I don't know why I am having this problem. It started today for some reason and I've never experienced it before. No changes have been made to any of my email accounts or the discussion groups account. No changes have been made to my AV program. I use the standard, native Windows firewall. I'm still using Vista x86 and again, no changes have been made. I am currently posting this via the web interface. Everything was working fine until I posted a reply and then the newsgroup server would not connect again. Below is a screenshot of the error message window.

I have been on the phone with my service provider and they have checked everything on their end and said that it is a problem with Microsoft. I am using Gmail with Windows Mail and can receive messages. However, when I compose messages in Windows Mail, they sit in the Out Box with the "Connection to server has failed" message. This is a brand new set-up. How do I adjust settings and to which setting?
I just set up my Windows Vista Mail so it retrieves the emails from our website. Previously I was using the webmail. I did it all with the help of Fasthosts Support over the phone and it downloaded 14 messages fine.
But since then when I Send/ Receive All it gives this message:
The connection to the server has failed. Subject 'Fasthost windows mail info', Account: 'mail.concrete-publishing.com', Server:
Fasthosts say it may have to do with McAfee firewall? I'm reluctant to shut it down because it opens me to bad stuff should I continue using the Fasthosts Webmail and forget about Windows?

A previously functioning Windows mail account now won't send mail. I've tried fixes suggested in the help screens by opening properties, changing authentication, etc. Nothing has worked. Here's the error message. Means absolutely nothing to me. The connection to the server has failed. Subject 'test', Account: 'pop.comcast.net', Server: 'smtp.comcast.net', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10060, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E Could it be related to Comcast's changeover?
