Counter Strike: Source Connection Failed

Dec 28, 2009

I recently received a new computer for Christmas and it runs a lot better than my old one. First thing I did was download CS:S and ARMA II, two games that I couldn't play on my old computer. At first Counter-Strike was running fine, but after I downloaded ARMA it began to have little connection hiccups which have screwed me over more than once. Then those hiccups became more frequent until eventually I could only stay in a room for about 2 minutes (1 round) before it would give me the WARNING: Connection Problem text. Then it seemingly fixes itself, only everyone on the map is invisible to me but they can still kill me. I try leaving and rejoining, and that fixes the invisibility problem, but the cycle just happens all over again. My ping is usually around 44 and I have a 5.71 Mbps down/ .42 up connection. I also have an Xbox 360 and a PS3, which I also play regularly and rarely get connection problems on those consoles. this is extremely frustrating to deal with and I'm trying to get into competitive pc gaming. I highly doubt that it's my connection, because the internet works fine on everything else, even ARMA II.

Counter-Strike 1.6 Connection: 3 Bar And Froze

Mar 14, 2009

new to the forum and dont have much computer experience. But im having this problem for Counter-Strike 1.6. I've downloaded steam and got all the updates. When I try to connect to a server to play, the box would show "Establishing connection to network server.." with 3 bar and froze. The only way out would be Ctrl+Alt+Del and End Task. At first, I thou it was Windows Firewall and the router. After I've disable both, still no luck. A friend is having the same issue and hes also running Vista x64.

Open Source Rides Again!

May 21, 2008

Microsoft was set to announce Thursday that it would make the
interchangeable document format of a competitor available in its own
market-leading Office 2007 software during the first half of 2009.

The company, under pressure from European regulators, national standards
organizations and its own government clients, said it planned to give
customers the ability to open, edit and save documents in Open Document
Format - the main competitor to Word - through a free update.

Windows Live Mail: Edit The 'source'

Feb 28, 2009

I've downloaded and installed Windows Live Mail because some of the 'features' in Outlook Express don't work in Windows Mail. I'll elaborate if needed. I was disappointed with Live mail as it doesn't provide me with the ability to edit the 'source' like OE or Windows Mail does; at least I wasn't able to find it. Seems to me that Live works more like Outlook Mail than Outlook Express.

The Best Free Open Source Software For Windows

Aug 5, 2009

If you run Microsoft Windows, you owe it to yourself to try these 10 killer open source apps -- InfoWorld's top picks By Randall C. Kennedy. To many, free open source software and Microsoft Windows seem to be mutually exclusive. After all, the open source development model is most closely associated with the Linux OS and, to a lesser degree, various Unix derivatives. So when you mention the two together, you often get some rather strange looks. This is a shame because there exists a growing landscape of compelling free and open source solutions just waiting for the intrepid Windows user

How Can I Make The Right Click View Source Open Page In FrontPage?

May 24, 2008

I can get the right click drop down menu's 'View source' to always open a web page in MS Frontpage instead of Notepad? This is when I have a web page of a site I'm working with open on my screen in IE7. I use Windows Vista Home Premium. You could easily achieve this with WinXP using TweakUI but I don't know how to do it in Vista. Reason I want to do this is because the 'Edit with' button at taskbar at top of screen always greys out after any refresh of the page. Is there a registry tweak would let me fix this? Prefer not to have to install an entire tweaking program just for this one change.

Auto-identify Country Source Of Emails Received Via Software Addin

Jan 12, 2010

We are looking for a software or add-in that can be installed within Vista Mail and that would automatically identify the country of origin of each email received... for example by showing a small country flag icon beside each incoming email within our mailbox.

We need to quickly filter spam and competitor emails from certain countries. At present, we do it manually by copy pasting the header of a suspicious mail into a website online that looks up the country of origin for us. So we would like to know of any add-in that automates this process, paid or otherwise, or any alternatives that people are using for this kind of problem.

The "power-troubleshooter" Source Will Tell You What Woke It Up Out Of Sleep

Mar 17, 2008

Nearly all sleep problems are caused by devices that are set to be able to wake the computer back up again. They can wake your computer instantly, randomly, or can cause your computer not to fully enter sleep mode and even cause it never to wake up. If you have any problems similar to the ones described then the following could be your cure.

Advanced Users: Check the system event log. The "power-troubleshooter" source will tell you what woke it up out of sleep. If it says "Wake Source: Unknown" Its most likely to do with step 3.

1) Disable Vista's multimedia sharing option from restricting sleep:

Type 'power options' in the start menu and press enter->Choose 'Balanced' -> 'Change plan settings' (for the chosen power plan) -> 'Change advanced power settings' -> Scroll down to 'Multimedia settings' -> Choose 'Allow the computer to sleep'

2) Prevent Devices from being able to wake your computer.

Type 'device manager' in the start menu and press enter

-> Expand 'Keyboards' -> Right click 'properties' on your keyboard -> 'Power Management' tab -> Deselect 'Allow this device to wake the computer' -> OK ,..............
