My pop up reminders on my windows calendar have quit working when the calendar is not active. When I access the calendar, the reminders then pop-up to tell me that the reminder is overdue. I have tried to fix this in the task scheduler, but the task scheduler is so confusing that I have no idea how to work it. OS=Vista

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have an Acer Aspire 5100. Mostly it works good with Vista Home Premium w/updates except the new SP1. Sometime ago the touchpad quit working and I just lived with it until today when I had a little time to investigate. In Device Manager it says the device is working properly. It also say its a touchpad on PS/2 port using IRQ12. I downloaded the latest driver suite from syaptics.com (5.2MB for the Vista 32 bit version) and ran it after disabling the device, enabling the device, uninstalling the current driver, restarting and having Vista reinstall the old drivers with no luck.
However, after running the new driver suite (an .exe file) and restarting Vista, the device showed disabled. When I enabled it - the touchpad worked momentarily (about 5 or 6 seconds). Every time I disable or enable it, it responds and works for about 5 or six seconds and then quits. No option to change the port or IRQ setting as they are 'grayed out'.

If I choose NOT to install a particular update, is the damned icon going to sit in my system tray and keep NAGGING me until I do, or is there a way to make it go away - without turning off Updates completely. There is an IE update which I don't care to add because I don't use IE, but when I choose not to install it, the icon won't go away.

Dial-up connection (one computer only) Very slow and very old school but it was working until last night. Now the diagnose and repair msg tells me "A cable is not plugged into the network adapter "Local Area Connection". The phone is fine, so is the fone line. Hooked up my brother's even older computer to internet just fine. Will not even give me a dial tone. External modem blue light is on, no problem with the external wires...I don't have wireless or router, etc., just phone line.

I have 3 hp printers installed, as I need a printer in various work locations ... all of the printers have worked fine for 6 months. Now, all of the sudden, with no error messages/popups/etc. they have all quit working. My USB ports are functioning with all other devices and the printers work fine with any other pc. The printers will read "ready" and the file will show as printing, but nothing happens. When I initially plug the printers into the usb, I get an error sound, but no pop-up. I have tried deleting one of the printers, but I got no usb printer recognition to re-install it, so I restored to a point before the printer issues and the printer is back in the printers folder, but still doing nothing.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have just installed Quake 4 on Vista 64 Ultimate with the latest 1.4.2 patch. When i go into single player mode the game will just sit there with a black screen and then quit to my desktop with a little pop up on my start menu saying "the video driver has stopped responding". Last time i played this on Vista i was able to play single player no problem, but it would still do the same, but during game play. So i thought i install it again and give it another try, but it still does the same thing. Also i'm running the latest beta 169.09 drivers with a 8800gtx.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have an issue with a custom TSP written in C++. It should be used by outlook to make a call. It works fine under windows xp, but under Vista it doesn't. I am not sure which is the problem because I am able to add it in the Advanced tab from Phone and Modem options and I am able to select it from the New Call dialog from Outlook to use it as a line. When I press Start call i receive an error "An internal error occurred in the automatic phone dialer. Close the dial phone box and then open it again". Also, using the dialer.exe application from microsoft I am unable to use it. The following error shows: "An internal error occured in Phone Dialer. Quit and restart Phone Dialer."

I have windows vista home premium and two users accounts on the pc. Is there a way for my calendar to be viewed and /or updated by the other user on this pc? I have outlook 2003 and I know that I can't set up my calendar for sharing to someone on another pc without going thru an exchange server. However, I was hoping that because my wife and I were both users on the same pc that she would be able to have access to my calendar when she was signed on in her own account. Also, because I can't share my calendar without going thru an exchange server I was hoping to be able to export my master calendar that I have on an older XP desktop and bring in onto my vista laptop. For some reason even though the export files seems to have all my entries, it only puts some of the items into my calendar on the vista laptop.

Now it only pops up the notification if I actually open up Calendar itself, which I may not do until after the event has past. How can I correct this.
View 9 Replies View RelatedThere are similar threads, but I might be lucky enough to have a twist on the problem. I have a PST with a main calendar ("Work Calendar"). I created 2 calendars under this (Cal1, Cal2). At this point, I want to delete my work calendar and just use Cal1 and Cal2. I moved Cal1 and Cal2 out from under "Work" to the main PST level. However, the option to delete the work calendar is still greyed out. Unfortunately, all 3 are in the same PST. And now, my MobileMe sync with my iPhone shows my calendars as blank since I presume nothing is under the "Work" calendar! THis is not fun.

I have had several occasions when Windows Calendar did not pop up with appointments until a day or two had gone by and it then informs me that the appointment or whatever is x days overdue. Not very helpful obviously. My computer was on and logged in at least once on the days of the appointment. Another problem. Because of the afore-mentioned problem I put Windows Calendar in my Startup folder so I would be forced to see the calendar when I first log in. I have had a couple of crashes now apparently related to this. Once the calendar wouldn't close and the second time the computer froze after displaying the calendar; I was forced to do an unstructured shutdown; and this in turn generated raid 1 disk problems that took hours to be resolved.

In the calendar view, on the left, the top box shows the current month, the box under it has: Calendars, then under that heading; Office Depot Calendar, and the box is checked. If I uncheck it and then try to enter an appointment in the calendar, a message comes up; You cannot add appointments to a calendar that is disabled. Does this mean there are other calendars, and if so, how do I access or 'enable' them? I don't really care

Haven't gotten any response so I'll try again. A serious problem I am having with Vista calendar is that it is frequently not alerting me to appointments/events. Sometimes days will go by and abruptly I'm presented with a list of past due items. There may be a "good" reason for this happening but I can't imagine what it is as I log into the account associated with the calendar at least once a day. I have been running with the option "Reminders should show when Windows Calendar is not running" set. Also, is there any way to truly share a calendar between users on the same machine? I've used the sharing options but always end up with copies of the calendar and they don't update themselves when another user makes a change.

When I right click on the calendar to delete it (in the navigation pane), the menu option to delete the calendar is greyed out and it won't allow me to delete it. I have shared the Windows calendar on the one machine and published the = calendar to a folder on my Data drive that is accessible to all machines = via the home network. The other drives on the same machine can access = the calendar by subscribing to it. But, when I tried to subscribe to = that ics file from one of the other machines via the home network it = does not work.
