View 9 Replies View RelatedI've just bought for my brother a new laptop (Toshiba sat A355-S6998)(Core 2 Duo 2.0 Ghz , 4 GB ram) with Vista home premium 64 bit OS on it, but i want to downgrade it to vista home premium 32 bit, because the programes my bro want to use in his study didn't work due to incompatibility issues "Autocad 2004 or 2007 versions only" and other programes. Now, is this downgrade safe? Am i going to face any problems after that? I've heard that even the platform or hardware in 64 bit differ from 32 bit, is that right? Note: A computer technician is going to perform the downgrade.

View 8 Replies View RelatedI bought a new computer with Windows Vista Home Premium. I heard that I can downgrade this to a windows XP license.
What version of Windows XP do I qualify for? What is the downgrade equivalent for all versions of Windows Vista?
I purchased two copies of vista, one 64 and one 32. The 32 bit was installed on a different machine and the 64 bit on my own. Since then I have found 64 bit to be rather incompatible with my needs. I am wondering if I can reformat my computer with 64 bit on it, then install the 32 bit software on it using the 64 bit product key so I don't use the same key twice. Since I only have OEM, I am wondering if my 64 bit key would be compatible with a 32 bit copy of Vista.

View 6 Replies View Relatedrecently bought solidwork student edition which, as i now know, doesnt run on vista 64bit. It would be too expensive to buy the premium version of solidworks as im a student! The only option i can think of to get solidworks to run is to downgrade to 32bit OS, maybe business or ultimate. My CPU is running at 64bit. Will this still all work? Or any better ideas?

View 9 Replies View Relatedwhen I checked my computer today I discovered that my imported folders list is no longer showing up in Windows Mail. It is not just hidden, it has completely disappeared. It does not even show up when I check under my appdata user profile in the C: drive. Any ideas where it may have gone? It contains about 10 years of important emails.

View 9 Replies View RelatedLocal Folders created to store mail messages such as, receipts for online payments, passwords, etc. have been disappearing. I did not delete them and can't find information related to saved folders or options related to saving email messages. Sending/receiving emails works fine and since the files were stored for many months without an issue, I have to conclude it is a problem with Windows Mail. Formerly I used XP/Outlook Express and had no issue with email saved in local folders. I would like to recover my local files.

When permanetely deleting 1 folder it deletes the folders below and they seem gone forever. Searched for emails and folders and they are gone. Must be on the drive somewhere (forensics?)
View 6 Replies View RelatedI'm new to Windows Mail. Have noted numerous exchanges on this and other forums re problems with constant prompting for compacting. Have not found any referring to my situation. I want to compact folders. When responding 'OK' to prompt, I receive notification thatprocess is starting with back up then I get another message advising 'folder is already in use by Windows Mail or by another application'. Have tried pausing virus protection but this makes no difference.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have to buy a new computer and am very reluctant to use VISTA (I personally like XP Home). However, there aren't a whole lot of options out there in the stores.
One option I did hear about is buying a computer with VISTA installed and with the option of downgrading (free) to Windows XP Pro.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI'm not a computer guru but I know enough to get myself in trouble. I bought a new Dell laptop about 6 months ago and they talked me into going with Vista Home Premium. I really like what Vista is supposed to do but I'm getting way too frustrated with all the little things that go wrong all the time.
1. Internet Explorer locks up then fades and says it's "Not Responding". Then I go to Task Manager and kill the program then start up IE again and all is well, for a little bit anyway.
2. A couple of programs will all of a sudden freeze the entire laptop and the only way I can fix it is to hold down the power button until it powers down............
This evening I was browsing through the Dell forum and came across the following post in a thread initiated by someone who asked if it was possible to downgrade from Vista to XP. I thought it was pretty funny and those of you with a sense of humor probably will too. "Are you SERIOUS? Vista is the greatest thing since Internet porn.
Why, since I have installed it my dog has been cured of arthritis, and my johnson has grown by a full 4". I am no longer constipated, my skin has cleared up, and I have begun to win friends and influence people. I have won the lottery, single-handedly achieved world peace, and have convinced Nicole Richie to stay sober.
Adults and small children trust me, and my bank has decided to pay ME interest on the loan I took out. My lawn is greener, and my car never runs out of has. Global warming has reversed, and disease and famine have been wiped off the face of the earth. Get rid of Vista?
I have just built a new PC and installed Vista Home Premium X64, basically, I am having a lot more software compatibility issues than I expected - some with programs I require for work purposes and as such can???t be without. Microsoft are not allowing you to use your purchased Vista licence to temporarily downgrade to XP while the well publicised compatibility issues are addressed?

View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm using Windows Mail that is "connected" to my Verizon account. Months ago I created subfolders to archive older emails. I diligently moved them into this folder. I also created another subfolder under the archived folder as well. I've had what I can only call "mysterious" issues where e-mails appear and them moments later, they are gone from my inbox. I thought I had the issue (simplistically) solved by diligently moving new items into the archive folder immediately.
Now (12/26/09) those subfolders are gone. They are not under any other folder in Windoes Mail. What is very odd (and there's quite a lot) is that I did find a lot of them now back in my Inbox but not all. The archived folders I created were under the Inbox folder as a subfolder. I don't think this has anything to do with views.
I am having problems downloading IMAP folders into Windows Mail. It asks me for a username and password, so I enter my details as per login into webmail. However, it says the following: "The server has rejected your login. Please verify that your username and password are correct. Login failed.

This is the third time now my mail has had problems. I am at the moment attempting to get Microsoft help but that seems to be taking forever. 2 times previous to this I have logged into my Windows Mail and found that they have had to retrieve all my mail folders as they got "lost" somehow. Now I log in yesterday morning to check on some e-mails that I have saved in a folder titled "Job Searches" and all of the e-mails in there are there in title only but have no content. Another folder same thing basically except that every e-mail content is the same. I'm baffled.
View 4 Replies View RelatedHow do you mark folders read in Windows Mail? In Thunderbird, for instance, if you right click on a folder you get a drop down box with one of the options being to mark the folder read. How can that be done in WM without clicking on each message individually to mark it as read. Sometimes I keep a group of messages as not read. Then when I'm finished with them, I mark them as read.
