I am a Vista Home Premium 32-bit User.I am trying to open WMA files wit WMP11 and I get the "C00D11B1" error. When I looked up the error on the internet, it says that there is a problem with the sound driver, which is updated. I try to open the same file with VLC and no problem. When I try to open some WMV files I get an error as well.
View 6 RepliesLast week I bought a new Acer Aspire 6350 w/ Vista - My 1st Vista machine. After uninstalling all the Acer bloatware, I open the GUI defragger, it analyzes C: for 2 secs (doesn't even mention analyzing the other 2 partitions) then it says "your file system performance can be improved". I defrag it the C:, it takes 45 mins or so and done. I go to my wife's Dell Vista laptop and go to the GUI defragger. It analyzes all 3 of her partitions. Weird, mine only analyzed C: for 2 secs. I then go back to my new Acer and run the GUI degragmenter again. After a 2 sec C: analysis it says "your file system......." again. Then when I go the command line defrag, run "defrag c: -a" it says I don't need to defrag. Bottom line is the GUI defragmenter doesn't work on this new laptop. It doesn't scan all partitions, when started it runs for a bit, then it just stops and it goes back to saying " your file system performance can be improved".
View 9 Replies View Relatedi have a Saitek Cyborg Gaming keyboard and everything worked fine until i spilled some water on it. the keyboard STILL WORKS after i let it dry out. the problem is it doesnt work on MY computer. im pretty sure its a driver issue. ive uninstalled all drivers for the keyboard and reinstalled. still no work. tried system restore to when it did work. still doesnt work. *Also the keyboard has gaming keys which are programed and still work. but normal keys dont. so im confused

View 7 Replies View Relatedi have just purchased by new machine which came with vista ultimate 64bit SP1 pre installed. the bit locker will not work as there is no TPM found is says a TPM is required to turn on bitlocker. i know you can use a flash drive every time you start up the machine but i dont want to do that. Does anyone know how i can get a TPM or know a solution - i read something about upgrading the bios but i dont know what bios i have!

View 9 Replies View RelatedI unplug AC and USB devices in order to work outside my working station... After some time, when I replug the laptop to AC and replug the USB devices they don't work... No mouse, no printer, no smart card, no usb at all. Also I can't restart the computer as it freezes, so I have to shut it down "violently". I noticed that this always occurs when the battery is under 50 %. But sometimes it happens even at higher percentages. I've installed sp2, I've disabled the USB selective suspend both in power options and in registry.
View 9 Replies View Relatedjust changed motherboard to k8n sli platinum but now i cannot use my sata HDD , vista just wont boot when the disk is connected. it just keep on going forever in the boot up screen. but in linux , bart pe and other free dos program, it works just fine. i tried to formate it in all of these OS but still no way to boot in vista, i even cant boot from the vista disk with the HDD connected.
NOTE: i juse an IDE HDD to run my system, so the sata disk is just a storage HDD. if i leave the sata disk without any partition or format ,i can boot up in vista. but when i go to disk manager in vista and trie to formate it in vista, it just freez the program and i got to close the disk manager. but vista still work, next time i restart its back to the same , just staying forever on the boot up screen.
Vista x64 SP2 with 500GB Seagate SATA HDD. I can resume from standby, but it can take up to 10 minutes for it to work again. I believe it's the HDD not waking up (powering up) immediately when it resumes (S3 Hybrid Sleep).

I can see it in the game controllers on the control panel and it says it is working. However, i loaded up call of duty world at war (which supports the controller) but it just doesnt work........
View 8 Replies View Related1.) I've been (since I got the custom-built PC about a year ago) been using a wireless keyboard; the adapter is USB-connectable. All USB ports respond if/when I attach a device.
2.) I don't know the name of the "port," but where you'd normally plug-in any keyboard (6-pins, 1 square center pin, almost circle-shaped plug), I get no response.
3.) I tried plugging-in a wired keyboard that I borrowed from a friend. I even bought a new Microsoft keyboard, thinking the borrowed one was damaged. I'm positive at this point it's system/hardware-related.
4.) When I go into Device Manager and even view hidden devices, none of the drivers have that warning sign (yellow triangle + a "!" sign) by them. This indicates, to me at least, all my drivers are intact.
My PC wont start onto my Desktop, the only thing you can see is the "System Recovery", and the "System Recovery" doesnt work (it wont repair). The computer did shutdown while i completed an programinstallation, probably a virus?:....

I have to delete the program and reload each time to check for new mail. The check for new mail box is ticked by the way. And the Send/Receive button produces - the same result - all tasks failed.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI decided to do a clean install of Vista Home Premium, on a computer that hasn't had any problems running it. I reformatted the drive, did the install, and after several repeated attempts doing it, I did it one final time, and let it sit for 8 hours, hoping time would clear it up, it didn't. It boots as far as the screen that has the green progress bar on the bottom, then the screen goes blank, as if it suddenly stopped sending data to the monitor. Rebooting using safe mode yields an error that it cannot finish installing in safe mode. Graphics are via ATI x1900, but I'm also plugged into the onboard graphics, neither gives me anything. An attempt to install XP on it worked fine, so the hardware should all be fine. Is Vista running something in the background that takes endless hours, or is something seriously messed up here?
View 8 Replies View RelatedLast night I was installing Worms 4, it told me I had to restart my PC after the installation, so I do, but when I restart I get a screen right after the boot menu that says it cannot "verify digital signature of this file." (sfsync02.sys) It then says at the bottom to hit either enter or esc, which would be great, except that my keyboard doesn't want to work on start up. It's always done this. It works fine once Windows has started (but I can't get it to start because I can't get past this screen), and it also works in the BIOS (but not the boot menu, or any of the other screens)
The error told me to repair the problem via my windows vista disc, which I tried, but it still takes me to the same screen and does not boot the vista disc in my disc drive. I've read elsewhere that particular file has to do with preventing copy right infringement on games, but it was a legit copy of the game, so what gives? Oh my keyboard plugs into the KB port and is not USB.
I have an issue with Remote Assistance whenever someone sends me an invite through live I accept and it never launches the next window for me to see there screen and they never get the prompt. What I Have found thus far is that after a reboot it usually works and when it doesnt work I find msra.exe running in processes and as soon as I end the task it then comes up. This only happens on my Vista 64 Bit Ultimate Copy and doesnt happen at all with 32 Bit. I have DMZ on both firewalls off as well as on the PC and same results. and it is driving me crazy although I have a work around for the time being even though it is annoying
View 7 Replies View RelatedThe problem is that when I'm listening to music or playing a game, the sound works just fine on my speakers. But if I plug in my headphones to the front port, the sound continues to come out of my speakers, and not my headphones. The only way to get the sound to come out of my headphones and not the speakers is to re-launch the application that is producing sound. The same is true vice-versa (going from headphones back to speakers). I have set my default output device to be the headphones and have played around with every setting in the Sound Blaster and Vista Sound control panels I can find - nothing seems to work.
I have read through other forums with similar issues, but they're all either a different issue (i.e. they get sound out of the speakers and the headphones - I only get it out of one, and not the right one), or the threads seem to have dropped off unsolved.
I have been playing around with my Vista for some days now. I patched my registry to account for custom visual styles and all. The computer responded fine to all these changes until today. I installed Desktop Maestro 3.0.0.830 which according to the internet is a decent registry cleaner and works with vista sp2.
What I learnt from the net is that desktop maestro will clean registry and will quicken my startup. So i ran it, and it came up with 937 problems in my registry. So the next thing i did was "Repair". and it did just that. But since then my computer hasn't been starting up at all. Before the login screen comes, i get a blue screen, which remains for too short a time for me to read, and reboots.
Turned the computer on in Safe Mode, which worked perfectly. Ran desktop maestro again, and restored the computer to a previous state. This didn't work. it kept saying C: has some errors please check. But the disk check doesnt work.......
hey everyone, so i know that there have been lots of post similar to this, but none of the actual responses work in my case. I used my laptop in the morning, no problem, and that afternoon, after I logged in, "welcome" popped up, and it remained on that screen for approx 30 seconds, and then it turned black. the cursor works but you cant see anything, but it sounds like everything is loading. I tried to press control, alt, delete but that doesnt work. It just sits there.
So I tried running it in safe mode, and if i hold down f8, it beeps for a bit, and then sometimes it runs in safe mode, sometimes not. I tried doing a system restore, but that didnt work. I dont know what else to do
Front panel microphone and headphone doesn't work Win Vista, I have onboard Realtek HD Audio ALC880, last driver version R1.88. So it work fine Win XP only. I think Vista realtek driver hasn't full support of ALC880?

When my laptop saw this connection it came up with a pop up that asked me if i wanted to connect, i did then it asked me if this was a work, home or public connection i labeled it as work. I have been testing on this work wireless connection and ran the cisco VPN client and it was able to
connect.
Now i got home and the same wireless configuration pop up came on, i setup my home wireless and it again asked me if it was a work, home or public connection i choose home. Also, i have WEP running on my home network. My cisco VPN client keeps coming back with the following error: "Secure VPN connection terminated locally by the client. Reason 412: The remote peer is no longer responding"........
Something weird just happened. I was downloading entourage season 2 i was watching the episodes that were completed early and they worked fine. Finally when the torrent finished downloading, i moved the files to from the completed folder to my tv shows. And now the audio doesnt work. I tried playing some other files and they all work fine. But entorage season 2 doesnt work, even the files that worked earlier dont anymore?

View 4 Replies View RelatedUpgraded a client's Toshiba Vista Ultimate to SP1. Now the audio won't work. The Windows Audio Sevice is set to "Automatic" but when I try to start it, I get this error: Error 1075: The dependency service is not started or is marked for deletion.
All dependent services are running. And if I check the Event viewer, I also see: Event 7003. The Windows Audio Service depends the following service: MMCSS. This service might not be installed.
I don't know that service and don't see it listed in the MMC. I also see this problem in Google from some others. Is it a common problem? Right now client has no sound...just a red X over the volume icon down in the sys tray.
