using vista 64 bit, I installed counter strike 1.6 on it it works but when creating a game and after loading the map it freezes and when clicking " ok " to enter and select the player, it can't be clicked and i cant go back by clicking " Esc" button and i must close the game by " ctrl , alt ,del"

new to the forum and dont have much computer experience. But im having this problem for Counter-Strike 1.6. I've downloaded steam and got all the updates. When I try to connect to a server to play, the box would show "Establishing connection to network server.." with 3 bar and froze. The only way out would be Ctrl+Alt+Del and End Task. At first, I thou it was Windows Firewall and the router. After I've disable both, still no luck. A friend is having the same issue and hes also running Vista x64.
i used to play css at a friends and he always had this window where he would type in cheats and stuff. now i got css and the only thing i wanna type in is cl_crosshairscale 9999 which i find very useful. the problem is i dont have an idea how to type it in!
View 8 Replies View RelatedI recently received a new computer for Christmas and it runs a lot better than my old one. First thing I did was download CS:S and ARMA II, two games that I couldn't play on my old computer. At first Counter-Strike was running fine, but after I downloaded ARMA it began to have little connection hiccups which have screwed me over more than once. Then those hiccups became more frequent until eventually I could only stay in a room for about 2 minutes (1 round) before it would give me the WARNING: Connection Problem text. Then it seemingly fixes itself, only everyone on the map is invisible to me but they can still kill me. I try leaving and rejoining, and that fixes the invisibility problem, but the cycle just happens all over again. My ping is usually around 44 and I have a 5.71 Mbps down/ .42 up connection. I also have an Xbox 360 and a PS3, which I also play regularly and rarely get connection problems on those consoles. this is extremely frustrating to deal with and I'm trying to get into competitive pc gaming. I highly doubt that it's my connection, because the internet works fine on everything else, even ARMA II.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a microsoft wireless keyboard and mouse which work really well but when I reboot, the keyboard shortcuts that I have programmed don't work until I go into properties and click on them and then click ok. The keys then work ok until I reboot again.Is there any way that I can programme the changes so they are the default programmes whenever I reboot. The software loaded fine and I clicked on apply and save when I originally set the keys.....I have a HP Pavilion DV6700 Laptop with windows visa home premium which is about one month old.

As the title suggests its about the mouse, I have always had my mouse setup so that I left double-click to get to anything, but although mice have a very long lifespan, and this is mainly why I am posting this (before I get my G9 mouse) I wondered what you all would recommend to prolong the mouse life even more, do any of you use just one click or are you all double-clickers like myself? what would you recommend single or double?
I just don't want to knacker the mouse out too quickly, bearing in mind that it gets used alot in games too and as its recommended for Crysis etc......I am going to be hammering that left mouse button to death
I know I can use my Xbox 360 controller for windows and have been, but as this piece of kit is suggested for Crysis and other games I am going to be using it instead.
is there any way to run the programm as admin immediately or i have to right click on the icon?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have been searching for a soultion and have not come upon one yet. Using Vista Business with a Dell Optiplex Each time I right click my mouse (on anything) all I get is Not Responding and I have to close the program. This problem is not happening in Safe Mode?
I have tried the following solutions i.e.:
- Trying to run sfc /scannow (which will not run)
- Changing Performance settings - did not fix
- Doing a Restore Point (Safe Mode) - one time it worked and then went back to same problem
- Downloading and running Shexview.exe and closing all non-Microsoft Context Menu - no luck here!
- Installed SP2 - still have problem?
When you right click on a program you get the box that opens giving you all kinds of options; run as administrator, scan with, etc. What do you call that box? I am running Vista, but a friend is running XP. She used to have listed in that box the option to scan with her anti virus program, but she no longer does. Is there a way, in XP, to add this to that box?

I have just installed Winzip 10 and there is no right click menu in explorer except for the usual Open/Send to etc, there is not "extract to here" Add to archive etc.
These are all selected in options/context menu commands.

While I work on the computer, nothing out of the ordinary happens... (No problems)... when I walk away for awhile and come back, I click on a shortcut and the computer Freezes... I have to shut down the system to get out of it... Simply put; Vista Randomly Freezes... I've checked the logs to no Avail... To be more precise, I recently installed the K-Lite codec pack, and it has added an option on my right click menu, which is displayed when right clicking on any file, called "Media Info". This is quite annoying because I don't use the program often enough for it to be on my right click menu. So I would like that to be deleted.
I would also like to add an option to my right click menu that is displayed with any file called, "Scan with Spybot - Search & Destroy". And this should obviously scan with spybot. The directory for Spybot is the default:
C:Program FilesSpybot - Search & DestroySpybotSD.exe
Preferably, it should have the spybot logo next to the scan option, but I don't know whether this is asking alot.
