The old system i used had a "display as" option and all that it showed was the persons name or nickname. I usually send mail using the BCC option to hide identities so i know that its not a big deal but its driving me mad. I know that there must be a way of changing it to just show a name.

I mean when I right click on a mp3 file and go properties-->details, I cannot change anything here. When I open that file via Tag&Rename, I can see all details of that mp3 file. But on windows I cannot. One week ago there was no proplem. I used CCleaner to clean my registry and afterwards some problems arised.

What I'd like, though, is for these criteria to apply equally to subfolders and files. if I sort by modified date, I'll get a list where all the folders are at the top (sorted by date) then all the files are at the bottom (sorted by date). I'd like to see a single list where the folders and files are interspersed and everything is properly sorted by date (not sorted by type then date as Explorer effectively does for folders). I'm guessing no, but is there any way to get Vista's Windows Explorer to do this?...........

View 4 Replies View Relatedmy acer 5335 is brand new and has vista basic. when i first connected to the internet i installed all available updates including explorer 8 and vista service pack 2. i also downloaded avg anti virus and sunbelt firewall. the problem i have is that some links in some sites will not open at all, some need a right click to select 'open' from the menu, and others open as they should with just a single left click. examples, on my hotmail page, mails will open with a single left click, but the reply or new mail controls will not respond to right or left.
i can left click to view details of cars from the listings, but if i want to view the extra pictures i need to right click and select open. google search works fine and most forum sites as i've been looking for a fix have been ok too. the having to right click isn't too much of a problem but not being able to reply to mail is going to be a pain.
Example: 785.txt precedes 3241.txt. I'd prefer the old way where the "3" precedes the "7". Any way to change this?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI was wondering if you know if there is a way to improve Vista's Video Preview on the Details Pane.
The problem I see is that Vista shows the very 1st second of video, while Windows 7 shows the 4th. That's why many of the video previews on the details pane show a black screen on vista instead of actual video.
just god a new top-end audio interface and using cubase 4. I'm not sure which is causing the blue sceen. I've tried looking in the event viewer and can't see any details about the system failure. write debugging info is set to minidump. is there some other way to check the crash info in a log? or what are the best settings for "startup and recovery"

I go to Windows Explorer -> Organize ->Folders and Search Options -> View Tab Then i am in a folder that I've manually chosen as "Details".. and i hit "Apply to Folders" button. Well it seems to go away after a while and the folders start showing things in gimp-mode (ie not details mode).

(Though that doesn't mean one hasn't been posted; my searching skills may just be crappy.) Regardless, has anyone had this, or a similar issue, occur? Or does anyone know how to add your own "details" to choose from so I can get it back manually? I saw this: Folder Size for Windows Explorer. I probably need something along those lines, but for the size option instead... View 9 Replies View RelatedWhen I click on a folder, then look down in the Details Pane at the bottom it shows the number of files in the folder but NOT the accumulative file size total.
I also noticed the same thing when I had the Recycle Bin Folder open.
I am the only user on my laptop. I accepted the Toshiba settings when I bought the machine, but I realise that there are a number of features that are disabled that (as an administrator) I should be able to use. for example:
1. Windows Defender will show me the details of start-up programs but not allow me to remove/enable/disable anything (the buttons are greyed-out/disabled).
2. There are some folders (e.g. in my internet favourites) which are read-only and when I switch read-only off, it ignores what I've done - they remain read-only.
First time poster, long time reader. I just built a custom pc. Everything is working great, except Vista. The problem however is not too big, but I'm still curious. When I open the Welcome Center and click on the "Show more Details" tab to the right, it says that everything is "Not Available." I'll include a screen shot as well.

View 8 Replies View RelatedI keep getting these spam emails from random valid email addresses telling me I have X amount of dollars waiting for me in a online casino. Every time i delete and block the emails address i get another from another email address generated. Its obviously spyware, I have run AVG and spybot and it hasnt fixed the problem. I cant adjust my spam filters cause sometimes theres important emails which get IDd as SPAM by accident. Is there anyway to fix this?

However the folder for email is now on his desktop, and is called Old Email backup. I know that one of these days he is going to delete it and wonder where his email went. What is the default folder it should have created the email in? I will move it there.

Control panel default settings will not allow option to disable Windows Mail. (grayed out). Register Hotmail software says only Vista but I am using Vista. View 5 Replies View RelatedWhen I receive email the text is there but the pictures are not. Sometimes I get the red X and other times nothing. But if I do a select all the blank space turns blue as if something is there. When I get mail from ex. USAJobs, the entire body of the email is blank. Some others the text directing me to "having trouble viewing this email click here" and then it takes me to their website. I have the block pics box unchecked and I am running vista with PCTools Spyware doctor. Also email from friends and family the pictures show up with no problems. The only problem I am having is from commercial sites. And yes I even added them to my allow list.
