Can't Send Emails: The Connection To The Server Was Interrupted

After years of slogging along with an age old laptop (Windows XP and MS Office xp Professional) I bought two new computers running Vista Home Premium and one (Asus netbook) running XP. Result: netbook can use the same Outlook settings as previously, but the other two, using the same XP settings will let me send Emails (to myself and elsewhere) but the Vista machines absolutely refuse to send mails to anywhere. Any one had similar experiences? The error message was: Task 'mail.navigate.de - Sending' reported error (0x800CCC0F): 'The connection to the server was interrupted. If this problem continues, contact your server administrator or Internet service provider (ISP).'

I'm experiencing a similar issue to a number of people on this forum where I am unable to send emails on my Vista Home Windows Mail. I have followed the advice shown to others and so far have: Downloaded the patch 941090 from Microsoft (32 Bit) Turned off email Scanners on Norton Antivirus Changed the Outgoing Mail Port to 80,

I've been having trouble connecting to only one website the past few weeks on IE and firefox. This is the message I get on Firefox ...."Connection Interrupted. I just set up my Windows Vista Mail so it retrieves the emails from our website. Previously I was using the webmail. I did it all with the help of Fasthosts Support over the phone and it downloaded 14 messages fine.

But since then when I Send/ Receive All it gives this message:
