Every once in a while when I try and send an email the message is lost and Windows Mal stops working and then restarts. Now I have to save all my messages in Microsoft Word before I send any email on Windows Mail in case this happens!
I've been seeing a consistent problem with Windows Mail lately, the version for 64-bit Vista Home Premium SP2. Whenever I try to enter a storage folder with 126891 unread news messages (mainly to divide up the contents of the folder), Windows Mail stops working correctly and offers me a chance to send in more information along with the bug report. When I enter a different folder with 73181 unread news messages, things are a little slow but otherwise normal. Some of the other problems I've seen on the same machine suggest that a collection of programs compiled to run in 32-bit mode cannot make full use of the 8 GB of memory this machine has; only the lowest 4 GB, all that 32-bit addresses can address directly. Is it true that Vista lacks the memory mapping needed to run 32-bit mode programs at addresses above the lowest 4 GB? Also, is is true that the version of Windows Mail that comes with 64-bit Vista has at least some part that must run in 32-bit mode?
When I have a set of BOINC programs running, with permission to use up to 4 GB of memory, it could easily come close to exhausting the lowest 4 GB of memory, since most of the BOINC workunit programs were compiled to run in 32-bit mode. However, neither BOINC nor Vista seems to offer any memory restrictions specific to the use of the lowest 4 GB. I've seen enough problems reported in the microsoft.public.windows.live.mail.desktop newsgroup with the Windows Live Mail user interface that I'm hesitant to consider switching to that program. In particular, some of the problem reports refer to functions controlled with buttons labelled only with symbols, not with words. Since I'm rather slow at learning the meaning of symbols not labelled with words, I want to avoid using any programs that use such symbols. Does the WLM program have the option of making labels of the symbols appear in words, perhaps only when the cursor is close enough to the symbol? Or, is there any other workaround for splitting up such a large folder of unread news messages?
The last (2) E-mails I was composing were lost when I hit: send. (No had not saved. Will begin). Message sid program stopped working-crashed. to correct?
When I try to paste anything into an email, Windows Mail stops working and closes down. Not sure if I have accidentally adjusted any setting recently. It also happens if I try to do the same when pasting to emails using Hotmail.
I was just wondering if anyone else had experienced these annoying freezes that occur randomly in Vista 64. It can happen while I'm playing a game, it can happen while I'm browsing firefox etc. I freeze up about 4 times a day and the only solution is a hard restart.
It is beyond me, I have the video card drivers up to snuff, all updates are installed, virus scanners/spyware scanners, video card isn't overheating, CPU idles at 33 loads at 42. I'll describe the problem a little better other than to just say it's freezing. When the freeze occurs, the entire screen stops moving, I cannot move my mouse, all sound stops working, and if there was a sound playing, it will get mutilated into a nasty buzz.
Symptom: IE 7 crashes or encounters a webpage it doesn't like (certain ebay webpages for instance). Wireless networking stops working (red X in network connection notification icon). Thereafter the ONLY way to get Vista to see any networks is to reboot. FPITA. Refresh wireless network list does NOT work. If IE7 doesn't encounter a webpage it doesn't like, can stay connected to my wireless network all day long.
my laptop screen stops working when login to windows (when in normal boot mode). So when i boot in safe mode it does work! also i don't know when it stop working in vista since i normally always work with my tv, you see and rarely switch back to my laptop screen. so what i have tried so far: reinstalled the VGA drivers fn+f3
apon using windows update, it froze around update 25, and windows modules installer stopped working. Now i have a issue with the windows licensing service, one second my windows is legit, the next it isnt, the next windows licensing stops working. I've tried to reinstall 5+ times now, on 2 different harddrives, and it does the same thing on both
Nice to meet u all! I am using vista home premium and when i right click on the wireless internet thing (the two computers with the red "x" or w/e) and click on "connect to a network" i get this windows explorer stopped working error... and when i try to click on "start" and then "connect to" it says that rundll32 has stopped working error... this is really frustrating...
Running Vista on an HP...When I get the pop up to compact the mail I click OK and it gets about 3 quarters of the way thru and I get the message Windows Mail has stopped working and Windows is searching for an answer. The answer was DEP (Data Execution Protection)was shutting it down to protect my computer..What's the problem??? Norton internet Security up to date and nothing found with complete system scan..Vista up to date as well.
I get "IE8 stops working" messages whenever I open a second tab, this problem started after enabling "Google Chrome Frame" Add-on. I like to keep this Add-on as it makes IE8 faster, I would appreciate any workarounds to resolve this, I have attached some info from event viewer.
Greetings, I just formatted my new computer and when i try to play a dvd with WMP it loads the dvd and goes to a black screen and thinks for a moment, then a windows box pops up and says that WMP has stoped working,"we will look for a solution to this problem"
"This problem was caused by *NVIDIA nForce Networking Controller*,which was created by *NVidia*.
A newer version of this product is available that might solve this problem."
I believe that suggests that i reinstall my nvidia drivers, which i did, but it didnt work.
I have no codec packs installed either
Before the format everything worked perfect but i was having pop up problems and i think i had a virus of some sort.

I am on windows vista sp1 home premium, and I often get a problem saying rundll32 has stopped working. I googled and found out that this is often caused due to nero's codecs which interfere with vista, but I have neither nero nor roxio installed, except that I use the latest version of vista codec pack. I just checked out by disabling startup services in msconfig and rebooting each time, but it's all the same every time, the problem just keeps repeating. I often get the problem on resuming from standby.
Can anybody recommend a solution? BTW, i am on an HP Pavilion dvt6846tx. Problem log from "Problem Reports and Solutions":Product Windows host process (Rundll32)
I have a new Asus Laptop with Vista. Windows Mail has never worked right. After startup it only works for a period of time. (Anywhere from 5 minutes to 1 hour) It then just shows the following error messages. It also will not send an email until I restart my computer. It always works after a startup. I have Zone Alarm, but it acted this way before I loaded it. Is there a setting that should be changed? My internet connection is a Sprint Mifi. This is quite frustrating. I was able to load previous contacts from Outlook express without problems.

after i over clock my card to a certain point the nvlddmkm stops working but after i put my card back down it starts to work again why is that?? Compaq Presario SR5123WM Desktop PC*-* Product Specifications*
I've been having a problem with my vista where it stops working after about 20-30 minutes of idling. Everything functions until I bring it out of idle and issue a command (like start playing a song) then everything just hangs. Even the time stops working. I've been into the power settings and changed it so everything stays on. The hard drive stays working and the monitors keep running, no screen saver or anything.
I've since updated the graphics driver and moved vista over to SP2, also I've done a virus scan. My system restore dates are unable to take me back to a time when i didn't have this problem (about a week ago). So, to my knowledge, it isn't a hardware problem and It's not a virus, leading me to believe vista has vista'd itself somewhere along the line. Does anyone know how to fix this, or any other steps I should take?
I am running Vista Home Premium on my laptop. I have a Brother wifi printer (although it connects to the router with a wire). I have 2 desktops and my laptop that use the printer. The two desktops use the printer without a problem. My laptop only works during the period after I add the network printer. When I reboot, it will seem to print to the printer but it just gets stored in the printer queue and won't print it.
Telling the print queue to try again doesn't do anything. If I delete the printer from my laptop and add it again as a new printer, it works great until the next reboot. I have no other printers in my printer list, only the Brother. None of the desktops (one Vista Home Premium, one XP) have this problem.
I just converted to Vista Enterprise with and IBM laptop and docking station. I keep losing my external IBM keyboard, 3 or 4 times a day. If I pull out the USB plug and put it back in to reset it my keyboard starts working again. I've updated the latest driver on the IBM website but still have the problem.
Everything works just fine on my new Vaio laptop running on Vista home premium, connecting to my wireless network TalkTalk (the router is Echolife HG520s), until the connection stops working but still says I'M CONNECTED PERFECTLY!
I thought it was a typical firewall problem so i tried with disabling Windows firewall and the mcafee security center but nothing seems to work except disabling the network hardware and enabling again.
When I'm working in Internet Explorer, the right mouse button will randomly stop working. Also, when this happens, new windows that open automatically from the webpage or new tabs in the window do not load anything at all. Only IE suffers from this malady--all other programs function as they should. The only fix I have found for this is to perform a system restore. This fixes the problem temporarily, but after repeated use, IE does the same thing over again. I've restored my system dozens of times now, with no end in sight. Possible solutions?
Everytime i try to publish a movie that i have created, movie maker stops working. Please forgive me as im not particularly tech savvy. Here is the problem report;

I got a new laptot with Windows Vista Home Premium SP1 (32bit)... sometimes and randomly happens that the Start Menu stops working! The Menu opens and shows program icons and all the rest, but I can't launch any program anymore!!! Left or right clicking on icons just make the start menu to close. Icons on desktop (and those on the tray)fortunatly keep on working, but I have to terminate explorer.exe and then restart it to reset start menu working fine! What could it be?
When I start HoMM everything is okay until i start a game either in multi player or single player. It begins to load and when it is done and about to begin a game it says. "This program has stopped working Windows will notify you if there is a solution".
when I login to the one I use most of the time, I notice that Firefox wont work, there is no error, actually, it starts but nothing happens, its just blank, it says "Done" in the bottom left corner, but it is nothing in the Firefox window. And when I close FF I get a error;
"Firefox has stopped working 1.Check online for a solution and close the program 2.Close the program"
If I chose the 1st option I get this message "The exception enknown software exception (0xc0000005) occurred in the application at location 0x02ff8cf0. Click on OK to terminate the program." Then I tried IE (32x), same thing there, so I try IE 64x, it worked. Also I tried to restart my switch, ping some webpages, release / renew IP. There was no difference. I also tried System Restore, but I could only restore to about 15 minutes back in time, wich was when I turned on my comuter today.
Then I tried to start some games to see if it worked, first Peggle Deluxe, that worked fine. Then WoW, that did not work fine at all. The first thing that is wrong is that when I start WoW the launcher says "Cannot connect to the News Server. Please check the network and try again later." I pressed play anyways, just to see what happens, and what happens is that the screen turns dark, Winamp is still playing music, but no sound from WoW, and alt + tab doesnt work, same with the windows button or alt+ f4. but ctrl+alt+del works. so I was able to close the program, it wasnt responding either ofc..................
I have Windows Vista Ultimate 64-bit and a NetGear WG311v3 wireless card installed into a PCI slot.
Whenever I start up Windows and browse the Internet, the connection seems just fine.
However, after an undetermined amount of time (or perhaps triggered by a certain amount of data I've downloaded), the connection cuts off. I then look in Device Manager and see the yellow warning symbol next to my wireless driver. When I look further, it says "This device cannot start (code 10)". Nothing I do seems to work, except restarting my computer. ANd when I do, I have to manually connect to the wireless network again.
There is no password on the router, and all the other desktops and laptops in the house connect to the router just fine without any connection problems after any amount of time or data.
I have tried re-installing the drivers (even by uninstalling, shutting down, removing hardware, booting up, installing drivers, shutting down, re-inserting hardware, booting up) but it still does the same thing.
There may be a conflict somewhere with other hardware, but I cannot for the life of me figure out what it may be. I have even tried installing the Marvell chipset driver instead of the NetGear driver, but it still does the same time-out problem.
I can stay connected for hours if I don't do any heavy downloading (just surfing and reading), but once I start downloading large files, the connection drops and I have to reboot again, which is a huge pain because the files I download can be quite large and I have to start from the beginning after I reboot.
My Dell 8400 had XP. We upgraded to Vista a month ago. No problems with the wireless network card. (Netgear WG311 v.3)
HOWEVER - we decided to purchase more RAM for the pc. We called Dell to purchase the RAM so it would be compatible. We had two 512MB cards in dual slots. We ordered two 1GB cards to place in the remaining dual slots. That gives us 3GB of RAM. Vista maxes out at 4MB according to what was sent to me by NetGear.
The problem is that if we use all four slots, the network card stops working. If we use two 1GB cards in dual slots, the network card works fine. If we use all four slots, the network card stops working. We changed the cards around so the 1GB cards were in one set and the 512MB cards in another set. We had them paired each time, so that was not the problem.
We ordered two more 1GB cards with the thought that because the four we had were not quadruplets, that might be the problem. It isn't. Dell took back the extra RAM.
Dell support blames the problem on NetGear. NetGear blames the problem on Vista. The technician at NetGear sent me a kb of Vista limits for RAM. When I replied that we hadn't maxed out on RAM, I got an email that the email I sent in reply couldn't be delivered.
I am experiencing lightscribe problems, I have recently had a new hard drive fitted by H.P and when the laptop came back it was perfect for a week. Then when I go to label a disc the lightsribe program just freezes and stops working I have tried uninstalling the program and reinstalling it but it is still the same. I have also tried another labelling program that is on my laptop but this does the same thing.
i just bought bioshock for PC a new copy and for some reason every single time i try installing it it asks me for permision for setup.exe to run it and then setup.exe just stops working. I dont know what to do i mean i have all the minimum requirements i just dont know what to do.
If I let my computer sit for roughly 1 hour or more the mouse stops working and I have to restart the computer via the keyboard. I've tried reconnecting from the transceiver and switching the mouse on/off and pressing the reset button. None of these things seem to do the trick.
Will Windows Easy Transfer work with only XP? I'm getting a new laptop before my old one stops working and I don't want to move to Vista. I just want to move XP pro to XP pro.
