When I am sent an email with attachments (ex. pics or an email with a couple of forwarded emails attached), they stripped or not included in the email. Is there a setting or something I need to change?
View 7 RepliesWe are new to Windows Mail and this is baffling me. We are members of several Yahoo Groups and ALL the emails that come through from the groups are marked with an attachment icon. Yahoo does not allow attachments in their group emails, so why the icons and how do I get rid of them? Our regular emails that are not from one of the Yahoo groups only have the attachment icon when there is an actual attachment, so what's with the Yahoo emails? I checked the email settings to allow html and pictures and set the security setting for "Internet Zone" which is less restrictive, but the icons still show up.

View 9 Replies View RelatedIn late February of 2007 I purchased a new computer with Vista Premium x86 preinstalled. The Windows Anytime Upgrade DVD was included with the computer. In late February of 2007 I also purchased the retail Vista Ultimate Upgrade DVDs from OfficeMax and did a clean x86 install from boot using the retail DVD.
I would like to uninstall my Vista Ultimate and reinstall it with SP1 already integrated within the OS. I always like to install an OS with the service pack already included within the install as opposed to downloading and installing the service pack into an existing installed OS. Personally, I feel this is always the best way to go although many people think otherwise. Is there a way for me to do this using the Windows Anytime Upgrade DVD? It has never been used before. Are the different versions of Vista actually on the Anytime Upgrade DVD or does the DVD "phone home" for the correct OS once the license key is provided? I've never had a need to use the Anytime Upgrade DVD so I am ignorant as to how it works. If I am indeed able to install Vista Ultimate SP1 by using the Anytime Upgrade DVD could I do it upon the release of SP1 on 03/18/2008 or would I have to wait until mid-April when it is released for automatic updates?.........
The new Service Pack 1 version of Windows Vista allows end users to purchase the "upgrade edition" and install it on any PC - with no need to purchase the more expensive "full edition."
The same behavior was present when Vista was originally released, but the fact that the trick wasn't removed from SP1 suggests that Microsoft executives approved the back door as a way to make the price of Vista more appealing to sophisticated buyers.
Previous Windows version not needed for upgrade
Just after Vista was first released to consumers on Jan. 30, 2007, an article in the Windows Secrets Newsletter explained that the upgrade edition of the operating system could be installed on a "clean" hard drive. For whatever reason, Vista had been programmed to accept itself as a "qualifying product." This eliminated any need for users to purchase the full edition of Vista or to upgrade Vista only over an older instance of Windows.
I'm having a problem with my system. It randomly freezes, I have no idea why and most times its when I'm doing something differently. Its freezed during 2 different games, during a burning of a cd, and even while trying to get into the favorites menu on internet exlorer.. I tried looking in the event viewer for the system but not sure what I need to look for. I have no viruses according to Nod32. I have Vista Ultimate running on amd 3700, 1 gb ram, 75gb hard drive, geforce 8800 gts graphics card, ecs motherboard and a dvd burner. Here is a HiJackThis log................

Create an association in the set associations control panel". When I check the associations, it tells me the games are associated to their respective exe files. Am I missing something here? Security Suite from Norton, McAfee, or Trend Micro in the purchase price.I am seeking recommendations on which of the three to get.
I am open to advice ranging from one of them being superior, to they all are inferior, to which one sucks the least, or even the one easiest to remove without hosing the system before installing a different suite.
I also have available Kaspersky 7.0 (which I know will update when installed) with one more available computer on its license. It is running fine on two Vista Home Premium 32 bit systems.
Am trying to turn OFF Win firewall, yet it's nowhere to be found. (Yes, it is on and running) except for a shortcut link which also does not show up (C:ProgramDataMicrosofWindowsStartMenuPrograms). No folder (hidden included) exists for it anywhere and it has no icon in the control panel either.
Any link found with: "Open Windows Firewall", meets with stoic non-compliance. After some digging I came up with the following error message: " MMC could not create the snap-in. View 9 Replies View RelatedMy "size" option appears to have gone missing, and I'm not sure why. I searched with google, as well as these forums, though I could find no answer to my problem. (Though that doesn't mean one hasn't been posted; my searching skills may just be crappy.) Regardless, has anyone had this, or a similar issue, occur? Or does anyone know how to add your own "details" to choose from so I can get it back manually? I saw this: Folder Size for Windows Explorer. I probably need something along those lines, but for the size option instead... Also, if I'm somehow just staring at the list and missing it even after scanning through each item, (Picture included to rule out/verify idiocy on my part.)

I can open an attaachment then go back 2 minutes later and I get "command failed to execute".
Friend of mine sent me an attachment which is in Chinese language. He uses Yahoo.com, and I use cogeco.ca. We sent e-mails in Chinese many times without problem. Attachment in Chinese is the first time From him.
** the file is in DAT file type **
Here is my problems : -
1.) I attempted to open the attachment and I got the following error message : " This file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action.Create an association in the Set Associations control pane."
2.) So, I saved the attachment to Pictures folder, and opened it to Notepad. It worked, BUT content was all scrambled. Couldn't read. Now in WM, I can decode it, but in notepad there is no such option.
3.) Then I tried Microsoft Power Point. It couldn't find the darn attachment.
4.) Then I tried both the Microsoft Office Excel and Adobe Reader, non worked.
Note : I did include Notepad, MS Excel and Adobe as the programs it will open onto, in case someone wondered.
I am trying to send a word file that contains Resume and cover letter to the company for job. I am using Vista and Office 2007 and each time I try and attach the file it states that 'Some of the files could not be found, and could not be attached to the message. Would you like to send the message anyway?' Could somebody spread some light on this for me please. I am not using office for a commercial purpose at all

With my Windows Mail, attachments are missing from only certain senders. My co-worker, Sue, sends out email blast with attachments to multiple recipients including myself. I've verified that other recipients did received the email with attachments w/o a problem, however, when I open my email, the attachments are not there. This only happens with this particular sender only. I've also verified that other recipients do use Windows Mail.

I know how to insert background music on an e-mail, but ........I can not figure out how to make it as a background music when and ONLY when the attachment is opened. NOTE : I do not want to convert the music to .wav format. It takes too long and it does not work if the music is too long. What I have be doing is this : Open compose window > Format > Background > Sound > browse to music folder, pick my choice > Open, choose of times or continuously > OK My problem is : as soon as the e-mail is opened by the recipient, music starts. It does not wait for attachment to be opened. What steps have I missed ?

When I try to open it it asks if I want to Save or Open the document; I choose Open. The I get an error message: "This file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action. Create an association in the Set Associations control panel." I can save the attachment to my desktop and then open it no problem but I don't think that I should have to do that. I should be able to double click on any attachment and it should open with the proper program, right?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI am using Windows Vista Mail in the Vista Premium Home Version, 2007, Service Pack 2. Recently, I attached some reduced size photos (about 60kb each) to an email. When I sent the email, they remained attached but also, they opened up for viewing in the body of the email, making the email HUGE in size. I have searched for ways to turn this feature off, so that the attached photos do not open and show up in the body of the email, but without any luck. Therefore, currently I cannot turn this feature off. I only want photos to be attached, NOT OPEN UP to be viewed in the body of the email. Does anybody know how to change the setting in my Windows Mail so that the attachments will NOT open up?

On Monday morning, as usual checking mail in office using windows mail, all attachment was able to open (through the paper clip icon or save into other location.
Then after lunch, all type of attachment (picture, excel, words, pdf.) can not be open through the paper clip icon. Then i try to save it and open again, these message pop up "there was an error saving one or more of the attachments. Please check your free disk space and try again", i can't safe the attachment.
If forwarded to other people, it's ok, open and view as normal.
Another thing I encounter, i can't open web based email attachment as well,
since I'd forward (to try) the office attachment mail to my personal account.
I try to save it, the saving process as usual, but when saving is done, the file was not saved at all.
I'm using Vista Home basic, Version 6.0 (build 6002: SP2)

I have Win defender ON, and AVG free edition, Version 9.0.708
Some said it's IE 8 causing the problem, so i uninstall it, the same problem happened.
now I'm using IE 7 (Version 7.0.6002.18005)
Incoming jpg photo attachments cannot be opened. When I click on an attached file, the message "Windows can't find jpg file" appears. Get the same error if I want to open an outgoing jpg file. Have not made any changes to the computer other than adding IE8, but this problem occured before installing that. Reboots don't help and haven't found anything in troubleshooting that addresses this issue.

I keep current with upgrades. This laptop has always had a screwy copy of windows. I'm looking forward to Windows 7. I hope it has drivers for my 2+ year old Acer Aspire 5610. I am running Vista Home Edition/OL 07. I have an email in my outbox for 4 days that has a 1 GB file attached I cannot delete it is hanging up other very small emails also from going out. I have tried working offline and deleted the auto send receive, shutting down etc. Only way I can get any emails out at all is to shut down OL program and restart it, but that only works sometimes.
