Customize Installation Disk Containing The OS And HP Vista 64 Drivers

Mar 23, 2008

i have a legal vista ultimate license unused on any machine and NOT OEM. i would like to install vista ultimate 64 on a new laptop. it came preinstalled with home premium 32 (the T7500 processor so it can take 64bit). i would like to create a custom install disk containing the OS and the HP vista 64 drivers. I would also like if possible to include some of the pre installed bloatware (I know, I know, I dont want MS works or norton, but I would not mind the HP help system and the system monitors and system update etc).

I have created a recovery disk which contains 6 or 7 .wim files each about the size of a CD. I presume the windows (home premium) as well as all the bloatware and drivers are included in these image files. I installed the WAIK and tried to use to GUI image manager (or whatever it is called) to mount the files but could not. I was able to dir using imageX command line, but was unable to mount the image file or files using imagex /mount rw if i could somehow accomplish this maybe i could build a custom image file with the ultimate 64 and drivers and etc/ I guess an alternative is to use vlite, and HP vista 64 drivers that I download, but I dont know if this would give me the system monitoring tools

Drivers For Belkin Wireless Card (f5d7001uk) Which Doesnt Have Any Vista 32 Drivers

Feb 15, 2008

ever since planning on a new pc build i knew at some point that id want to install vista on it. Ive planned to get vista 64 seeing as i have a machine capable of running a 64 bit o/s with ease (when i buy my extra 2gb of ram along with my copy of vista) I have been doing my research on which of my games ill still be able to play & tbh the only ones that im remotely worried about are older than red orchestra so no problems there.

My only real concern is the drivers for my belkin wireless card (f5d7001uk) which doesnt have any vista 32 drivers! But ive heard a rumour that vista automatically installs the drivers itself?? Im also worried that some of the useful little apps i have installed wont install such as winrar, wavepad, deepburner pro 1.8 & punkbuster

Default Vista Supplemental Drivers Would Mean Loss Of Graphics Quality Compared To Using Up To Date Drivers On A XP OS

Oct 4, 2005

While being satisfied by the cool effects and new interface of Windows Vista Codename Longhorn, many of us testers are what you would call "gamers." The lot of us would like to know if gaming on the default Vista Supplemental drivers would mean loss of graphics quality compared to using up to date drivers on a XP OS. For example, I installed Vista and then installed my trusty game, Battlefield 2. I tried using the new nvidia Vista drivers but the game kept crashing when I start it up. So I reinstalled the Vista Supplemental drivers and it happened to work. Quite interesting. I am able to run the game on default vista drivers and not the nvidia vista drivers. Coming to conclusion, would using the vista drivers result in loss of quality and graphics compared to using up to date drivers on a XP system?  Or you can also rephrase it; Would gaming be better on the Vista Beta or XP? Does anyone know if SLI works on Vista?

Webcam Drivers Can Not Installation

Jan 31, 2009

I've just bought a new ZT computer with Vista home premium 64bit o.s. I also bought a new webcam, the logitch pro-9000. Driver's installation went fine, but at the end I've got a message telling me that 'the required line was not found in the INF'. (see attached file for the whole message). I had the exact same issue with my old 'Epson' scanner which worked fine on my old computer with the XP pro. os. On the other hand, both my 'Canon' printers are working fine. All these devices are connected through USB2.
1. Is there an issue with the imaging devices?
2. Is there a known and easy cure? (I'm not a computer savvy).
3. Is it safe and/or will it help to download one of those 'drivers updater and fixer'?

Vista Installation Disk To "fix" A Vista Boot

Apr 28, 2009

Does anybody know exactly what might have happened to require me to use my Vista installation disk to "fix" a Vista boot problem? Here's the situation:

I have five OS installations on one hard drive -- each in a separate partition. When I boot, the Microsoft boot "loader" gives me a choice of "Older Windows Installations" (a separate screen from which I can choose either of two XP Pro installations), Vista 32-bit, Vista 64- bit, and Windows 7 Beta.

Over the weekend I realized I was running out of room in my Vista 32- bit partition, so I ensured all the partitions were backed up individually with Ghost and deleted all the OS partitions but my C: partition (one of the XP installations) using the Windows disk manager. Then I rebuilt and resized the partitions and reinstalled the OSs using Ghost.......................

Default Drivers Loaded Hangs During Installation

Apr 13, 2008

I've been trying to install Vista Home Premium (clean install from Upgrade media) on my primary desktop for over a week with major issues. Most appear to be driver related on an nVidia board using nForce drivers for the SATA control. I installed using the default drivers that Vista loaded and had to deal with multiple hangs during installation. Finally got it installed only to have it hang during Win Update and blue screen, then fail to boot. Recovery was unsuccessful and so another reinstall was done. Next blue screen ended up with a "Corrupt or missing" error on ci.dll and absolutely no ability to reboot to Windows.

Decided I'd had enough and went to reinstall XP. Now I have issues with the drives being accessible to either XP setup or Vista setup. Tried loading SATA drivers and nothing worked. No drives visible........

Incomplete Installation Disk Manager Not Work

Feb 6, 2009

I have Vista Ultimate x86 on my main harddrive. Yesterday I tried to dual boot the beta of Windows 7 on my secondary harddrive which is clean. During the final steps of the installation, I had an electrical shortage. My installation of Windows 7 was incomplete on my second harddrive. Now when I try to open my computer, booting into Vista on my main drive is very slow and has limited functionality. Opening "My Computer" and the Vista disk manager does not work so I cant format the harddrive in question. However when I disconnect that harddrive from my computer, Vista loads fine. So if anyone can give me solutions for formatting my harddrive without having to log into Vista that would be great.

Missing Vista Drivers And How To Get It

Apr 6, 2008

When you have a relatively new OEM product (in this case an NVIDIA motherboard) and the computer manufacturer doesn't seem to care that you are missing Vista drivers, ultimately how do you ever get through to the company? Every time I put this desktop to sleep, when I wake it up there's no Internet connection. I must fully restart the machine each and every time in order to get an Internet connection.

(I'm running a cable modem situation in a home office. I do have a router, but bypassing the router entirely does not change the situation.) The manufacturer has confirmed that this is a motherboard problem (NVIDIA's nForce 680i SLI). More specifically, they say that NVIDIA has not released an updated Vista driver to correct the situation. This situation has been ongoing for at least 8 months. Because the motherboard is an OEM product, NVIDIA won't talk with me directly. The same is true for Microsoft.

Installation Of Multiple Boots - Clone Disk Image And Set Up Boot Manually?

May 3, 2008

I have a need to install 4 systems of Vista on a single machine (4 partitions of my main system hard disk). Given that Vista always seems to see its own system drive as C, would it be possible to create my "master image" with SP1, all my drivers, utilities, system tweaks, and other "generic" applications (like Office/Acrobat etc), and then just clone this drive across to all the partitions I need to set up (on D, E, and F). Then, using VistaBootPRO, I could edit the BCD to include all the other partitions. Can anyone think of a reason this would not work?

ATI Vista 64 Drivers: Machine Slow Down

Sep 10, 2007

My friend and I have been going back and forth about his computer for a while. When Vista is installed it runs fine. Its not until we add the ATI vista 64 drivers does the machine slow down to a crawl. Originally this was with an x1600xt so we upgraded to the hd2600xt. Same issue. Now comes the weird part. So we got our hands on a single core amd 64 3200+ cpu and put it in. Now the machine runs fine. Why would using a dual core processor slow the machine down significantly. He has set up a dual boot with xp 64 and it runs fine with the x2 processor.

Stata Disk And Installed Vista Upgrade Top Xp Disk

Mar 13, 2009

I need to replace my wife's motherboard, and I am trying to minimize the amount of change. She is currently running XP, but the hardware is old enough that I cannot simply swap the MBs, because a new board will need a different HAL. I was thinking about installing XP and migrating applications. I was wondering what would happen if I cloned her disk to a SATA disk and installed a Vista upgrade on top of the XP disk. I would run setup and provide the appropriate drivers at the F6 prompt. She has used Vista on occasion when we are out-of-town. I have a separate userID on my laptop that is configured to look as much as possible like XP. The question is whether a Vista upgrade would work on top of an XP image that used a lot of older hardware.

Canon Printer Does Not Support AMD 64 / Vista 64, Drivers

May 1, 2008

I'm running Vista 64 on an AMD 64 Platform. I have the above printer. When I download drivers from Canon's website they are only Intel compatible. Yes, I have looked and re-looked and I'm sure. Canon does not support AMD 64/ Vista 64 for their Drivers (yet). I have tried to go through Device Manager, and there is no printer listed. I have tried to Add Hardware and I get "Restart Printer Spooler". I re-start printer spooler. Still no go. This may seem like a basic question. The Vista Disc, when installed does not have a repair feature like the old XP. How can I get the default printer driver off the disk?

Reinstall Vista Conflicting Drivers Would Not Activate Internet

Apr 24, 2009

Anytime I do any major hardware upgrade on my computer, I reinstall Vista so I don't have conflicting drivers causing problems. I've had to do that 3 times in the past 7 months or so. (Been rigorously upgrading my computer, lol) This past time when I installed a new motherboard, it wouldn't let me activate over the internet. I had to go thru the task of calling MS for activation. Now is this going to be a problem for me down the road some. Are they going to say,"Nope we're not activating your product because we suspect you're installing vista on multiple computers" Which is completely untrue. I know I'm going to reinstall again at least once by the end of the year when I get my i7 processor, new mobo and ram. I really don't want to spend another 300 dollars on Vista Ultimate because MS won't activate my current copy of it.

Error 0x0000007b (it Swoops In Right When Vista Is Telling Me The Version Of Os --after Drivers Are Loaded)

Jun 24, 2009

my challenge is to solve this slimy bsod: error 0x0000007b (it swoops in right when vista is telling me the version of os --after drivers are loaded). I have done a few things, like using vista boot cd to try bootrec.exe (and all it's commands), searching for winload.exe (which hasn't been modified since 2008 by the time stamp), I've done chkdsk /f, and maybe a few other things which right now I can't remember....so If you dare try your hand at the mutant, ooze-breathing bsod I commend you brave one, but I warn you...yes.

Unable To Get Vista To Recognize Drivers For My Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 In A Non-RAID Capacity

Apr 30, 2009

I am unable to get Vista to recognize drivers for my Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 in a non-RAID capacity. It's a SATA drive and I am of the understanding that these cause similar problems fairly frequently. In most cases about which I have read, the issue has been solved by choosing the "load driver" option during Vista installation and manually selecting a SATA driver from a driver disk of some form. Unfortunately, this course of action has not turned up any SATA driver on my motherboard's driver disk nor have I been able to find one at the manufacturer's (Gigabyte) website. I am currently waiting for a reply from Gigabyte customer care and am about to look up JMicron's (the SATA controller producer for Gigabyte) website, but I hoped someone here might have some insight into the problem.
