Front panel microphone and headphone doesn't work Win Vista, I have onboard Realtek HD Audio ALC880, last driver version R1.88. So it work fine Win XP only. I think Vista realtek driver hasn't full support of ALC880?

My PC specs are as follows:
Intel Core 2 Quad CPU Q6600 @ 2.40 Ghz
Nvidia 680i SLI PCI-E
2x Geforce 6800 GS
HD Realtek Audio (onboard)
4.0 GB RAM
My issue is that I can't get any non-USB microphone to be picked up on any input, front or rear panel. I have installed the newest Realtek Audio HD drivers (2.00) and just recently did a fresh install of Vista with SP1 thinking that that would solve the issue. My system is fully up to date according to Windows Update.
However, though the sound manager realizes when I plug in a microphone, there is absolutely no level of input no matter how much I yell into it. I have two separate microphones (both working on other computers i.e my laptop's Vista install) which are not picked up at all.
I have cross checked and triple checked that the sound settings are all unmuted and corresponding within Realtek's sound manager as well as Vista's. This solves nothing. There is still no recognition of a working mic.
I am totally stumped as the microphone used to work on Vista when I had the automatic HD Audio Driver installed from Microsoft and then suddenly stopped. However, I have since tried to revert to the old driver but to no avail.
i bought this system on 2nd november. just imagine, i spend ~1800$ to buy this pc AND after 17 days, 17 days i still cant get sound out of my onboard sound card!
the problem is that the ANALOG BACK PANEL and FRONT PANEL does not work

today, my supplier tested the motherboard in front of my eyes, and it worked fine THERE.
they said maybe it is your graphics card's driver (HD 4870) that makes this problem. so i came home, uninstalled the VGA driver and ATI HD Audio driver and STILL NO SOUND my speakers are fine (i tested them with another pc and with my mp3 player) and i installed the latest drivers for everything.
i also e-mailed Realtek technical support last week, and they didnt answer!
i asked in 3 or 4 other forums (tomshardware, anandtech, guru3d....) no one could help me

as u can see in the last picture, the ANALOG BACK PANEL is inactive in Realtek HD Audio Manager.
The problem is that when I'm listening to music or playing a game, the sound works just fine on my speakers. But if I plug in my headphones to the front port, the sound continues to come out of my speakers, and not my headphones. The only way to get the sound to come out of my headphones and not the speakers is to re-launch the application that is producing sound. The same is true vice-versa (going from headphones back to speakers). I have set my default output device to be the headphones and have played around with every setting in the Sound Blaster and Vista Sound control panels I can find - nothing seems to work.
I have read through other forums with similar issues, but they're all either a different issue (i.e. they get sound out of the speakers and the headphones - I only get it out of one, and not the right one), or the threads seem to have dropped off unsolved.
I've just installed the OS Vista Ultimate 64 in my Asus P5N-D motherboard. The problem is that when I was using the XP 32bits the front panel was working perfectly. And now on Vista it doesn't, and I didn't touched the connectors.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have a weird problem with my Vista partition and my creative x-fi xtreme PCI express card. Drivers / control panel can detect my headphones being plugged into the port in my front panel. If I do a channel test I can hear the "left channel" / "right channel" test audio track play through the headphones. But for the life of me, no matter what I do, I can not get normal windows sound (media player, power dvd etc...) to go through the head phones when they are plugged into the front panel and it's driving me crazy. I've set headphones to be the default play back device but nothing.
What kills me is that if I boot into my windows XP partition, everything is fine. The speakers are even muted when I plug my headphones in and sound comes out of them perfectly. Am I doing something wrong? or is it just a driver bug? I'm using the latest vista drivers (via creative update). I'm running 64 bit Vista business by the way
My headset and mic jack is plugged in the front panel but he panel however does detect the jacks.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have an expensive motherboard (ASUS P5N32-SLI SE Deluxe) with 5.1 sound (Realtek AC'97) IO on the back panel and an internal 10 pin (with 2 pins missing) AC'97 header to which I should be able to attach the AC'97 lead from my case's front panel headphone + mic sockets.
However, when I plug in the internal header, I lose the front left and right speakers from my 5.1 back panel socket (without getting it out the front socket either). I assume this is something to do with the way vista has only one "speakers" thing in control panel's "sound" thing and how it detects if things are unplugged. The only way I have been able to get the back panel sound back has been to unplug the front panel from the internal IO header.
Does anyone know how to fix this so that I can use both the front panel (headphones) and back panel (speakers) without turning my computer off to attach a lead to the motherboard?
I am installing a new Gigabyte mobo (MA78GM-US2H) in an HP Media Center Case. The pin layout between the case & mobo is nearly the same except that the HD LED and the Power LED are reversed on the new mobo. The power switch pins are correct. The case does not have reset capability. Does it matter that the two LED pin connectors are reversed or should I attempt to change the wires coming from the case?

Windows Vista Business Pro 2007 (6.0). 18 months ago, a friend from church who builds and fixes computers on the side; put the Vista OS in this tower by Centurion. I have never been inside a pc so do not know anything about the inside. It has: 2 gig RAM, DVD/CD-Rom drive: Memorez DVD16+/-DL4RWnD2ATA Device; IED Channel, VIA Bus Master IDE Controller - 0571; Vinyl AC'97 Codec Combo Driver (WMD); Mainboard-MSI PT 880 Neo-FSR (Ms-7043); Chipset: VIA PT880. I have contacted the VIA company with no replies about the soundcard. I have tried both a desktop and headset w/mic and neither works.
Someone told me it is hard to get a microphone to work with Vista. Another said the guy put a new OS onto old hardware. I am on SS, so cannot afford another pc. Do I need a new soundcard, or try a usb mic? PLease advise. I have gone into sound in control panel and unmuted the mic. It says in there Line-in not available. Jack not available.
I've tried all the solutions I can think of...followed the trouble shooting guide, but when I open up the Speaker Properties, and go to Levels to see if my microphone is muted....all I see is the volume level.....no phone line, Line In, Aux, Microphone....What else can I try......(frustrated)

My problem is the following:
Recently reformatted due to some issues I was having that seemed unsolveable, everything was fixed but a new problem occured. My Razer Carcharias, and other microphones in my house, don't seem to be registering in my audiojacks.
This wasn't an issue before my reformat, but now suddenly it says in Sound options "Not plugged in" ...
here's the problem. My microphone dont work. I have the latest drivers soudn works, just microphone doesnt work.

The headset is a free one that came with some language learning software so there's no driver. In the sound manager, Vista detects the microphone as being plugged in - as a "Microphone/Line In - SigmaTel High Definition Audio CODEC", but no program notices any sound coming from it. It is set as the default microphone and it's enabled. It works on my old computer still.

Im using the integrated sound from the motherboard , is SoundMax Integrated Digital HD Audio, Driver 6.10.2.6110 , I've try reinstalling the driver but it didn't fix anything. Please if anyone knows anything about this let me know, I used to talk with people over the net about 5 months ago with this same computer and everything worked .

Last week I bought a new Acer Aspire 6350 w/ Vista - My 1st Vista machine. After uninstalling all the Acer bloatware, I open the GUI defragger, it analyzes C: for 2 secs (doesn't even mention analyzing the other 2 partitions) then it says "your file system performance can be improved". I defrag it the C:, it takes 45 mins or so and done. I go to my wife's Dell Vista laptop and go to the GUI defragger. It analyzes all 3 of her partitions. Weird, mine only analyzed C: for 2 secs. I then go back to my new Acer and run the GUI degragmenter again. After a 2 sec C: analysis it says "your file system......." again. Then when I go the command line defrag, run "defrag c: -a" it says I don't need to defrag. Bottom line is the GUI defragmenter doesn't work on this new laptop. It doesn't scan all partitions, when started it runs for a bit, then it just stops and it goes back to saying " your file system performance can be improved".
View 9 Replies View Relatedi have a Saitek Cyborg Gaming keyboard and everything worked fine until i spilled some water on it. the keyboard STILL WORKS after i let it dry out. the problem is it doesnt work on MY computer. im pretty sure its a driver issue. ive uninstalled all drivers for the keyboard and reinstalled. still no work. tried system restore to when it did work. still doesnt work. *Also the keyboard has gaming keys which are programed and still work. but normal keys dont. so im confused

View 7 Replies View Relatedi have just purchased by new machine which came with vista ultimate 64bit SP1 pre installed. the bit locker will not work as there is no TPM found is says a TPM is required to turn on bitlocker. i know you can use a flash drive every time you start up the machine but i dont want to do that. Does anyone know how i can get a TPM or know a solution - i read something about upgrading the bios but i dont know what bios i have!

View 9 Replies View RelatedI unplug AC and USB devices in order to work outside my working station... After some time, when I replug the laptop to AC and replug the USB devices they don't work... No mouse, no printer, no smart card, no usb at all. Also I can't restart the computer as it freezes, so I have to shut it down "violently". I noticed that this always occurs when the battery is under 50 %. But sometimes it happens even at higher percentages. I've installed sp2, I've disabled the USB selective suspend both in power options and in registry.
View 9 Replies View Relatedjust changed motherboard to k8n sli platinum but now i cannot use my sata HDD , vista just wont boot when the disk is connected. it just keep on going forever in the boot up screen. but in linux , bart pe and other free dos program, it works just fine. i tried to formate it in all of these OS but still no way to boot in vista, i even cant boot from the vista disk with the HDD connected.
NOTE: i juse an IDE HDD to run my system, so the sata disk is just a storage HDD. if i leave the sata disk without any partition or format ,i can boot up in vista. but when i go to disk manager in vista and trie to formate it in vista, it just freez the program and i got to close the disk manager. but vista still work, next time i restart its back to the same , just staying forever on the boot up screen.
Vista x64 SP2 with 500GB Seagate SATA HDD. I can resume from standby, but it can take up to 10 minutes for it to work again. I believe it's the HDD not waking up (powering up) immediately when it resumes (S3 Hybrid Sleep).

I can see it in the game controllers on the control panel and it says it is working. However, i loaded up call of duty world at war (which supports the controller) but it just doesnt work........
View 8 Replies View Related1.) I've been (since I got the custom-built PC about a year ago) been using a wireless keyboard; the adapter is USB-connectable. All USB ports respond if/when I attach a device.
2.) I don't know the name of the "port," but where you'd normally plug-in any keyboard (6-pins, 1 square center pin, almost circle-shaped plug), I get no response.
3.) I tried plugging-in a wired keyboard that I borrowed from a friend. I even bought a new Microsoft keyboard, thinking the borrowed one was damaged. I'm positive at this point it's system/hardware-related.
4.) When I go into Device Manager and even view hidden devices, none of the drivers have that warning sign (yellow triangle + a "!" sign) by them. This indicates, to me at least, all my drivers are intact.
My PC wont start onto my Desktop, the only thing you can see is the "System Recovery", and the "System Recovery" doesnt work (it wont repair). The computer did shutdown while i completed an programinstallation, probably a virus?:....

I have to delete the program and reload each time to check for new mail. The check for new mail box is ticked by the way. And the Send/Receive button produces - the same result - all tasks failed.
