May 26, 2008I want to do a screen catpure of a WMV file to load into a ppt. I don't want to insert the entire movie, just capture an image.

Select Dazzle 170 As Capture Device, Get Blue Screen
Jun 8, 2008I have Vista preminm with 3 gig of ram. I installed Dazzle video creator platinum. I installed reccommended updates from Pinnacle. Whenever I start Instant DVD recorder and select Dazzle 170 as the capture device I get the blue screen and it restarts my puter,EVERY TIME. Does anyone know how to fix this.

Mar 24, 2008I am building a new system and have a new copy of Vista Home Premium 32bit.
I got it all put together and tried to load Vista. It got to the Windows is loading files screen and then screen in getting black video. Keyboad and mouse stopped working at times. So I updated the board BIO's per intel through iso image and same thing. So I tried installing XP and got to the F8 screen to accept lic. and it just reboots everytime.
Any ideas why Vista would stop? Added the info about the XP install so it may help.

Apr 27, 2009This problem is all over the web, on dozens of forums, and nobody has ever had a satisfactory answer.
Why is it, that we cannot capture HDV video via FireWire with Vista? If I have a HDV tape in my camera (A canon xh-a1), and I turn it into VCR mode, Vista makes a chime, but the autoplay does not pop up. I cannot capture using Premiere or Sony Vegas. It says there's no camera connected.
If I have a regular DV tape in my camera, and I hit play on that tape so the signal changes to regular DV, then windows chimes and the autoplay box pops up! I can then capture regular DV with Premiere or Vegas.
I didn't buy the $3000 HDV camera to capture standard-def though. It's why I also built my Vista box as well. There is a third party program called HDVSplit that allows you to capture HDV with no preview.
Adobe, and Sony, and Canon, say that it's a problem with the Vista fire wire drivers. Asus also points at Microsoft's fire wire drivers for Vista.
The question is: Why hasn't Microsoft issued updated firewire drivers in the last 3 or 4 years? This problem is widespread. Google it! It's everywhere.
If anyone knows of any third-party FireWire drivers that fix the problem, I'm all ears.

Jun 21, 2008I have a problem with the the capture of my video into Windows Movie Maker. I have now recaptured the video again after ensuring that all othe programmes on the computer are disabled, however the problem still persists. During the actual capture process the video runs at normal speed and there are no fluctuations in the speed during that process. I do notice that the capture display on the computer tends to stop and start from time to time, but I believe this is normal and does not indicate a problem.
Once the capture is complete and I play back scenes from my capture, then the speed of the playback varies all the time, sometimes running faster than original capture and again slower at other times. I am sure that I have read somewhere that this is not abnormal during the video editing phase. However the problem arises in that once you publish the video these speed variations are written into the published video and subsequently transfered to the DVD.
Need Compatible Video Capture Card

1. It needs to be vista64 compatible, and
2. Needs to be able to interface to a hi8 camcorder (aka s-video and rca audio)
I dont care if its an internal card, or a simple usb cable, as long as i can capture my soon to be deteriorated hi8 data. Im having trouble finding anything compatible with vista let alone vista64.

I have looked at the Dazzle Video Creator Platinum and am happy with the reviews but it doesn't have 64 bit drivers. So would do you guys recommend to me? If I have to I can buy the dazzle and just use it with my old xp machine but I would like one that I can use with my vistax64. I guess a tv tuner would also work but what software would I use to record and seperate one video stream in to two files?

I am using Debut Video Capture Software, by NCH Software, to capture You Tube videos. That is not the problem. My problem is sending them out as attachments. Output formats available are : avi, asf, wmv, mpg, 3gp, mp4 or mov. So far, and I have not tried all formats , mp4 is the one with the smallest size, small enough to e-mail as attachment. But it has to be played in RealPlayer. My recipients have Windows Media Player, and wmv format is too big in size, about almost 10 times larger than mp4.

Sep 20, 2008Wondering if anyone has a suggestion. When importing a DVR-MS file recorded using Windows Media Center into Windows Movie Maker, in order to convert it to a more compact WMV file, a green screen shows up in the preview pane on the right-hand side. The audio works -- but only green shows.
It's strange because the DVR-MS file plays fine within Windows Media Center.
System is a Dell XPS 410 running an ATI Radeon x1600 pro with the latest Certified driver from Windows Update (8.391.0.0 dated 6/26/2007).
There is a later driver available from ATI, 8.9, but before taking the risk up upgrading the driver, wonder if there's another setting that may be causing the green screen?

Jun 9, 2008I was sure to save my files every half hour or so, thinking that that would be enough to not lose my work in the event of a malfunction. However, I pressed save and my entire summary of work simply disappeared! Fair enough. I wouldn't be so angry, but this is the second time it has happened. The first time (on my previous computer), it completely erased 7 weeks of work. So, I got a new computer, and guess what? It has happened again. Not only that, but a BRAND NEW computer has had the blue screen of death twice in the last month. Before it died at 6 months of age, my last computer had the blue screen regularly (at least 3 times a week). This has never happened on any of my other computers before that.
This loss of work has also happened to 2 of my friends. I have also noticed, that
anything that makes the hard drive work hard, also results in blue screen. The only link that I can see between the 2 computers, is vista. I also find, that my computer has to think hard about all the appearance graphics and animations that have been put on Vista to make it look nice. I have simply ditched the niceties and opted for performance, even though my desktop now looks like window 95. What did I get? Blue screen............
Installation: Copying Files, Screen Black
Jun 14, 2009I very recently purchased a Compal KHLB2. I inserted the Vista Ultimate x64 disk and went to work installing it. It goes through the initial process just fine, copying the files, expanding and whatnot. However, after it has to restart it will go to the part where the screen is black with the words "Please wait while Windows sets up your computer...", finally make it past that and then get back to the Installing Windows Vista Ultimate x64 page. It will then stay on Copying Vista Ultimate x64 files for a bit and then blue-screen me. Under Technical Information is tells me 0x00000124.
