Sticky Notes Mistakenly Deleted From All Programs
Feb 21, 2009
I got myself into a little predicament. I was messing around dragging sticky note off the start menu and onto "objectdock" (if you know about it it's like the mac os dock for vista). So, from here to there I end up deleting it from the all programs menu but I still have the shortcuts. How can I restore the original shortcut the used to be in all programs menu? The program still runs and everything but I just want it back in the menu

I just noticed today that when I try to run the Snipping Tool, I get this
error:
THE SNIPPING TOOL IS NOT WORKING ON YOUR COMPUTER RIGHT NOW. RESTART YOUR COMPUTER, AND THEN TRY AGAIN. IF THE PROBLEM PERSISTS, CONTACT YOUR SYSTEM ADMINISTRATOR.
I've been running Vista Ultimate for about a year now, and installed SP1 this week.
Restarting doesn't fix, I've also tried adding/removing the TABLET PC OPTIONAL COMPONENTS in the Windows Features On/Off control panel. This doesn't help. I even went to the extreme of uninstalling SP1 to no avail.
I also notice that I get the same error as above with Sticky Notes:
Sticky Notes IS NOT WORKING ON YOUR COMPUTER RIGHT NOW. RESTART YOUR COMPUTER, AND THEN TRY AGAIN. IF THE PROBLEM PERSISTS, CONTACT YOUR SYSTEM ADMINISTRATOR.(80004005)
And Windows Journal too!
WINDOWS JOURNAL CANNOT START. THERE WAS AN ERROR INITIALIZING INKING
COMPONENTS.
The ONLY function in the Tablet PC that works is Tablet PC Input Panel. Well it runs, but neither of the TOOLS or HELP pull down menus work.
I've seen others with the same Snipping Tool error while searching google, but never found a fix. For some people they had to reinstal the whole OS, but even then the errors came back after a while.

Several days ago there was a large number of updates available to download. I allowed the system to update all of them. Three, KB974234, KB972581 and KB973709 it was shown on the update history page as failing to download. Reading as to a possible solution, I tried to load them manually, saving those files to my desktop, right clicking on each, to run as an administrator. After each loaded I got a message telling me they were already installed on my system. My question is why does the "failure" notice remain on my history page and how can I delete those three file entries?

I just bought a new 64 bit computer with 4GB RAM and 3.1 GHz AMD Athlon64 AM2 Dual Core 6000+. Also got Windows Vista Home Premium 64 Bit. But my problem is that the sound is awful, it sounds like tapes in a cassette player when the batteries are running down, with added dropouts and crackles, especially when I minimise the media player when playing audio files, (i've tiried WMP, VLC, Zoom and WinAmp). Any videos I stream on the net also sound like this. AVI's also have poor sound quality and can also be "sticky" the picture not running smoothly.
My soundcard is fine, i've run different ones on the machine and they all sound like this, my amp, cables and speakers are working perfectly too. I never use more than 1.5GB RAM and about 20% of the CPU according to TaskManager.

As I am entering info my computer just randomly opens a new blank browser page, or the screen image shrinks, or the font changes in an email. Doesn't happen all the time. The "T" key seems to be the problem because it quits functioning until I click on the point where I was typing. This is a real problem since T is a commonly used letter and it is part of my name so it comes up in login situations. There might be other letters involved but this one is the most noticeable. Is it a sticky key problem?

how i can get this darn EZStickyNotes folder to stop returning t oMyDocuments folder every month after i delete it!Also,i found last month an EZListings.BSA that may or may not be related in c:/administrator/appdata/local/temp. This is getting old and i want to know how to get rid of these items permanently. I understand from barman58 in a seperate thread from awhile back, EZStickyNotes folder appears out of nowhere in Documents folder! that the ezstickynotes folder has something to do with a shareware program he gave a link to. How it got there is a mystery to me since i didn't install it, but some program installed it,apparently, and didn't leave any way for me to uninstall it if i didn't want it. I searched my computer for the easy sticky note program, but it isn't on my computer. I always do a scan of my computer with avast, malwarebytes, superantispyware, and windows defender after finding the ezstickynotes folder for viruses, etc and it always comes up clean.

I do not want to see any of the programs at the top of the list of All Programs (especially Internet Explorer). I just want to see the program folders listed, preferably sorted by newest or most recently modified first, by alphabetically would be OK. How to get rid of the 8 programs shown in here? Thanks.

Ive been having a few problems with uninstalling some programs via the add/remove programs tool. For example I have been trying to uninstall Itunes and everytime I do Windows installer says it is preparing to remove and then it stops and a window come up that says "The system administrator has set policies to prevent this installation." and then another one says I do not have sufficient access to uninstall Itunes and to please contact system administrator.
So I spoke to a friend how recommended this forum subject and I followed the Take Ownership steps a few times but to no avail it still does the same thing. I can't update Itunes untill this one is uninstalled!!!!!

I use Vista 32 Ultimate and I have this problem during the startup of Windows: The UAC control stops 2 programs and I'm not able to let these programs load with UAC control active. Tried everything also in Windows defender but no success. I must always confirm and let run these programs clicking on the UAC block tray icon that appear during the load of these 2 programs. Someone tell me that these programs blocked by UAC must be updated from the developers to pass the UAC.

I've been using Windows Mail for 18 months without any significant problems.
Now, when I delete an email from my "Inbox," it does NOT appear in my "Deleted Items" folder. It just seems to disappear. I did read many of the earlier posts and have tried the suggestions. I've gone to Tools>Options>Advanced>Maintenance - the "Empty messages from the Deleted Items folder on exit" is NOT checked. I've also gone to Current View "Show all messages" - that's identified/checked. Is there something else that I can do? I'd appreciate any suggestions. This is the first time I've used
the Discussion Group, so I hope that I'm doing this correctly.

My system had Parite.B virus, so I downloaded Panda utility to delete it. After running it, it shows this in details window:
Deleting File: C:WindowsSystem32Wininit.exe
Modifying File "C:WindowsWin.ini", section: "windows"
I checked my system32 folder, and for now wininit.exe is there. its size is 95kb. I am afraid if this file got deleted, I wont be able to log-on to windows again. Same thing has happened to my friend in past where Norton deleted some crucial file in System32 folder, then whole system needed to be reformatted and reinstalled. I cant understand if the file that is still present in my system32 folder will stay or be deleted later as the utility said. what can I do now to protect myself from situation that might arise if this file got deleted?

Our community centre has WiFi with WEP security. When I try to connect to it using my Win7 netbook, it does not offer any opportunity to enter a password, then it thinks for about 1 minute, then issues afailure message (I am writing this from memory at home, so I can't recall the exact wording of the error message). IIRC, I had tried to connect at some point in the past and may have entered an incorrect password. I would like to delete the network entirely and ensure that Windows is starting from scratch to connect to this network. However, I can't find anywhere that the network can be deleted. Nothing about this network appears in the Network and Sharing Centre.

I reinstalled Vista (x64 ultim., in Italian) upon a previous installation, then another time, 'cause the previous one went bad (drivers' issues; black screen); so I've got "windows.old" and a "windows01.old" folders. I easily deleted the latter, then I rebooted and tried to delete the former. Thus I hit "DEL", and deleted the folder (some 10 gb). Thereafter I rebooted, but... windows.old is still there on the root! Thus I tried to delete it, but the prompt said (I approximate a "translation" from italian to English) "impossible to find the item; it is no more present in c:. please check the item's path and try again" OMG! But how! I see it! It is still there! What can I do please? I want to remove it at all costs; it is like a challenge, 'cause I feel very frustrated that I have installed a OS behaving such a way!

I manually deleted an .dll which was infected (according to my anti virus software), the file was somewhere in AppData/Local, and its tag was "byXPGWpn.dll". Now every time I log on to Windows Vista a warning dialog appears informing that the file wasn't found. I restore the system to a previous point, but nothing happened. What does this file do? Should I replace it? If so: Ho do I get it?
