The UAC Control Stops 2 Programs And I'm Not Able To Let These Programs Load With

Mar 26, 2008

I use Vista 32 Ultimate and I have this problem during the startup of Windows: The UAC control stops 2 programs and I'm not able to let these programs load with UAC control active. Tried everything also in Windows defender but no success. I must always confirm and let run these programs clicking on the UAC block tray icon that appear during the load of these 2 programs. Someone tell me that these programs blocked by UAC must be updated from the developers to pass the UAC.

All 32x Programs Suddenly Stops Working, I Have Business 64x.

Jul 27, 2009

when I login to the one I use most of the time, I notice that Firefox wont work, there is no error, actually, it starts but nothing happens, its just blank, it says "Done" in the bottom left corner, but it is nothing in the Firefox window. And when I close FF I get a error;

"Firefox has stopped working
1.Check online for a solution and close the program
2.Close the program"

If I chose the 1st option I get this message "The exception enknown software exception (0xc0000005) occurred in the application at location 0x02ff8cf0. Click on OK to terminate the program." Then I tried IE (32x), same thing there, so I try IE 64x, it worked. Also I tried to restart my switch, ping some webpages, release / renew IP. There was no difference. I also tried System Restore, but I could only restore to about 15 minutes back in time, wich was when I turned on my comuter today.

Then I tried to start some games to see if it worked, first Peggle Deluxe, that worked fine. Then WoW, that did not work fine at all. The first thing that is wrong is that when I start WoW the launcher says "Cannot connect to the News Server. Please check the network and try again later." I pressed play anyways, just to see what happens, and what happens is that the screen turns dark, Winamp is still playing music, but no sound from WoW, and alt + tab doesnt work, same with the windows button or alt+ f4. but ctrl+alt+del works. so I was able to close the program, it wasnt responding either ofc..................

Ive been having a few problems with uninstalling some programs via the add/remove programs tool. For example I have been trying to uninstall Itunes and everytime I do Windows installer says it is preparing to remove and then it stops and a window come up that says "The system administrator has set policies to prevent this installation." and then another one says I do not have sufficient access to uninstall Itunes and to please contact system administrator.

So I spoke to a friend how recommended this forum subject and I followed the Take Ownership steps a few times but to no avail it still does the same thing. I can't update Itunes untill this one is uninstalled!!!!!

Error '372' Failed To Load Control 'MMControl' From Mci32.ocs

Feb 6, 2009

I play a PBE game called VGAPlanets-4 (VGAP4) and an excellent programmer has been making updates, changes, fixes etc... to the original code which was compiled with VB5 I belive. The new code is being written with VB6. The problem is that in order to take benifit of all the new whistles and bells of the new code I need to put a version of "mci32.ocx" into the Windows/System32 directory. I do so and get an error:

"Run-time error '372': Failed to load control 'MMControl' from mci32.ocs. Your version of mci32.ocx may be outdated. Make sure you are using the version of the control that was provieded with your application." I've tried to use regsvr32 to register the ocx but no luck. I've tried multiple versions of the file, no luck. It worked under XP SP3 after using regsvr32.............

Programs Vs. Programs X86

Apr 28, 2010

In Vista, when I need to add software manually, I'm unsure whether to place it in Programs, or Programs X86. A local retailer tells me that Windows 7 doesn't have the programs divided into these two sections, and doesn't know what 'X86' means. I've looked through the contents of both and can't discern a pattern that offers any clues. What's this about?

Will Not Run Any Programs

Nov 27, 2008

I was wondering if anyone knows what is wrong with my laptop.. Recently my roommates and I got Left 4 Dead, and while playing it would constantly crash to my desktop. It wasn't that big a deal because I could just get back on, but when I shut my computer off, it seemed to have corrupted something, as now I can't do anything on it. One of my roommates had the same thing, where after a restart his screen was messed up, but he was able to clear the problem by installing new graphics drivers. I uninstalled mine and reinstalled new ones, but that didn't fix the problem. I tried it again, but I couldn't get on the internet to get new drivers, so it's using the crappy basic ones. I don't know if this is the right place, and you probably need more info, so feel free to ask me more....I have tried to run a chkdsk, but it will not run at startup (just goes straight to logon). I have been following tutorials around this site, but to no avail. I think I'll give it a few hours then try again and check back here,

Default Programs

Mar 11, 2010

I had a virus a couple of weeks ago and had it removed, but since the removal my computer won't open up any programs without going through default programs. If I click an icon on my desktop default programs pops up and I have to find the right program to open the programs with. I was reading some other posts and saw one that suggested that I download PC Medkit, I did it and it did not work. So now I'm out $40 and my computer still isn't functioning properly. Any suggestions would be extremely helpful.

Anyone know how to restore this on Windows Vista?I can't open MOST of my files (especially critical ones), let alone Internet Explorer or Firefox, only this Safari browser! :o

Somehow my Trash Bin icon has disappeared from my desktop and I can't even
click on the Change Desktop Icons link after I right-click -> Personalize

IP Email Sent To Programs

Jun 5, 2008

My IP which is Windstream (formerly Alltel) is where I 'go' to 1st check my email so that I 'use THEIR servers' protection to weed out virus, etc.; Windstream says once I 'open' the program, it immediately 'dumps' it into my email program. However, it is sending it to IncrediMail (and NOT to Microsoft Office Outlook 2007). Do I HAVE to 'uninstall' "IncrediMail"? I like some of its 'features', but it gets slow. The 'gold pearl' button that 'shows up in Microsoft Office Outlook 2007 is gone...so apparently I do NOT get my email 'dumped' there and I think I'd rather have it there. Using VISTA Business on a 64x2 dual core processor w/3GB of memory. This is getting 'old' and my 'contacts' and/or address book is NOT the same in any of the 3 email programs and I can't seem to get 'information' from one to another. What am I doing wrong?

Run DBase III Programs In A 32-bit?

May 7, 2009

I recently had someone load VMware Workstation 6 on my new Dell desktop, which uses a Vista 64-bit platform. I now have the capability to run a Vista 32-bit platform by clicking on a desktop icon (situated on the 64-bit platform). I need occasionally to run dBase III programs in a 32-bit environment, which obviously a 64-bit environment will not tolerate. I connect to the Internet on a wireless basis, using a RangeMax Wireless-N USB 2.0 Adapter. This Internet connection works fine on the 64-bit platform. In the 32-bit environment, I am able to make a local network connection, but I am not able to connect to the Internet. When in Windows Explorer (32-bit platform), I do not see any USB ports enabled. The individual who installed the VMware said that I should not need a USB port in the 32-bit setup to connect to the Internet. Has anyone had any experience using VMware and establishing Internet connections from other than the base platform?

Running 32 Bit Programs In 64 Bit?

May 8, 2009

I am considering a purchase of a new PC running Windows Vista 64 bit. I have some questions.

Will some of my 32 bit programs run on Vista 64 bit? I am thinking about Firefox 3 and Thunderbird 2 especially. Does Vista 64 have a compatibility mode where I can run 32 bit applications? If yes, does the compatibility mode actually work?

I am planning on some multimedia work recording music and video. I know that I need a second hard drive. One for the OS and one to record to. The model of PC that I am considering has a RAID configuration using two hard drives. How would these drives appear to me in Vista 64 bit? As one drive? As two? If it is one drive, can I set a partition to have the two drives I need? If so, are partitions difficult to setup?

What are your opinions on the 64 bit system? Is this the future and eventually everything will be going 64 bit, or will it fade out as a good idea that never happened? The PC I am looking at is expensive and I wish to know if it will be useful for a long time.

Is Vista 64 going to be the current OS and more and more companies will be supporting it? Is Vista going to be around for a long time? I am seeing buzz about Windows 7. When would Windows 7 be out and would it require 64 bit?
