Dragging The Mouse Cursor Across A Window

I have a new laptop that came with Windows Vista. I recent had to format the hard drive and re-install Vista. That went pretty smoothly. Problem is that sometimes while dragging the mouse cursor across a window, Vista tries to hold the mouse cursor in the center of the window and and mouse movements scroll the window, not move the mouse cursor. How do I turn this feature off? I never want a window to scroll unless I explicitly grab and move a scroll bar.

I am having some problems with my mouse cursor, at first I thought it was my logitech wireless mouse and I got a different wireless microsoft mouse, and still have the problem. When I go to click on something, sometimes I have to click above it because it seems as if the mouse is not actually clicking where the cursor is.

Just been forcibly upgraded at work from win95 to vista. I'm partially sighted, and one of the things I *still* can't suss out is being able to turn on a "sonar" feature where you press the control key and get a series of concentric circles explaining where you lost the mouse cursor. if the mouse cursor is a rather indistinct blob amid more indistinct blobs it does actually help if the one you're looking for is the one that wriggles when you tell it to!

Sometimes when i watch a movie in ect wmp or streams something on the net, then my mouse cursor often goes ape :s It turns in to a thin line or either it shows up like it has been in a blender because its messed up. Normaly it fixes with a reboot or if i am lucky then i can try click around a bit or open and close folders, then it turns normal again. I have a radeon 4800 1 gb ddram and i have tryed with uniblue, ccleaner, Seach and destroy. scandisk, defrag and clear temp folders. I tryed to update every single program and drivers, but i have a clue that it could be related to codex packs.. I use K-Lite newest. I tryed to remove and install K lite over and over, but this problems is still driving me nutz.

Hey my names Mike and at the moment i have an HP Slimline with Vista Home Premium. (Vista Home Premium was already installed when i bought it) So heres my problem- I bought my comuter a couple months ago and its been working great. But a couple days ago whe i was trying to set up a webcam with software, i was told to restart my computer. fine. Though afterwards when it was booting up and after the Windows logo apeared it said Welcome and then went black with only my mouse cursor.
Im not to tech savey so i'm not to sure what im doing. Ctrl+Alt+Delete does work. Safe Mode Works also (Not really sure what to do in Safe mode though) Also im not sure if it's the new software or a malfunction in my computer but I've tried several times to restart it with no success. I've also tried a system restore with no success either.

My mouse (cursor) is very erratic - jumps all over the place without warning, sometimes disappears for several seconds. I have to chase it around to bring it back in control! It is a laser mouse. I tried another one from another computer that I know works, and I have the same problem.

My HDD activity indicator lights up for 20 minutes and even mouse cursor freezes some times. This is because of uTorrent 1.8.3 and video conversion activity I guess. Will increasing of RAM from 2gb to 6gb help? Can I combine 2x1gb 800mhz installed modules with new 2x2gb 1066mhz modules? Page file is on G: HDD already, not C:. Windows Vista is x64.

The thumbnails that appear when you move the cursor over minimized applications or windows now don't show the contents of the window properly, apart (it seems!) from Windows Mail....all the others are blank with a small square icon in the middle. Anyone noticed that?

If I have a window open and move my mouse over to the left or top edge to resize the window, the cursor changes to the double arrow not on the border but inside the window a bit. On the other two sides the cursor changes outside the window a bit. If I click on the mouse, the cursor edges over to the correct position on the appropriate border.

The coordinate of the cursor in my Vista is not at the tip of the arrow, instead it is at the tail of the arrow. When I click a file name, the file underneath would be opened; if move the cursor to the edge of IE, the double head arrow will apear at the bottom-left of the edge.

When I drag a URL from a browser to my Vista Ultimate Desktop, it creates an icon, but clicking on that icon brings up a file location and not the web site. Older Bookmarks or Shortcuts I saved from before this Vista machine, work fine. But ones created by dragging a link or url from a Browser to the desktop don't work.
When I bring up in any browser, and drag the link to the desktop, then clicking on the shortcut on the desktop (or in a folder too) I get the following (I've replaced my name):
file:///C:/Users/My%Name/Documents/Desktop/Welcome%20to%20the%20Montgomery%20County%20Maryland%20Website.URL The properties of the shortcut show no Web tab. The Location in the General Tab shows "C:UsersMy Name....[etc.]. It does show to open with my browser. The Details Tab shows the Folder Path as "C:Users...[etc.] and finally! The Computer is listed as the correct URL web address I have seen other discussions on dragging and dropping to the Vista Desktop not working listed on this site (found using Google) but couldn't bring them up in the search from within this Support site.

I've just tried to create a shortcut of the Music folder by dragging it to the desktop, but instead vista places a duplicate (not a copy or a shortcut) of the folder to the desktop. It gets better, i then decided to delete what i thought was the music folder shortcut located on the desktop and hastily clicked the yes
button to trash it. I'm assuming the file names were too big for the bin, and lost over 1300 songs! I'm just after some answers as to why vista does this? Just FYI, the right way to get it off your desktop is to drag it back to it's default folder.

I have a failed download icon on my desktop. I've tried to delete it using right-click/dragging to recycle bin but they each fail. (It just says "deleting 0 bytes" & continues forever.) I've tried to use Disk Cleaners "Delete Doctor" (which has worked once before) but now will not work. I've Refreshed & rebooted by system countless times. I've tried the Registry Edit (Run: regedit) but I'm unsure which file to delete. How do I know I'm deleting the right file? I'm using Vista Home Premium (32-bit).

I have an old Logitech but fully functional mouse (cordless optical).
When I ran Vista x86 Ultimate, I installed a small program that allowed me to double-click with middle mouse button. Now, with Vista x64 Ultimate, it doesn't work anymore.
Do someone know another small program to allow me that?

Can anyone explain this: 3219. The screenshot shows the folder view (in Windows Explorer), and a directory listing (in a Command Line window). Why is the Explorer window showing different filenames than the command line window? It's not so much of an issue, as I'm currently completing a scheduled backup of this drive using Nero Burning ROM, and will be formatting it soon.

I have a problem that I can't figure out how to fix. I have this new Acer
laptop with Vista. When I try to type the cursor just suddenly places
itself in the middle of a previous line. For instance I will be typing and
all of a sudden the middle of "sudden" will insert itself 2 lines up. I
tried updating the touchpad driver but it still does it. Any hints? I have
heard of another person who has the same problem and never found out what
causes it.

I just installed the latest drivers for the graphics card in my laptop, and when I restarted my computer, my cursor became invisible. I can move the mouse and still hover over links and click on things, the only thing is that I can't see the cursor. The cursor moves when I move the mouse, but I can't see it moving...its invisible somehow. Everything worked fine up until I installed the new graphics drivers.

I just bought a new dell XPS with Vista and I am having problems with my mouse. For example, in MS Paint when drawing lines the "precision" cursor is used which looks like cross hairs. Instead of lines starting from the center of the cross hairs it starts above and to the left (which is coincidentally where the point of an arrow cursor would be). I have similar issues in adobe elemens where precision is needed.

When starting up there's just a blank black screen with a blinking cursor on the top left of screen.
I waited for hours and still won't boot.
I tried fixmbr, rebuildbcd from Vista DVD and it didn't help.
Any help? I'm tired of reinstalling Vista again and again.

i can be typing along and all of a sudden a new window pops up or my cursor jumps to another spot in the page. Basically it jumps to wherever I have left the cursor.

In another thread there was a discussion about spyware. I followed some of the advice given and now all of a sudden, the cursor movement is sluggish. Also, when I boot up, my password is sometimes rejected two or three times even though I am being careful in typing. Sometimes I have to click on a link three or four times before it works. My machine is a Packard Bell desktop with 32-bit OS Vista plus SP1.

On any application, when I save for the first time, or save as, the window opens to select where to save (documents, usually) but the cursor becomes a little white circle and if I click in the window, it says not responding at the top. The only recourse it to stop it either from task manager or repeatedly clicking the close icon. Vista 64 Home Premium SP1 Intel Core duo E750, Nvidia Geforce 8800 4 gig ram.

My cursor (not the mouse cursor) won't stay in one place. It jumps from field to field in just about every program I use, going from left to right, just like I'm pushing down the tab button on the keyboard. I'm on a desktop and not a laptop. It makes it very hard to type or to chose options in pop up windows. It makes the scroll bars move all by themselves too. I tried updating my keyboard driver without any improvement.

I have an Acer laptop with Windows Vista Home Edition. Ever since I purchased it I've had a problem with the cursor jumping from one point on the screen to another. I place the cursor on a button or thread I want to open but the cursor jumps to another part of the screen. Also, it locks up some times when I am trying to scroll and the scroll bar takes off like a rocket. Other times I'll be dragging the scroll bar and it will snap back to it's original position.

Cursor on desktop continually switches between Normal Select and Working in Background when a manually initiated or task manager scheduled minimized script is running. If the cursor is positioned over an item on the desktop, the flashing stops.
The behaviour is an unnecessary visual distraction.
It can be reproduced on demand using the following milliwait.bat script
running minimized..................

my cursor is locked in the center. I have a logitec usb mouse and I have switched to an older mouse with the round plug. I've rebooted with both and get same results. Keyboard does work.
