I now have a brand new HP m9100z and can not get email to work at all. My other machine is an HP s3123w aka "slimline". Both run windows vista home premium. On the slimline, email works just fine. On the new machine, nadda. Zip, zero. Can not get email to work using any client I have.
Thunderbird, windows mail, forte agent, all say "login failed". Even though both machines are setup exactly the same. The difference in the two machines is that the new one now has a wifi card and dual ntsc tuners. My domain works fine through browsers so I can get email through the website. Just can't do it on this machine. So what tricks can I try to get email to work?

View 6 Replies View RelatedI am having a real hard time getting this i am now downloading windows live because i guess i can no longer use my hotmail account...what is this i also have a notebook that has windows xp it seemed to take everything but then says that can not acccess my account i have tried reduing it numorous times do i need to download this windows live to that also...I just want to be able to go to places like craigslist and click reply and not have to paste and copy all the time just to respond...but this is really difficult to set up this feature that is suppose to be a perk with my computers?

View 4 Replies View RelatedAnybody notice how if you put URLs in HTML emails, they don't work? The HTML code adds a lot of alphanumeric stuff in front of the URL so it can't be located. I don't recall this problem prior to Vista Mail. So, if I want to be sure they'll work I'll have to turn off the HTML. Or, I'll save it as a draft then see if the URLS work- if they work in the draft folder, they'll usually work OK.

I have Vista on my new computer and my husband recently added a signature to his email file at work with a logo. I can no longer see his text in the emails he sends to me. I also cannot type anything in the email created when replying to these messages. I should note that he has Vista at work also on some of their computers including the one he uses and he has none of these issues. Is there a setting I need to change? I've searched the internet along with this site for a solution and haven't seen this particular problem. If need be I can send the email property details to show you. When I got to properties of the email and show the details, it shows the message included in 'part 1' of the message.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have just transferred from a Windows XP PC using Outlook Express 6 to Vista PC with Windows Mail. I successfully migrated one email account and it works fine. On a second account I get the windows security box asking for username and password and even when I enter them correctly I get the box again. When I cancel I get the following error message:
Account: 'Estradia general', Server: '127.0.0.1', Protocol: POP3, Server Response: '-ERR unknown user name or bad password', Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 0x800CCC90, Error Number: 0x800CCC91. However the username and password are correct, and the account does send and receive emails OK. The account is located with the same ISP as the fully functioning account. I have checked that all the settings etc for the caccount are correct, and have tried manually inputting them with same effect.
In Outlook Express I could do the following to extract music from an Email but it doesn't work in Windows Mail: Click Tools>Options>Send, Change settings to Plain Text for sending, Click Apply, then OK, then highlight the message and click Forward and the attached music file should appear just below the Subject line where you can then click File/Save Attachment.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have been wracking my brain for weeks now, trying to play C&C First Decade with Red Alert 2 Yuri's Revenge over the LAN, it will only run on IPX networking which I could setup with 2x XP machines, I have Vista Ultimate on my PC, and XP on another, I found some drivers for IPX to work on Vista, didn't work ... So I loaded Hamachi which had built-in IPX support. Now when I open RA2, it no longer says IPX unavailable, it shows 00 00 00...
So it can see my Hamachi adapter with IPX support, great! The other XP machine has Hamachi installed, and they are both VPN'd (Connected) on the same Hamachi Network. They don't see each other... The XP machine shows a few IPX networks, I have tried switching to them all, even put the Hamachi adapter and the LAN adapter to the top of the preferred networks list. This was sort-of a breeze with both XP, but with Vista it's looking to be a bit tricky. I have no firewalls running on either machine and I am pretty cluey when it comes to networking (TCP/IP that is).
Ive just bought some new headphones yet when i plug them in the sound still comes out of the speakers. I know the headphones do work because i use them with my mp3 player

Every time i delete and block the emails address i get another from another email address generated. Its obviously spyware, I have run AVG and spybot and it hasnt fixed the problem. I cant adjust my spam filters cause sometimes theres important emails which get IDd as SPAM by accident. Is there anyway to fix this?

However the folder for email is now on his desktop, and is called Old Email backup. I know that one of these days he is going to delete it and wonder where his email went. What is the default folder it should have created the email in? I will move it there.

Control panel default settings will not allow option to disable Windows Mail. (grayed out). Register Hotmail software says only Vista but I am using Vista. But if I do a select all the blank space turns blue as if something is there. When I get mail from ex. USAJobs, the entire body of the email is blank. Some others the text directing me to "having trouble viewing this email click here" and then it takes me to their website. I have the block pics box unchecked and I am running vista with PCTools Spyware doctor. Also email from friends and family the pictures show up with no problems. The only problem I am having is from commercial sites. And yes I even added them to my allow list.

Since then my email accounts started having problems. I can only receive email on one account. but was able to receive all email accounts one the main Desktop which is wired to the router. Now I have replaced this desktop with a new one it also runs Vista, and now the same thing has happened; I only receive email from one account. I tried deleting all accounts and set them all up again same problem. I have MS Office 2003 which has office outlook and it to does the same thing. I tried deleting accounts on both trying to single out the possibility of conflict, but still no luck.
