How can you get for the font Lucida Grande to appear in windows vista?
Here is what you got in for windows xp:
1. You installed Safari.
2. You go to Start Menu.
3. Then clicked my computer.
4. Selected C drive.
5. Selected Program Files.
6. Selected Safari.
7. Selected Safari.resources.
8. Opened up Control Panel. Then double-clicked Fonts.
9. Dragged and dropped the Lucida Grande font files.
I am trying to find the font folder, so that I can copy a font onto a disk to put onto my laptop. In other versions of Windows its C:windowsfonts, which it appears to be in Vista, but once in C:Windows I cannot find the fonts folder. If I go through the control panel to the fonts folder it will not let me copy the front from there. It will let me right click the font to copy, but not let me paste onto a memory stick. I have already got into Folder options and made sure that Hidden files are visible.

Each "freeze" period lasts about 5 to 10 seconds before the system returns to normal. When I view each of the processor cores during these "freeze" periods, each cores cycles to 100% utilization, in order.
Is it possible to obtain a comprehensive listing of servers and interpreters that are a normal part of the Windows Vista Operating System? These are the only kinds of programs I expect the Security updates to be fixing.
Servers = Programs included with the OS which accepts commands from the Internet or LAN external to My Computer. Interpreters = Programs which will execute any kind of source code whatsoever like HyperTextMarkUpLanguage HTML or Basic or C+ or Fortran or whatever.
I know of no other kinds of programs unless you can tell me now that may work ndependent of User Control. If I could ID these rouge programs running in the background it would be better than the security updates themselves.
I have an HP dv5-1000us running Vista Home Premium 64, and I've had it for several months. Recently it has developed a tendancy to randomly freeze solid (no control alt delete, no coming back from being frozen, must hard restart). It got much worse when I tried to install the new Zune update (3.1); now it will freeze like clockwork about 3 minutes after I open Zune. If I don't open Zune, it's much more random but it still happens. Another symptom is that I started getting a message that my sound driver software had to close due to a "problem". Sound still works, I just get the annoying message. Nothing I do seems to fix it, including Bios flashing, driver/device install/reinstall, etc.
I was really surprised when I looked at the system monitor. I have 4 gigs of RAM installed, and it runs at a steady 1.7gb usage with no programs open. I have disabled the animation stuff, too. When I open Zune it shoots up to around 2gb. The processor varies between 4 to 20% with no programs open, and is at 95-99% when Zune is open. As I'm typing this, I have flock, skype, and outlook open, the processor is running at about 30% and the RAM usage holds at a steady 1.76gb. Question: Is this normal? Or is it time (already) to bust out the restore disks?
Just wondered what the normal temperature of a PC was when it's running, when you're gaming for example?
What's the normal temp of a graphics card when running a game like Warhammer?
View 5 Replies View Relatedi have a 4870 right now and im looking to get a second one (yeah i know 5000 series are out but w/e) i heard if u crossfire 2 cards u can only get 1 display is this true? im pretty sure it is but anyway im gettign a second monitor and i was wondering if its possible to switch off from crossfire to normal so i can game on a single one and then just watch while watchign vids on Internet on the second just like that? or would i be better off not crossfiring @ all. and if i dont corssfire what would be my fps boost?

Will boot fine into safe mode/sm w networking..
Normal boot just sits at loading screen..
Have tried:
Disabling all startup apps and services -same
System restore as far back as it will go - completed, but the same
Recovery functions from boot menu - complete, but the same
Last known good config - same
Disable Driver Signature Enforcement - same
Enable low resolution video - same
Biggest problem is no Toshiba/MS restore CD/DVD available.
I do have a clean copy of XP I could try.
I have no problem formatting and starting over w XP, but it just seems like if it will boot to safe mode, it should be fixable ... software/drivers being the issue.
To make this short, I just have two basic questions, for now...
1. How far can someone go in formatting a drive on their computer?
2. Let's say you bought a computer and it came with it all the necessary cds, which I think is the case with most computer purchases. Could you go as far as you can with formatting all the drives (C: drive, E: recovery drive, etc.) on the computer, and bring it back to normal with those cds (cds containing windows, dell software, etc.) of course disregarding other downloaded files like word docs, videos + music etc.?
I've checked and General is "normal" and boot is not ticked.I get about 15 secs of blackness, 5 secs of progress bar at the bottom,another 10 secs of blackness and then Vista.If I tick no gui in boot, I get "aurora" for the whole duration with no progress bar.
I got a customer Windows Vista Basic keep boot into Safe Mode even I keep try to boot into normal mode. I had follow question:

My windows vista has one user account and one admin account, i've reccently installed the game 'audition' which is known as an 'unidentified program from an unidentified publisher' to play in both accounts but this game is always block or rather requires a permission to 'allow' the program to be run or requests for the adminstrators permission to run the program, and there is a popup window telling me that i change to control settings about allowing the game to run without prompting anymore in the future at 'user account controls' but i just can't seem to find the place to chnage the settings,

View 6 Replies View RelatedI use the Pictures folder alot on my Vista based computer, and recently I was sorting through some of the pictures, deciding which ones to keep and which to delete. Most of these I have copied from my digital camera, and some I have downloaded from the web. Well, after having gone through them all, there is at least one in particular that I cannot seem to delete. I don't want it to just be sent to the Recycle Bin, but completely erased from the computer. I have discounted any viruses or spyware, and checked all my 'Folder' settings, but nothing I can think of to do will remove this file from the folder. It also does not actually show up in normal viewing, only if i do a search using special variables. It only shows up if I type, "*.jpg" into the search bar when I am viewing the directory. I can't however do anything with the file. I can't move it, I can't rename it, and while it shows a thumbnail image of the photo, when I click on it to open it, the picture viewer shows no photo-representation. I also can't replace it with another file with the same exact name. How do I permanently remove this one file? And how did it get to the point of being undeletable. File properties do not show that it is 'hidden' or 'read only'.

I even replaced my Motherboard/drives/video hardware and it still suicides out. I reinstalled Vista, this time I also installed SP1. After a day (today many of my desktop and start menu and explorer icons show either the default windows UGLY icon or that icon on TOP of the normal icon. When I turned it on nothing happened again and my screen went black so I kept trying to restart it andfinally after some attempts I got it to start but while it was loading vista a blue screen appeared and it restarted again. So I managed to restart it on safe mode and I got this blue screen again and a restart. I have to activate task manager and click "look for solution" which re-activates IE but makes me lose everything I was working on prior to sleep/hibernation or screensaver. Yesterday the screen became stuck and unresponsive, I switched the computer off then on and after the normal repair / assessment of disk errors etc tried to log-on, the screen got to welcome with active cursor but got no further. I entered safe start-up to try to restore system to a point in time, but the Help system instructions to manually set up the restore point didn't correlate to any of the available options on the system, I'm not sure if an Windows automatic update has caused this.

regarding font size.
Since then all my html messages use size 12 in Windows Mail, Live Mail, or
Yahoo Mail.
I can specify the use of a different size, but as soon as I type anything,
the size reverts to 12.
I can change any other attribute such as face, bold, etc. and they all
work.
I would like to reinstall Windows Mail but I understand that's not possible
as it's inseparable from Vista.
I've run sfc /scannow and there are no problems.
The only solution that seems possible it to fix or replace that registry
line I screwed up.
Incoming email is difficult to read because of age and font size. Have checked out ideas on Goggle and Windows "Help and Support". Either I'm too thick or the suggestions are no longer applicable. I'm using Vista, IE 8 and Windows mail.
