How should I share a calendar in windows calendar with my wife so that we both are able to add and edit apointments in it (both having the same rights)? Is it posible to sync with Live Calendar so that we can add and edit appointments in Windows calendar that will be reflected inLive calendar?
View 4 RepliesI have windows vista home premium and two users accounts on the pc. Is there a way for my calendar to be viewed and /or updated by the other user on this pc? I have outlook 2003 and I know that I can't set up my calendar for sharing to someone on another pc without going thru an exchange server. However, I was hoping that because my wife and I were both users on the same pc that she would be able to have access to my calendar when she was signed on in her own account. Also, because I can't share my calendar without going thru an exchange server I was hoping to be able to export my master calendar that I have on an older XP desktop and bring in onto my vista laptop. For some reason even though the export files seems to have all my entries, it only puts some of the items into my calendar on the vista laptop.

I have had several occasions when Windows Calendar did not pop up with appointments until a day or two had gone by and it then informs me that the appointment or whatever is x days overdue. Not very helpful obviously. My computer was on and logged in at least once on the days of the appointment. Another problem. Because of the afore-mentioned problem I put Windows Calendar in my Startup folder so I would be forced to see the calendar when I first log in. I have had a couple of crashes now apparently related to this. Once the calendar wouldn't close and the second time the computer froze after displaying the calendar; I was forced to do an unstructured shutdown; and this in turn generated raid 1 disk problems that took hours to be resolved.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI'm using Vista and have Windows Mail and Calendar. I bought my laptop at Office Depot. In the calendar view, on the left, the top box shows the current month, the box under it has: Calendars, then under that heading; Office Depot Calendar, and the box is checked. If I uncheck it and then try to enter an appointment in the calendar, a message comes up; You cannot add appointments to a calendar that is disabled. Does this mean there are other calendars, and if so, how do I access or 'enable' them? I don't really care
for this 'Office Depot' calendar/
Haven't gotten any response so I'll try again. A serious problem I am having with Vista calendar is that it is frequently not alerting me to appointments/events. Sometimes days will go by and abruptly I'm presented with a list of past due items. There may be a "good" reason for this happening but I can't imagine what it is as I log into the account associated with the calendar at least once a day. I have been running with the option "Reminders should show when Windows Calendar is not running" set. Also, is there any way to truly share a calendar between users on the same machine? I've used the sharing options but always end up with copies of the calendar and they don't update themselves when another user makes a change.

I have shared the Windows calendar on the one machine and published the = calendar to a folder on my Data drive that is accessible to all machines = via the home network. The other drives on the same machine can access = the calendar by subscribing to it. But, when I tried to subscribe to = that ics file from one of the other machines via the home network it = does not work. It can access the folder and file, but, it will not = subscribe to it when I enter it into the subscription line.=20 What do I need to do to be able to share this published calendar by all = the machines. They each have the same version of Vista installed.=20

View 5 Replies View RelatedIf you change the name of your computer (under Control PanelSystem and MaintenanceSystem), then the scheduled task that Windows Calendar has will NOT be updated with the new name of the computer. The result is that this scheduled task does not run properly when it is supposed to, and when you open up the Task Scheduler, you get an error popping up in Task Scheduler:
"An error has ocurred for the task Reminders - {User Name}. Error message: The specified account name is not valid."

Network of two computers, a desktop running vista home premium and a laptop running vista basic. I am the only user on each of the computers, my user account name is the same on both computers and I don't need a password to log on. File sharing is 'on', password protected sharing is 'off', and I have shared the 'documents' folder on both machines
When I view my network I see both computers "PAUL-PC" and PAUL-LAPTOP", when I select the one I'm not working on I see "Users", "Documents" and "Printers". When I select "Documents" I see "\PAUL-LAPTOPDocuments is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resource....... etc."
I have read the messages of sharing Vista (Home Premium) and WindowsXP SP2. I am trying to set up a network between my desktop computer (OS WindowsXP SP2) and my HP Pavilion dv6690ej laptop (OS Vista Home Premium Hebrew edition). Both computers use the Windows Firewall. The router is the Siemens SL2-141 Modem router. The desktop computer is connected to the router through a Lan connection while the laptop is connected by a wireless connection.
The problem: Both computers are configured to have the same workgroup: MSHOME. While the WindowsXP computer recognizes the folders in the laptop (Vista), and can open the folders and files, the laptop recognizes the existence of the logical drives and folders in the desktop, but does not allow to open them, giving a message (freely translated from Hebrew): "There is no possibility to access the drives or folders in the XP desktop because maybe you do not have permission do so. Contact to the Network manager(?) to see if you have an access permission. There is not enough storage? to operate this process"
They were sharing a printer but now Vista is not seeing the printer. When I try to "add a printer" on Vista I get the following message: windows cannot connect to the printer. Make sure that you typed the name correctly and that the printer is connected to the network.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI am having is I cannot acess my laptop with windows sharing/networking.I am trying to share files and printers between my Dexktop PC and my Laptop.My desktop PC is connect to a router with DNS by cable and the laptop is connected by Wi-Fi.Both computers belong to the same workgroup(WORKGROUP).Both computers have password protected public folder and printer sharing,file sharing,network discovery,and password protected sharing enabled. Both computers do have shared files and printers.What's happening is from the laptop the desktop(RK-PC)appears and I can share files and printers flawlessly and very quickly.However from the desktop while the laptop (RYANK-MOBILE) appears it cannot be accessed at all.Also the desktop is vista 64 bit and the laptop is vista business.I saw another thread with the same problem but the response pointed to a tome of an article that explained every single facet of windows sharing down to the way the packets are constructed.To be honest I don't have time to read 100 pages on windows sharing and there is no way the problem is the complicated.None of the suggestions I read in the first five pages or so helped at all any ways.I tried changing netBIOS from default to disabled on both PCs but after doing this the result was normal function on the laptop as before but the desktop could no longer even see/discover the laptop on the network.

It used to be that when I put in a future event in Vista Calendar it would pop up a notification screen for me at the designated time whether I opened Calendar or not. Now it only pops up the notification if I actually open up Calendar itself, which I may not do until after the event has past. How can I correct this.

View 6 Replies View RelatedThere are similar threads, but I might be lucky enough to have a twist on the problem. I have a PST with a main calendar ("Work Calendar"). I created 2 calendars under this (Cal1, Cal2). At this point, I want to delete my work calendar and just use Cal1 and Cal2. I moved Cal1 and Cal2 out from under "Work" to the main PST level. However, the option to delete the work calendar is still greyed out. Unfortunately, all 3 are in the same PST. And now, my MobileMe sync with my iPhone shows my calendars as blank since I presume nothing is under the "Work" calendar! THis is not fun.

When I right click on the calendar to delete it (in the navigation pane), the menu option to delete the calendar is greyed out and it won't allow me to delete it.
