I have an Acer laptop with Vista Home and want to get an MPV film clip on it, from a brief segment of a talk show on my Tivo. I have a Dazzle plugged into a USB port, and have installed drivers that device manager shows to be working correctly. "Help" says I can use USB as a source, but I cannot find a way.
I have just recently installed Age of Empires III on my gateway vista laptop and the install went fine but when I play the game all the colors look like camera film negatives. Is there some setting to change to make the colors look normal? BTW it is an XP game if that has anything to do with.
I have evga motherboard with built in Realtek HD audio (ALC883). Board features 2 ports for digital audio (optical and coaxial). and according to manual both are output. However when installed vista drivers one of the ports has been chosen as digital output (optical) and another as digital input (coax) (i can see that when i hover the mouse over the jacks in "Realtek HD audio manager") Is there any way to make the coaxial port as an output port instead of optical? My my HT reciver has no free optical ports so i have to use coax to get some sound from the computer.
I use a AT&T exspress aircard and can't send mail out through windows mail on Vista. Do I need to change my outgoing mail port from 25 to another port number? If so what port or how do I obtain that info?
I am not able to download any clipart from Microsoft, it says I don't have Clip Organizer/Gallery on my computer. But surely I should as it's Vista? Clip Organizer is listed as a program on my computer, but it doesn't seem to be available or be working.
The paper clip ikon shows when there is not any attachment. I understand that this is caused by using AVG Free to scan the incoming e-mail. Does anyone know if I upgrade to the full paid version of AVG will this be corrected? I have Vista 64 home premium and explorer for e-mail.
Since I have moved from Outlook Express to VISTA Windows Mail whenever I try to past from the clipboard into an e-mail I am composing it automatically changes any foriegn language fonts characters to all English characters. I would then have to highlight each foriegn language phrase and then select the language font from the font menu. I should not have to do this if Window Mail would retain the original fonts from the clipboard or other document program I am pasting from. How can I resolve this problem.
I installed microsoft office 97(I found the CD) on my vista and each time i try to insert a picture or some clipart it will say" The clip Gallery Encountered and Error. Try restarting Windows or reinstalling microsoft office applications." and then it will stop responding and not save my work

I wonder what kind off shop it was? so i took a look and looks like someone has try'd to put something or FORCE something into USB port? i'v uploaded a pic from silly phone sorry about Quality but u can see that the port on the right is broken? AKA Wont work now the port on the left looks ok, so i try'd to hook up ex HD, Iphone and nothing works ? no power to device and PnP dont find anything new ?

I just bought the XFX GeForce 8400 GS from Amazon. I noticed that there is no DVI or VGA port it said DMS-59 on it, what is that and can I run DVI on it? Amazon.com: XFX PVT86SWML4 GeForce 8400GS 256MB GDDR2 DMS-59 Dual DVI Low Profile Monitor Solution PCI Express x16 Video Card: Electronics
My Son's computer was working yesterday and this morning he can't surf using IE 8 or Firefox. It appears Port 80 is being blocked. I have disabled the firewall temporarily and this did not resolve the issue. I did the "netsh winsock reset" and this did not fix the problem. I have reset my router with no change. I am able to ping the DNS, the Default router and his IP address within the command window. I can also ping yahoo.com, google.com within the command window, but can't reach them with either browser. He did not have System Restore enabled, so I can't use that as a solution. Can the group recommend some options for me to try? He is using Vista Home Premium, and a wireless card. I can also see ALL GREEN when I open up the Network Sharing tool. There is a green line between his IP and the Wireless Card and green line between the Wireless Card and the Internet.
Pretty strange that I couldn't find one google result about WHERE a USB 2.0 port is, everything is "how do I know I have USB 2.0" and not actually where they are on the computer. Some may say well, just plug in a USB 2.0 usb and see what happens.
However my USB Drive has ALWAYS been saying I'm plugging it in in a port that does not support USB 2.0. I've done this at my college and the same bs occurs. This does not occur for any of my USB drives, not even my 16G one. Should also mention that whenever I try to access the USB drive, it says "Drive E not formatted, would you like to format it now?" Obviously I click no. This by the way has nothing to do with my recent virus issues. This particular USB drive has been like this for years now.-
in vista, I found that once I deleted the WSD printer icon, in the server property, the WSD port stays here, and I can't delete it, I should reboot my PC for deleting it, So I want to know why it's locked, and if I want handle this WSD port, how can I do it?
I am curious about the change to port 587. After upgrading to Vista SP1, using Windows Mail, I had the same problem as a few on this board, but only with my roadrunner service. I could receive mails. However, I could send e-mails that were very short (read one or two lines), but anything of any length and I got the usual message of server connection unexpectly closed. I turned off my antivirus program completely and still got the message and could not send e-mails of any basic length. However, I did try the suggestion in a previous thread of changing the smtp port to 587 (even though it appeared to be a comcast network) and, so far, it appears to solve my problem with roadrunner (knock on wood).
I had Apache server installed on Vista Home Premium and it worked fine until the Vista security update 2 days ago. Something is blocking port 80. I ran netstat -ano and find out it is PID 4 which is System is using port 80, but I have no idea which one just added with the update to stop the service.
I am using windows XP and i want to disable the usb port (i dont want it to detect flash memories or external storage devices) but at the same time i want it to detect the usb printer, so i cant totally disable the usb port ...
i miss the old audio manger when it pop's up a balloon asking you what that port will be. i need to change my computer rear line in to headphones or speakers.
Vista Home Premium SP1. Is it possible to use more than one device in a single USB port? The reason I ask is that I have five USB ports, four at the back and one at the front. As the one at the front is more accessible, I use this for a Joystick I occasionally use. Can I also use this same port for another device, in this case an MP3 player, not at same time?
I'm asking the right question ...I have an older application (circa 2002) that connects to a VHF radio thru a serial or USB cable. The software only has provisions for communicating with the radio thru COM's 1 thru 4. Is there some way to emulate or dedicate a COM port thru a USB connection?
(running Vista Home Premium) I seem to have lost my COM1 port (and all other COM / LPT ports with it). I use Palm T5 and need the COM1 port for synching this device. The Palm cradle is plugged into a USB connection straight into the computer (not the USB hub ports). But I get the error "The selected port, COM1, is not available at this time. Hotsynch manager will open the port when it become available."
I dont have any modems etc running, and when I look in Device manager, there is no line like "Communication ports", COM and Printer ports or something like it. Curiously, I have my old HP Laser jet 4 running smoothly - so there must be some printer port somewhere.
I login remotely to 3 servers, and if I choose 5 clients. I have full administrator rights. Suddenly, I am not able to remote into Client 01( Windows Vista). Our MS Pro says someone or something has blocked or locked :3389 and he does not know how to either rebuild it or fix it. The client, is a fairly new Dual Core Vista Machine and I was logging into it just fine, until...A major Software program was installed, and certain permissions were accessed (I do not know which ones). Then it blocked me. It is locked or blocked. We can't seem to find the one thing we need to get it back. The permissions pertained to multiple users ,using the same program on our application Server. No one, including the MS Pro would have purposely shut that port down. What I am looking at from my out of town side is: A BRICK. It Says: Connectiveity to the Remote Computer could not be established. Ensure that the remote computer is on and connected to the Small Business Server network.
Have a web site (portal if you will) that i log into to get files etc from the office..it uses NT Challeng response for authentication once you hit the URL. Under XP it brings up the user id and password which lets me in..Vista on the other hand alos brings up the login dialog but just never gets authenticated. I suspect it's Vista given XP and IE7 works...anyone any thoughts? I've removed all firewalls etc to see what happens without them but to no avail...
I got this message when i tried to view any website. I looked for a solution all over the internet. I tried everything suggested and nothing worked so I just started messing around. Here is what finaly fixed it. Click Tools, internet options, connections, LAN settings, uncheck use a proxy server for you LAN
I have some old hardware with an RS232 (9 pin) connection to my notebook. I have downloaded a driver for the Serial to USB converter, and my Vista Enterprise OS seems happy with it. However, the hardware only allows communication with COM ports 1 to 4, and as far as I can judge my USB ports are 8, 9 and 10. Can I renumber these ports to make communication possible, or is there another way of doing this?
my netgear router dg834g will not portforward, i am new too this so its probably an easy mistake where i am going wrong.
ive tried following the insructions by finding my router on portforward.com and going through those steps, and it didnt seem too work so i started too look for more detailed guides on the internet.
i came across this Internet video Internet - port forwarding on the dg834g and did everything it said once id completed the steps i went too canyouseeme.org too test my port and it was closed.
error: i could not see your service on xx.x.xx.xx on port (43594)
reason: connection timed out that is what canyouseeme.org told me.
id also like too add i think my problem may lie with my laptop not being directly connected too the router, would this change any steps in the Internet video above?
I recently bought a HD Camcorder. I bought Pinnacle Studio Ultimate to edit my film. I am able to connect my camcorder to my laptop using USB, but the software doesn't recognize my camera. It says I need to use Firewire or 1394 port. When I hook my camera up with HDMI, the camera and computer do not recognize each other. I know the HDMI works, because I've used it for my TV. I am not sure what the Firewire port is, or if my laptop has on?I much rather use my HDMI port. Is there a way I can get my computer to recognize devices hooked up through HDMI ? I am using Windows Vista.
