Something weird just happened. I was downloading entourage season 2 i was watching the episodes that were completed early and they worked fine. Finally when the torrent finished downloading, i moved the files to from the completed folder to my tv shows. And now the audio doesnt work. I tried playing some other files and they all work fine. But entorage season 2 doesnt work, even the files that worked earlier dont anymore?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have Windows Vista Home Premium OS and until recently am unable to play video (such as wmv files sent as e-mail attachments).Audio is fine and it was playing both audio and video until recently then the video just stopped.I am not very good on the computer and would greatly appreciate anybodys input.I dont know if a setting has been mistakenly changed (unknowingly) but I cant find any.I have a lot of e-mails with wmv's attached from friends and can no longer view the videos.

A 9 minute file screeches through in about one second with only a weird audio noise like a robot talking into a tin can, and no video at all. At first it wouldn't do it, then a prompt told me I could try & run it if I wanted to. It played but now Media Player won't run on web sites, particularly the Nasa homepage (it used to ). Now I am forced to use QuickTime, which just isn't the same. I won't have RealPlayer on my computer either, just in case anyone suggests I download it.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI started listening to an MSN radio station using media player since early last year. I would go to the MSN site, choose the genre, choose the station and it would automatically open and begin to play in the media player. I eventually put a shortcut to my preferred station on my desktop.
About 2-3 months ago things changed. Instead of the media player opening up and playing the selected station immediately, it started downloaded a file (the station's?) before it would begin playback. All audio that opens in the media player (from MSN's music sites) will not begin before the player downloads a file; it is not the music file itself. This is strange. I have tried, unsuccessfully, to uninstall the media player. I thought by installing it again it would work properly. Does anyone have an idea of what is happening? Is this a new change in the media player?
I got a virus which I was successfully able to remove from my system but now Windows Media Player doesn't work. Clicking yes just takes me to their website where there isn't a version of WMP for Vista, only for XP. From what I've found there isn't a way to reinstall WMP for Vista. Is there a way to repair this error?

I don't know if they are related but a couple of weeks ago I down loaded from the Microsoft site programs for reading the newer versions of Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.
I have tried to find the Media Player software on the Microsoft site thinking I could reinstall it but all I can find is updates to it. I don't even know what version of Media Players I have. I am using Vista, with all current patches.
When playing XM radio from within Vista Media Center, I select XM radio from selection screen, I log in, I see the channel lign up, I select my Xm channel, and it says it is playing. However, there is no audio. Everything else that used Video or Audio works correctly within Vista Media Center and Windows Media Player. Live TV, Recorded TV, CD's DVD's, online media all play with sound. It is only XM radio from within Media center that does not have audio. I don't use the application everyday but I know it did work prior to installing SP1. I have a new rig (1 month old), and I installed SP1 about 2 weeks ago. I have uninstalled and reinstalled my sound card drivers and well as found an update. I believe there is an association between the XM radio app and the Media player that may be missing or corrupt.
View 9 Replies View RelatedLast week I bought a new Acer Aspire 6350 w/ Vista - My 1st Vista machine. After uninstalling all the Acer bloatware, I open the GUI defragger, it analyzes C: for 2 secs (doesn't even mention analyzing the other 2 partitions) then it says "your file system performance can be improved". I defrag it the C:, it takes 45 mins or so and done. I go to my wife's Dell Vista laptop and go to the GUI defragger. It analyzes all 3 of her partitions. Weird, mine only analyzed C: for 2 secs. I then go back to my new Acer and run the GUI degragmenter again. After a 2 sec C: analysis it says "your file system......." again. Then when I go the command line defrag, run "defrag c: -a" it says I don't need to defrag. Bottom line is the GUI defragmenter doesn't work on this new laptop. It doesn't scan all partitions, when started it runs for a bit, then it just stops and it goes back to saying " your file system performance can be improved".

Does anyone know how i can get a TPM or know a solution - i read something about upgrading the bios but i dont know what bios i have!

We have a security camera that takes a short video when motion activated. The file is then emailed to the tech guys. I cannot view the video. It opens Windows Media player and then just sits there with a blank screen. I can use XP and the file plays just fine, just not on my Ultimate computer.
First of all I'm on vista home basic, second of all wmp was already installed on my pc when I received it. Lastly, it's always had this problem When I click on a mp3/avi/any wmp associated file it will launch the file audio, I can hear it BUT wmp doesn't open, I have to manually launch wmp before I can stop the file or do anything else.
I googled the problem many times and tried solutions but never got anywhere. I reset the assiociated files, I've checked for updates , I've run out of ideas. I was even going to unistall and reinstall it. Yet I can't seem to get a vista version from the microsoft webpage ?! So I don't want to uninstall it and loose it, or even try using wmp 10
instead, I'm worried it will mess up my machines default settings and/or media center!
Each time I put an audio CD into the cd drive Window Media Player comes alive and starts to play it. Many times I just want to rip the CD onto my MP3 player with software that comes with the MP3 player. I'll even have the ripping software loaded and ready to view the first Cd into the drive but Media Player still jumps ion over everything and starts playing the Cd. Is there some way I can make Media player just stay still until I want it and launch it myself?
