, and was guessing if I went to 8GB it might be nice to have 4 identical DIMMS, which are still available (ie, another 2x2gb of the pair I have now). Anyone have wisdom about this? My main uses NOW are MS Flight Simulator, Gigastudio, and both of those benefit from at least 3GB, beyond that I don't know. I don't forsee video editing.
