When you right click on a program you get the box that opens giving you all kinds of options; run as administrator, scan with, etc. What do you call that box? I am running Vista, but a friend is running XP. She used to have listed in that box the option to scan with her anti virus program, but she no longer does. Is there a way, in XP, to add this to that box?

View 7 Replies View RelatedI've read a few topics that talk about editing the Recycle Bin right-click menu, but I don't care about that. What I want to do is to be able to right-click anywhere...in any folder, on the desktop, etc. and have the option of emptying my recycle bin. I had a registry tweak in XP and I tried it in Vista just to see if it would work, but no good. I know it can be done via a registry setting but I'm not too familiar with Vista's system registry locations yet.

What are Special Permissions, and if they're important for anything, how do I enable them? Logging on as Administrator produces the same effect. The keys then work ok until I reboot again.Is there any way that I can programme the changes so they are the default programmes whenever I reboot. The software loaded fine and I clicked on apply and save when I originally set the keys.....I have a HP Pavilion DV6700 Laptop with windows visa home premium which is about one month old.

After spending a lot of time trying to find a solution, here is the way I have solve the problem. Now the sidebar is just working fine. This behavior is observed if the XML registration is missing in the system. To fix the problem, use the following steps:

I'm wanting to put my computer in hibernate and I click on the start menue but the option is no longer there. I have the option to sleep, shut down, lock and so on but no longer have hibernate. Whats up with that ? Does anyone have a clue?

I have evn tried phoneing Microsoft but they want $80.00. 2 - Crap starts happening right after. what crap? Some programs such as tuneup utillites,psp video converter cannot work. Programs that can speed up the system such as programs (that disable some programs to start during pc startup) CRASH now.

THEN??when try to turn it on under windows security center,it says " dont have permission to perfrom action,pls contact administrator" (simpified msg)tried ticking it under user account option,keeps unticking again2. tried do registry method using regedit, cannot also. that leads me to create admin account to turn on UAC. As the title suggests its about the mouse, I have always had my mouse setup so that I left double-click to get to anything, but although mice have a very long lifespan, and this is mainly why I am posting this (before I get my G9 mouse) I wondered what you all would recommend to prolong the mouse life even more, do any of you use just one click or are you all double-clickers like myself? what would you recommend single or double?
I just don't want to knacker the mouse out too quickly, bearing in mind that it gets used alot in games too and as its recommended for Crysis etc......I am going to be hammering that left mouse button to death
I know I can use my Xbox 360 controller for windows and have been, but as this piece of kit is suggested for Crysis and other games I am going to be using it instead.
After downloading the last ultimate update the dreamscene option in the background menu disapeared. The option doesnt't exist anymore I have searched this site for the past 4 hours and can't find a solution or for that matter anyone else who has a similar problem.

One option I did hear about is buying a computer with VISTA installed and with the option of downgrading (free) to Windows XP Pro.
The file Send E-Mail option is not present from the Office Button in Excel, is not available from the Office Button in Word, and is present and functional from the Office Button in PowerPoint. I use Windows Vista Home Premium Edition, Windows Mail and the MS-Office Home & Student 2007 suite.

If I try and open the file, it says, unable to open, wrong kind of file. I saw someone elses post that said to go into start, all programs, accesories, run. View 7 Replies View RelatedSuddenly, my computer freezed (just like it has been doing for some time now). When I restarted it, the computer asked for the Vista DVD, so that it could repair some files (I couldn't even boot into Safe Mode). I put the DVD inside the drive, and choose the "Repair your computer" option, but it reports that no Vista installation is found...
I then boot into the Rescue and Recovery environment (that is a Thinkpad suite, located in another partition of the disk) to see what's going on. The System Information detects everything except the Hard Drive (it reports "Not Available" for the fields "Hard disk free space" and "Hard disk capacity"). I also can't see the harddisk in the option to backup the files to a pen (the pen is recognized, though). Just to be sure, I run PC Doctor and my hard disk passes all tests.
I'm new to the Forum so I hope I'm doing this correctly. Anyway, initially I was trying to create a mailing group, but could not see a choice for that option in my Contacts folder. Turns out it was set on "Pictures and Videos" and I read, in this Forum, how to fix that so it would show my list of contacts, and would therefore show the choice for setting up a group. That worked fine. My problem is - my changes don't seem to want to stay! For instance, today I was working in my picture folders, and then when I went back into Windows Mail and clicked on Contacts, it was back to showing "Pictures and Videos!" Why won't it stay on Contacts after I configure the folder? I do click "Apply" and then "OK," but that doesn't seem to make a difference. It keeps changing back.
View 5 Replies View RelatedIn an effort to speed up my start up time I downloaded instructions from Microsoft's download site. One option used Windows Defender. I tried that. It changed nothing. I then tried an option using msconfig. I unchecked certain programs leaving my Anti Virus and Microsoft Operating programs. After a restart nothing had changed. The desktop still had the same icons. Maybe there is something I don't understand about start up programs. Has anyone any comments on this matter.

My confusion lies in whether or not I should create a partition and copy the files to it, and boot from there (if that is even possible), or if I can just run the utility program from my desktop.
