Windows Mail Not Allow MIDI Files
Apr 8, 2009Windows Mail will either 1) not allow MIDI files to be inserted into a new message, or 2) not allow MIDI files to be PLAYED. I don't know which it is.

Mar 9, 2009Windows mail keeps trying to compact the the files when I close the program.It keeps trying and I get errors. How is this fixed? It's the most annoying thing as it doesn't quit, if I click OK - I get another error. How do I get it to compact the news/mail files? Never had this problem with OE I used this to compact and repair the database - it said it compressed it, but did not. WMail is still trying to compess the data base every time I close the program. How is this fixed once and for all? I'm also getting a little window pop up from the bottom bar saying "Data Execution Prevention closed Windows?" What the hell is "Data Execution Prevention?"

Cannot Open Pdf Files In Windows Mail
Oct 2, 2009This problem started last night. I cannot open pdf attachments in WM. When I try it says "this file does not have a program associated with itfor performing this action. Create an association in the Set Associations control panel." This is at the top of the alert message: C:UsersStocksAppDataLocalMicrosoftWindowsTemporary Internet FilesContent.IE5 I've navigated there, and don't see anything except an index.dat file...nothing else at all. I've also tried the fix listed ere: 'Unable to open .PDF attachments from Windows Mail' with no luck. I have Adobe Reader 9.1 and am running Vista Home Basic 32bit, Service Pack 1.

Feb 17, 2009I am using Vista Home Premium and Windows Mail 6.0 (brand new computer, and I am not used to Vista and Windows Mail). I have sorted out most issues, but run into problems when I try to send an email with an attachment. I find the Word-doc on my disk and attach it correctly, but when I press send, Mail complains that it can't find the document. This is a stand-alone PC with my user as the only user, and with all admin privs. I have turned off the annoying feature of UAC. I have also installed MS Office 2007 Home, and from a word-doc, I can't send the doc to Mail (this option is greyed out).

Oct 6, 2009What, if any, inferences can be drawn from the fact that there are typically three times more posts about Windows Mail (WM) than Windows Live Mail (WLM). Could it be that:
(a) WM is more troublesome than WLM (in view of the greater complexity of WLM this seems improbable)?
(b) Many more people use WM (seems probable - I wonder what the figures are)?
(c) A higher proportion of technically savvy users are likely to be early adopters of Windows 7 who have to find an alternative to WM. Some then migrate to a non-Microsoft email client such as Thunderbird, while those that try WLM find they can master it with few problems (plausible)?
My feeling is that there seem to be an awful lot of folk hanging on to WM and that they might be put off updating to Windows 7 because neither WM (nor Outlook Express) will not be available (at least not in a securely supported version) to run on it. I am cross-posting this to both newsgroups and suggest that replies go to WM as it has the larger following.
