View 1 Replies View RelatedVery frustrating week as my internet connection is not working properly, and worse not even consistent. Either my connection seems normal or the link up then down alternating for hours. I'm running Vista 32 Using either my speedtouch 536v6 or Belkin G wireless router to access. Problem occurs with either. Have used filtered dsl line or not. Problem occurs with either. Have shut my comp. off. Problem occurs with either. ISP have visited twice, check the line, shrugged their shoulders and closed the ticket. And worse of all not consistent, so it's hard to locate the problem. It connection will work fine for an hour (like right now) then just stop working. I have reset both modem, reset user setting, obtained new ip, etc, etc.
View 9 Replies View RelatedEverytime i go to send a email to someone threw a link it doesnt let me, I get this message, windows mail could not be started because your computer is low on system resources. Most likely the problem is your computer is low on memory or is unstable.... I dont understand? This is a new comp and I have mcafee as a virus protection.

I'd like to be able to send a link in email and have them all just click and go to the site - or - just have a download start. The extent of my http knowledge stops with setting up the site and paying he bill.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI can't link up my XP to my Vista Home Premium computer. All service packs installed. Each computer can see the other but I can't access the XP's shared folder. I am using cross over USB cable and have installed drivers for same. I get message trying to access my XP from my Vista pc - "folder is not accessible. You may not have permission to use this network resource." "Not enough server storage to process this command". I have granted access on the XP to share this folder. Is there a simple, 1,2,3 step by step process to ensure that I have met all necessary criteria to make a pc to pc connection?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI had successfully setup a network of a desktop running Vista and two laptops running XP. One of the laptops "died" and we replaced it with another running Vista.
Try as I might, following all the instructions I can find, I cannot link this new laptop. Should I just abandon the old network and start fresh?
Few days back, I was installing/uninstalling some programs. I don't know what went wrong, but I found the links in "Computer" are not working. When I open "My Computer" ("Computer" in Vista), all the links like "Device Manager", "Remote Settings" etc are not working. It says for "Device Manager" - "Windows cannot find '%SystemRoot%\system32devmgmt.msc". However, if I run the same command from a DOS window, it exists. This is same for all the other links.
My sound icon in the task bar is also marked a permanent red cross. If I open Volume Mixer, it says - No audio device found. But I can still hear sound.
I have always been able to hit a link in an email and get to another email from that link. Now I can't. Has something been corrupted or changed in my windows mail? I have gone to tools and don't see anything that pertains.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI just installed Vista SP1 and am convinced that my never before seen printing problem is due to SP1 (can no longer print anything on my HP psc 1350v All-In-One printer). There are no driver updates available from HP so it would appear that backing out SP1 (or a buying new printer) are my only options. Can someone supply a link to the process for uninstalling SP1

View 5 Replies View Relatedwhen I included (using copy/paste) a link in Outlook Express, using Windows XP and I sent this mail to somebody, they never complaint that they could not open the link. Ever since I use Vista and Windows Mail, people tell me that the link does not work. Either nothing happens when they click on the link or the error msg is that the link is out-of-date (Often I copy & paste the info from a message I have sitting in Draft, since I sent standard msgs to my customers).
View 6 Replies View RelatedI see all these USB link cabled on eBay and most say they're not compatible with Vista. Why? What is the big deal? The reason I'm asking is part of my job is to retrieve databases off clients' machines and sometimes I can't tear it down and pull the drive. In that case I have to screw around with jump drives - etc. With the size of these files I need a backup plan - link two machines and pull the data off via a cable. So, why no Vista?
View 7 Replies View RelatedMy delimma as of right now is w/ the Wireless Card and Vista (I guess). I downloaded the x64 drivers for the card, the mobo, and the Video Card - All installed fine. The wireless card installed fine but when I connect to any network (not just my own) Vista Locks up completely. The card finds the networks ok but locks when a connection is attempted. The router I use is also D-Link Extreme N. One time I did get IE to open and display a web page before Vista locked. I am stumped as to how to remedy this. As I said I am new to Vista (and x64).

View 9 Replies View RelatedI just downloaded an .exe file fromt the internet and saved it to my harddrive. But I must've done something wrong in the process because when I check the location I saved it to, it shows a shortcut (.lnk) that won't do a thing if I double click on it. Is there a way to change the extension back to .exe so I can run it (it's an install program)? I've already scouted the forums and noticed you can do something with your regs, but I'm afraid that will affect other files on my computer and I'm only having problems with this particular file.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a stupid amount of MP3's so I store them in my slave drive which is a lot bigger than the main drive. The question I asked myself is can I link the Music link to the MP3 folder in the D drive which was easily done with the properties by right clicking the Music and altering the location of the folder.
So now when I hover over the music in the start menu it shows a long list of MP3’s which I don’t mind. The thing that is annoying is that if I click the Music link it doesn’t go to the folder like the others in the start menu i.e. Document & Pictures. I have to right click then click open. I bet the first thing you think is what a lazy bas!$rd lol? It’s Just weird the fact it doesn’t work the same way as the other links in the start menu. Another thing I would like to do is rename the Music link if that is possible?
I have been troubleshooting this problem for about a week with no success. I have a Westell DSL modem with a static IP from ATT running in bridged mode to a D-Link DGL-4100 Router running in PPoE mode into a Netgear JGS-524 24 port switch. Connected to the 24 port switch are 3 XBOX 360's and 5 PC's. Four PC's are running Vista 64 Ultimate and one is running Vista Home 32 bit. All PC's and XBOX 360 units have Static IP's.
Many times a day my network loses the internet connection at all 360 units and all PC's. When I diagnose the Vista Network connection it says cannot find the DNS server and mentions this is a problem Vista cannot repair. All settings are entered manually on all equipment including the DNS settings. If I go into the D-Link router settings and look at the status it shows a working internet connection.
To get the internet working again, I disconnect the internet connection through the router settings, wait a few seconds, then reconnect to the internet. Once it shows connected I go back and Diagnose the network connection in Vista again. This time it will not say cannot find DNS server, It will now say no problem found and give me the option to reset the network connection. Once I reset the network connection, I will get my internet back.......
Dell wants to charge me $100.00 to fix this issue. I am unemployed and trying to save every penny. Does anybody know how to combine gmail with windows mail.
View 5 Replies View RelatedMany programs have links embedded to allow an internet address to be opened e.g. a clickable button to open Internet Explorer (or other browser) and go to the program writer's site, or a button to look for updates. I've only just realised after a couple of months with Vista, that these don't work any more
