The Windows Update for the "nvidia nforce networking controller" caused my internet to not work properly. I restored my system and rolled back the driver, both on separate occasions to resolve this issue. It worked, however, now I need to know what to do about the update. I cannot leave my settings to update automatically because of this.

I just installed Vista on my computer, and was installing all my programs when I had to reboot. I did so, but then realised I'd lost my internet (it had been working up until then). A 'Diagnose and Repair' found that "The network adapter 'Nvidia nForce Networking Controller' is experiencing driver or hardware related issues." As I said, the internet had been working up until then. I haven't installed any Windows updates (it's set to alert me of new ones). I have had this problem before: I installed Vista, internet worked, rebooted after installing various programs, internet didn't work. Left it overnight & tried again next day, internet worked. Sometime later after reboot, internet didn't work. I then tried to install the Nvidia chipset driver again, but it froze part way through the install. This is when I wiped the entire hard drive and started again, but the problem is back.

My Internet was acting very very slow. My computer was running fast as it always does but the internet was just very slow. I than noticed that in the bottom right corner of my screen the little globe had gone away. when I scrolled over it, it read local only? About one minute later the globe came back and it read local and internet. Whats wrong here? Here is my setup- I have my desktop computer connected to a wireless router (protected) (only used for Playstation) the router is connected to my vonage device, and the vonage device is connected to the modem. I am on vista, I have charter communications as my isp and this is not the first time this has happened!In fact if I look in my firewall I sometimes see connection issues like these- IP address has dissapeared from adapter Nvidia Nforce 10/100 mbps ethernet is no longer being protected (IP address .....) then a few seconds later I will read protecting your connection to a newly detected network Nvidia N force 10/100 mbps (ethernet.......) this ethernet is different that the one that dissapeared.Then I will see other firewall logs with all these connections and all?? Im so confuced. I am 99.9 % sure I have not been hacked by a neighbor.

My Vista computer is a member of WORKGROUP but isn't networking with WORKGROUP properly, although it connects properly over WiFi to the internet.First, in Explorer, there is a entry named Network (not My Network Places, etc.) that shows only this computer and no entry for WORKGROUP or for the other computers. Also, WORKGROUP is present but is empty (except for this computer) in View Computers and Devices. However, Full Map View shows the other computers and they can be opened with \computername and seen on Net View IP. So, how do I make those computers show up in explorer or View Computers or in some other accessible place? Also, the Vista computer is not visible from the other computers. If searched for with \computername, a error message says "computername is not accessible. You might not have permission ..." Net View IP reports "System Error 5. Access is denied."
All computers are using the WORKGROUP name. Same results with all firewalls disabled. Files are being shared. Private Network, Network discovery On, File sharing On Public Folder sharing On, Password protected sharing off, Media Sharing On, WINS NetBios setting Default. The XP computers are running Link-Layer and NW Link NetBios.
I just built a new core i7 computer with the intle DX58SO board and a EVGA GTS 250 Video Card and 6gb of ram. I have time warner cable, just the basic channels up to 80 or something. I am interested in getting something for my computer that lets me watch the channels on my monitor. I would prefer something with a remote, but it doesn't really matter. Video quality is the most important. And it has to work with Vista Ultimate x64. I wasn't sure if there is anything Nvidia based, but I would prefer that also.

Since then Ive been getting critical error code 132 from WoW and alot of blue screens with about 5 or 6 different BCCodes. Im on the WoW tech support forums for the critical errors but the blue screens are more of a problem. Ive updated all the drivers..I think. Ran a memory diagnostics tool, error checking on the hard drive, problem reports and solutions, disk clean up and defrag.. theres gonna be something else, maybe I dont have ALL the drivers updated or maybe I do and just dont have the most recent update...Im hoping you guys can tell me what to do.

so i have a pretty outdated system and i am thinking about upgrading it over the holidays. i am adding 2 gb ram and am looking for a pci (not express)card tht can run aero for around 50$. i am upgradeing from my wimpy little ati raedon 9250. would this card be capable of running aero? With the research ive done on numerous websites i think this card should be able to get the job done. but im just making sure that anyone doesn't know anthing different. also if there are any other better deals out there let me know.

i've got two computers running off a LAN network at my business (i think that's what it's called when it's not wireless). the main computer is working fine, connecting to the internet, network, etc. the secondary computer WAS working fine until yesterday morning. nothing has changed, no one has touched anything or made any adjustments or anything at all. now it appears to connect to the network since it's still running our POS program with no problem, but it says it's connecting to "unidentified network". it also won't connect to the internet. we've tried all the standard troubleshooting ideas (disconnecting, reconnecting, restarting, blah blah blah) NOTHING WORKS!
i've read other threads & tried what other people are trying & it's still doing the same exact thing. the thing that's different from everyone elses problems is that most other people are having problems with new systems or updated systems... this computer has had no changes made to it & was working fine until now.

I've tried 64 and 32bit versions but I keep having the following problem: Basically I can access the internet but very, very slowly. Most pages just time out. The machines both have Broadcom NetXtreme 57xx Gigabit NIC's connected to Dell Powerconnect Gigabit switches. I've tried Manual IP config and DHCP but I can't get a reasonable speed through via ethernet! View 9 Replies View RelatedI have finaly gotten xp and vista to network together with no trouble through a hub/router/switch, I can see both computers from eatchother and run programs between them no problem. The problem is i have a connection to the internet with the vista computer but not the xp computer. If i try resetting the router and cable modem what ever computer i load up first gets the internet conection.I have to force the ip adderss by making it match within on number the vista ip. basicly shove the network down vista's neck. I have went into the vista computer and made sure i checked the box to make it so that any computer on the network can surf the internet though its internet connection but my xp still can not see the internet.
I have tried using command prompts to ping the internet and ping my gateway but that is no good. On vista i can map it out and see the gateway but with xp even when it has the internet connection i do no see the gateway. is there something i am missing in the set up of the network and is tthere a fix without updating to vista and or taking a axe to my vista computer i just spent 2 grand on.

However, when I tried to get more information on it, I was sent to Winqual Help Unfortunately, to get to any link inside Winqual Help one need a digital certificate, which is available for $49. It seems an inappropriate for MS to place explanations in an area that cannot be accessed by all valid owners of a Windows OS. Such explanations should be moved back to the traditional pages where they can be accessed by all.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have started to notice a lot of vista systems that are connected direct to cable modems saying not connected to internet or showing unidentified network. You cannot create a new connection, because the create a connection is for PPPoE only, (which is not very smart). And when the browser gives you the option to connect, it asks for name/password for a PPPoE connection.
1. How do I get the Vista networking to recognize the fact is has a direct connection to the Internet?
2. How can you create a new connection without it defaulting to PPPoE?
3. Is there any way to force Vista to simply connect to a network, if the network is available, and has been checked with other computers as working properly, and Network discovery is on, and vista simply says unknown network?........
My system is now "frozen". On the screen is my two ientities. The mouse pointer is located midway between them and WILL NOT move. I downloaded a NVIDIA update last nigth that may be the culprit, but I cannot do anything because the computer is frozen. There is a round blue icon lower left of the screen the looks like a blue clock. I am not sure it was there before. The mouse is not wireless, teh light is on in the mouse, it is just as if the buttons do not work.
View 5 Replies View RelatedSeen in the capture below, the video card is showing as a 1.0, while I expected at least 5.0...the only place this shows to be a problem is while playing halo 2, the game plays choppy to the point where it is almost unplayable. This is odd however, because it seems to do fine in Dawn of war, DDO, and tribes vengeance. I ran a benching program and the card did fine, fps of 280 something, but vista can't seem to sort itself. We are about to get borderlands for this pc, so we wanted to get this problem fixed first. So far I have installed and reinstalled the newest nvidia graphics drivers, mobo bios, and chipset drivers, and this has me just about stumped. the computer to recognize and use the graphics card? Windows was able to successfully install device driver software, but the driver software encountered a problem when it tried to run. The problem code is 43.

i got a new computer and i wonder if the grafic card will work with game such as BAttlefield 2 and 2142? My grafic card is: NVIDIA eForce g100 512 mb, and when i bought it the salesman told me it would work on this games but im not sure if it will.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have just finished a new build on a GAX48DQ6 mainboard, Q8450 (quad core) 8GB RAM and an Asus version of the 9600GT. Having installed the board drivers and latest NVidia graphics drivers my performance index is 1 - based on the graphics card (everything else is 5.9 except the boot drive which is 5.5). I have re-calculated it about 6 times because I couldn't believe it. Does the performance index not work in Vista 64, this card (with the same version drivers) scores 5.9 in Vista 32. I don't particularly care about the performance index, unless it is indicating a problem.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI bought a Tungtsen E2 Palmone a couple of years ago and it worked just fine with Windows XP. I didn't do anything major with it other than transfer information (contacts & calender) back and forth using HotSync. However, I recently purchased a new Acer computer with Windows Vista - Home Premium (64 X2 Dual Core Processor 4400+) with 1.75 GB RAM; System type: 32-bit Operating System. I knew the old installation CD wouldn't be compatible with Vista, so I downloaded PalmdesktopWin62.zip from the support page at Palmone.com which claims to be the driver to get my palm to work with Vista.
My problem is that I can't seem to get Hot Sync to work properly. Hot Sync begins, but then gets interrupted by a prompt message "create a new account for this PC". If I click "cancel", it shuts down. If I click "yes", then it asks me to put in a password. I don't have a password, nor was I ever given one. I didn't need to use a password while using XP, and I certainly never assigned a password to my Palm.
I've been having software driver problems with my Dlink DWA-552 under Vista. When I booted my Windows 7 64-bit partition, Windows effortlessly installed the correct driver set and I have no problems. I looked into this magic a bit further and discovered that Windows 7 had installed two drivers for my DWA-552, both from system32/drivers: athrx.sys by Atheros and vwifibus.sys by Microsoft.
Under Vista only athrx.sys is installed, which explains why my DWA-552 does not work properly under Vista. I have not been able to get a correct driver install under Vista, driver update is clueless and Vista update is equally clueless as is software from Dlink. How do I manually install vwifibus.sys for my DWA-552 under Vista?
Microsoft is currently running an ad campaign with a toddler performing complex editing tasks on Vista. The message is you are dumber than a three year old if you cannot get Vista to work properly. This ad is an insult to all levels of Vista users that reflects the hostility and contempt Microsoft's current regime has toward its customers. I don't think Bill Gates at his worst was that hostile to customers, just business competitors, which is an entirely different mindset. It must be Balmer. He is going to run Microsoft right into the ground. It hardly matters. If the future is in the clouds, and it likely is, then the OS is irrelevant anyway and it is just a matter of time before Google swallows Microsoft. I think Google would do a better job of running Microsoft than its current regime which seems to have the mentality of General Motors in the 1970s: they'll buy what we make regardless of quality or reliability.

When I execute the program, it comes up with the error message "This system does not support fullscreen mode. Choose 'Close' to terminate the application." My choices then are "Close" or "Ignore". Whichever option I click on, the program will then run, but in a miniscule window that I can't alter. how to get this to run in fullscreen like it did before? I'm working on getting him to join the 21st century, but in the interim, I'd like to make this work...at least temporarily.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have had this X-Fi Snap/Crackle/Pop issue for a few weeks now. It started when I got my 2nd 8800 GTS and an additional 2GB of RAM. The X-Fi card worked great prior to getting these two new pieces of hardware. Then the SCP started happening. My best two leads was that the X-Fi card didn't play nice with 4GB of RAM nor the NForce 4 chipset. After tons of forum research and trying a bunch of possible solutions I have come down to my final try.
My Asus MOBO has a beta bios (1405) that may have the fix for this SCP issue. Since Asus does not release bios information on betas, I am going off of what other people had mentioned about the fixes in this beta bios. I flashed the bios last night and have reimaged my C drive so I know that currently everything is working correctly. I have created a Complete PC Backup image this morning. I will install the X-Fi sound card tonight and see if my SCP issue is gone. If nothing else I can go back to my backup image and try something else. I will update this thread with the results this evening.
Paid a lot for hardware (plenty of disk space and memory) and Windows Vista Ultimate but got very bad experience:
(1) Backup software does not work properly. Always failed with error after burning many DVD-ROMs.
(2) Whenever there is a problem, Vista tries to find solution online, but 10 out of 10 times it found no solution (The function is completely useless but make user more frustrated).
(3) It lags when playing online game (WoW) and have to log out every 5 to 10 minutes. Tried the performance tools to boost the Experience Index Base Score but nothing change. No recommendation or improvement..............................
Prior to formatting my computer my soundcard and its software worked perfectly however after i formatted, my creative audio console doesnt really work properly. For example. Before if i adjusted the master volume in the audio console, it would synronise and adjust the volume in the default windows sound mixer now it doesnt. Secondly before if i plugged in headphones the sound would autmatically go through the headphones and mute the speakers. Now if i open the console and go to the headphones section, I have mute speakers checked and automatically enable headphone settings checked and if i plug in my headphones, sound still comes out of speakers but if i press test in the audio console, the test lady voice comes through the headphones whilst other sounds still continues through the speakers. I have reinstalled the drivers twice now and updated the drivers.
View 4 Replies View RelatedA couple of months ago I assembled a new PC and put Windows Vsta Business on it. I started adding other applications and moving my files then was given a copy of Vista Ultimate. I tried to do an upgrade from Business to Ultimate but after about 10 minutes received a very generic message basically saying that the upgrade couldn't continue for no particular reason and when I hit OK it undid the changes and I was back where I started.
I ran Windows Update, and checked that my sytem had the required specs (everything was above 5.0 except the video card was only rated 3.8 which is OK, I don't do gaming). I tried the upgrade a couple of times to no avail. I would have tried in safe mode but the only option was to do a clean install. I would rather not do a clean install as I have personalized everything. How can I find out what caused the upgrade failure.
Vista Ultimate 64. After installing IE 8, several gadgets stopped working correctly. Did some research and re-registered msxml3.dll, scrrun.dll,jscript.dll. Yet the problem persists.
