"Windows Cannot Change The Password"?
Nov 30, 2008I'm trying to set a password for my user account, but every time I enter it and hit the "create password" button, an error message pops up saying "Windows cannot change the password".

Change Password And Windows Live Won
Jun 11, 2008I am using windows live and need to change my password. I know how to do it but when i go to properties and servers and change it, it doesn't work. I still can only log in with the old password. Someone else has access to my emails so just locking my computer is not an option because they can access my emails from their computer. So annoying! Outlook express was so much better than live mail.

May 1, 2008Our network is 2003 AD with XP clients and about 120 vista enterprise machines. When you try to change your domain password on a vista box is tells you the username or password are incorrect, doing the same on XP machine is fine. We have another seperate 2003 AD network using the same Vista image, here we have no problem. Everyone group would appear to have change password permissions, like I say all on XP is fine but not Vista on this AD. We have update to SP1 on Vista, no change and Group Policy looks fine.

Dec 4, 2009ComputerA, running Windows XP 32-bit has a shared folder in read-only mode called SFiles with a sign-on of CAShare and a password of ZXJK1122. ComputerB, running Windows Vista 64, in the Network entry of Windows Explorer shows ComputerA. When I expand ComputerA I can see the SFiles shared folder undereath and when I try to click on the folder it asks me for a sign-on and password. I answer with CAShare and ZXJK1122, and it asks me if I want to save this information and I say yes. Subsequently, when I click on the SFiles shared folder it gives me read-only access to the files in the shared folder. This works excellently.
Subsequently, on ComputerA, I decide to change the password for the sign-on of CAShare from ZXJK1122 to NPPP345T. Now on ComputerB when I try to click on the SFiles shared folder in Windows Explorer I get a message of: "Windows can not access \ComputerASFiles with an error code of Ox80070005, Acces is denied."
That's fair enough, since I changed the password for the sign-on. So I want Windows Explorer on ComputerB to ask me for a new password, and I will reply NPPP345T and now have read-only access again which is fine. But it does not do this but repeatedly denies me access each time I click on the shared folder. Surely there must be some way to tell Window Explorer to get a new password from me for this share. How do I do that ? It seems impossible that Vista will keep me from accessing shared folders of another computer on my network simply because it has decided that I can not change the signon/password to the other computer's shares.

May 17, 2008At the completion of running a game in MSTS after closing I end up with a completely blank screen and the only way I can exit this screen is to press Crtl+Alt+Delete which then returns me to the opening screen displaying "log off" "change password" etc. Anyone else having the same problem. Oct 31, 2009I have Vista Home Premium on an Acer Laptop and all was fine until I decided to change my user password. I had or have (who knows now at this stage) an Administrator,User and HDD password installed on my machine. I went into my setup and changed my user password from set to clear but left my other passwords at set. when I exited and saved changes and rebooted I could not get back in with any and all passwords. To make things worse I cannot boot from cd either. It goes to press <F2> go to setup , Enter Current Password: ? then Invalad password I have tried the F10, F12, Del, F5, F8 keys and nothing seems to get past that login screen. Does anyone have any inexpensive suggestions on how I can get into this computer, or how I can get to a command prompt. Can I un-solder the internal Battery and then re attach it.

Apr 26, 2008I've got a problem whereby when I try to access mail using Windows Mail, the programme pops up a window (entitled Windows Security) which asks for my user name and password... but it doesn't accept these when I enter them. Windows Mail had been working OK up until this started to happen yesterday. I have tried clicking tools, then accounts then properties and then re-entering the correct password and user name (ie the password and user name that I use to access the Internet... which, incidentally, still works OK for
Internet access)... but it still doesn't accept them. Everytime I try to send or receive email and enter the password and user name in the Windows Security window ... the window appears again and asks for them again.
Main Password On Windows
May 24, 2008My daughter has forgotten her password for her laptop. She has Windows Vista.When you turn on her laptop it comes up asking for a password straight away, this is the one that she's forgotten.
I thought that I could make a reset password disc from a friends computer who has Vista, but this doesn't work.
It allows me to put in a new password and question hint, but when I click next it comes up with 'an error occured while wizard was attempting to set the password for this user account'. Is this because I've copied it from another computer?
I can change her password as I don't really want to do a system restore as she has all her homework and pictures on there and don't want her to loose it.

After restarting, however, it wouldn't accept the password! There's only my account and a disabled guest account, and I use the password for some of my online accounts, so I know I got the password right. I got back into Windows by using the password reset on my USB-stick, but it's weird... and it gets better! Today I locked the account while I was in the library, and when I got back I couldn't log back in! Switching users, however, and then logging in with the locked account worked... so password and user account are fine, it just doesn't always get accepted.

Microsoft has a longstanding history of adding useless bells and whistles to programs, so I commend them for making Windows Mail more simple to use, but in this case, it would have been wonderful had they given the user an option to password protect program usage and entry WITHIN the same user profile

When I push the icon to send and receive a windows security message box pops up and asks me for my username and password.I don't have one.I have never had one.I have used the same antivirus for years.I have email scanning turned off in the antivirus software.When I right click on the box I don't get anything except options to move or close.
