Everything works just fine on my new Vaio laptop running on Vista home premium, connecting to my wireless network TalkTalk (the router is Echolife HG520s), until the connection stops working but still says I'M CONNECTED PERFECTLY!
I thought it was a typical firewall problem so i tried with disabling Windows firewall and the mcafee security center but nothing seems to work except disabling the network hardware and enabling again.
I am running Vista Home Premium on my laptop. I have a Brother wifi printer (although it connects to the router with a wire). I have 2 desktops and my laptop that use the printer. The two desktops use the printer without a problem. My laptop only works during the period after I add the network printer. When I reboot, it will seem to print to the printer but it just gets stored in the printer queue and won't print it.
Telling the print queue to try again doesn't do anything. If I delete the printer from my laptop and add it again as a new printer, it works great until the next reboot. I have no other printers in my printer list, only the Brother. None of the desktops (one Vista Home Premium, one XP) have this problem.
If I let my computer sit for roughly 1 hour or more the mouse stops working and I have to restart the computer via the keyboard. I've tried reconnecting from the transceiver and switching the mouse on/off and pressing the reset button. None of these things seem to do the trick.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI've been having this issue ever since I bought my new tablet pc. I am connected wirelessly to a network here at work. I've never had an issue with any other computer before until this one. I'm using a Vista 64 ultimate and this is my issue. I connect to the wireless network... I can browse the internet just fine. I have a shortcut on my desktop \192.168.1.200location Once I click on that it ask me for my user id and password so I enter and I then get to the network folder. After a few seconds it says Not Responding and I can no longer connect to the network or the internet although I can ping all internet addresses just fine. Disconnecting from the wireless and reconneting does not work... Disabling and reenabling doesn't work either. I have to shut down the pc and restart for it to come back up.

View 4 Replies View Relatedall of a sudden my wireless connection stopped working, so i did a system restore and it started working again, then it made the updates, and it stopped working again, the system restore worked twice and then after the updates, not working again, this time more permanent, when the computer starts it tells me that the bluetooth is on, but no existence of the wlan, the driver doesn't even show up on the device manager.
Then after some time my computer became stuck it didn't respond (this due to a different issue) so I decided to force the computer to turn off, when it restarted i had a wireless conection, then I turned off the computer and when I turned it back on no internet again, then I decided to try the force turn off again, and again I had internet. also if i have the internet working and i close my computer the internet stops working as well
I Am running a 64x vista os and I've installed a linksys PCI adapter into it. well the problem is that i have connection to the internet, but the connection just keeps identifying, normally i would mind, but recently i've notice that all online games lags (not like once every five minutes, almost constantly). I'm sure that the computer can cut the setting, and my connection is 10/10 mbit so ain't that either.
View 5 Replies View Relatedi've spent the whole day trying to set up a wireless connection between a laptop running vista and a printer connected to a print server on a wireless router....The printer is connected to the USB port on the wireless router (and the wireless connection to the printer works fine with my old xp laptop :rolleyes. The printer worked fine when plugged directly into the usb port on the vista laptop. So I set up a TCP/IP local port with the router's IP address (network print server, 1 printer) and assigned the printer to that port. It worked! - once. It printed a short document from notepad but sometime in the next few hours its status went to 'offline' and it has since refused to print anything else. Print jobs appear to spool to the printer, come up in the print monitor window, etc, but it doesn't print - neither tiny things from notepad nor multipage word docs.
SO far I have tried: rebooting everything lots of times; setting the printer to 'use printer online' in the admin prefs; disabling bidirectional support; disabling spooling (i.e. printing direct to printer - this just makes MS Word hang); making a persistent mapping of LPT1 to the printer w net use (a bit out of my depth there so hope I haven't stuffed anything up, i just got a bunch of system error 66's).
the internet in my house is ran of a router, every machine in my network including another laptop besides mine, a PlayStation 3, an ipod.. you get the picture, can connect too the internet except my laptop. my laptop shows that there is a internet connection and that it is connected too it as it shows me the two computer screens with the globe. i can connect to the internet for around 5-7 minutes, then it will the disconnect on my laptop only. i will not be able too browse sites, and it will tell me that i am connected local only, yet i can use applications like MSN? in order too fix this problem i need too turn my computer on and off, this will give me another 7 minutes of web browsing befor it happens again. i get this error message when i click repair on the network sign. cannont connect with microsoft.com(some ip) network diagnositcs pinged the remote host but did not recieve a response. reset the network wireless adapter "wireless connection" resetting the adapater can sometimes solve and intermittent problem reseting the network wireless connection does not help, i can get on msn still just not browse sites.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI was just wondering if anyone else had experienced these annoying freezes that occur randomly in Vista 64. It can happen while I'm playing a game, it can happen while I'm browsing firefox etc. I freeze up about 4 times a day and the only solution is a hard restart.
It is beyond me, I have the video card drivers up to snuff, all updates are installed, virus scanners/spyware scanners, video card isn't overheating, CPU idles at 33 loads at 42. I'll describe the problem a little better other than to just say it's freezing. When the freeze occurs, the entire screen stops moving, I cannot move my mouse, all sound stops working, and if there was a sound playing, it will get mutilated into a nasty buzz.
I recently upgraded my OS from Vista Home to Ultimate (a clean install). It seems as though after I have been using the internet for a while or if I am using too much bandwidth (downloading a few things or have a couple windows open) my wireless stops. I have access to the network - just the actual wireless internet stops. I can't use the diagnose feature by right-clicking as it never has a solution that actually fixes it - I've tried them all. We have several other computers in the house and they don't have problems with it - it also happens when I'm at work as well. When I attach the computer directly to the modem (even while this problem happens) the internet works fine.The only fix is restarting - but that's quite annoying and happening often. I have downloaded the newest drivers for this computer from HP (its a DV9200 CTO pn: EZ345AV) and I can't figure it out.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI have a new Dell computer running Vista Home Premium. My Brother printer prints fine when hooked up via USB. But won't print wirelessly through my router (Airport Express). The computer recognizes the printer wirelessly and has it as "ready." When I send something to print, it starts printing the first few lines and then just stops and won't print the rest. If I try again, nothing happens at all. I have to uninstall and reinstall the printer to get it to do anything. And even then, it won't print more than the first few lines of the document. Had no problems printing wirelessly with this printer and router on my old Dell that ran XP.

I updated the driver for the built in wireless card with out any results. I also tried a plug in wireless card which windows detected and said was working properly and this did not work either. This leaves me to believe that something is wrong with the OS. I can get on the internet via dialup modem and also by the ethernet connection with a DSL modem. I have been to several hotspots that I know have wifi and no networks show up. All critical windows updates have been installed.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI am having the worst problems connecting using a cable connection, which I need because as I am in Europe at the moment, many sites or private homes are not equipped with wireless. Now, when I connect with cable, everything seems to be working fine, the Toshiba connectivity doctor tells me I am connected, the diagnose program assures me that the problem has been resolved etc. etc. and yet whenever I try to connect (IE, Mozilla, Google, I have tried them all), I get an error screen. I have tried everything I could think of, checking my settings etc. Nothing works.
Let me emphasize that:
1) wireless connection works fine
2) it is a problem with my computer, not the host, since I have encountered
the same problem everywhere (libraries with password protected access,
private homes without password protected access etc.).
I have some Dell laptops (d830, d620, d630) that has problems with the wireless networkcard (Intel Wireless 4965 AGN). Very often it stops to function after the computer has been to sleep. The wireless icon still apears in the bottom right corner with a red cross over it. When you click it it says that it's connected with limited access. The wireless card will not apear when you run ipconfig If you disconnect it will not connect successfully again It seems like it manages to find all availble networks, but you can not connect successfully to any of them.
I have tried to install this fix reagardless that I already have SP1, but this won't install. Probley because it has already been applied. Also tried the Regedit workaround mentioned in the KB. I have set the power option to high preformance, but it still happends when the computer is manual set to sleep.
With Vista, I can get internet for my new Dell XPS laptop over the wireless connection without doing anything other than selecting the connection. No user name or password is needed. But to plug in directly into my cable modem, it does not work. Seems to require user name and password. But I use Verizon and a Motorola SB5101 modem and while it is broadband, I did not think it is pppoe. I don't even know of any user name or password for my account. Am I wrong, is all broadband pppoe? My internet connection works just fine without asking for pppoe login info when I use my desktop with Windows XP. So, it seems to Vista specific problem.

I get "IE8 stops working" messages whenever I open a second tab, this problem started after enabling "Google Chrome Frame" Add-on. I like to keep this Add-on as it makes IE8 faster, I would appreciate any workarounds to resolve this, I have attached some info from event viewer.

I believe that suggests that i reinstall my nvidia drivers, which i did, but it didnt work.

Before the format everything worked perfect but i was having pop up problems and i think i had a virus of some sort.

I am on windows vista sp1 home premium, and I often get a problem saying rundll32 has stopped working. I googled and found out that this is often caused due to nero's codecs which interfere with vista, but I have neither nero nor roxio installed, except that I use the latest version of vista codec pack. I just checked out by disabling startup services in msconfig and rebooting each time, but it's all the same every time, the problem just keeps repeating. I often get the problem on resuming from standby.

I have a new Asus Laptop with Vista. Windows Mail has never worked right. After startup it only works for a period of time. (Anywhere from 5 minutes to 1 hour) It then just shows the following error messages. It also will not send an email until I restart my computer. It always works after a startup. I have Zone Alarm, but it acted this way before I loaded it. Is there a setting that should be changed? My internet connection is a Sprint Mifi. This is quite frustrating. I was able to load previous contacts from Outlook express without problems.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI've been having a problem with my vista where it stops working after about 20-30 minutes of idling. Everything functions until I bring it out of idle and issue a command (like start playing a song) then everything just hangs. Even the time stops working. I've been into the power settings and changed it so everything stays on. The hard drive stays working and the monitors keep running, no screen saver or anything.
I've since updated the graphics driver and moved vista over to SP2, also I've done a virus scan. My system restore dates are unable to take me back to a time when i didn't have this problem (about a week ago). So, to my knowledge, it isn't a hardware problem and It's not a virus, leading me to believe vista has vista'd itself somewhere along the line. Does anyone know how to fix this, or any other steps I should take?
Symptom: IE 7 crashes or encounters a webpage it doesn't like (certain ebay webpages for instance). Wireless networking stops working (red X in network connection notification icon). Thereafter the ONLY way to get Vista to see any networks is to reboot. FPITA. Refresh wireless network list does NOT work. If IE7 doesn't encounter a webpage it doesn't like, can stay connected to my wireless network all day long.

If I pull out the USB plug and put it back in to reset it my keyboard starts working again. I've updated the latest driver on the IBM website but still have the problem.

Also, when this happens, new windows that open automatically from the webpage or new tabs in the window do not load anything at all. Only IE suffers from this malady--all other programs function as they should. The only fix I have found for this is to perform a system restore. This fixes the problem temporarily, but after repeated use, IE does the same thing over again. I've restored my system dozens of times now, with no end in sight. Possible solutions?

I got a new laptot with Windows Vista Home Premium SP1 (32bit)... sometimes and randomly happens that the Start Menu stops working! The Menu opens and shows program icons and all the rest, but I can't launch any program anymore!!! Left or right clicking on icons just make the start menu to close.
