Ripping Process Track Skip Files

Mar 23, 2008

I have recently bought a MP3 player & have set about filling it with music using Windows Media Player, I have noticed that some albums seem to get unstable & skip a bit like a needle going across a record. The CD's are well looked after & not scratched. The problem seems to be somewhere in the ripping process as the tracks skip when played back on the PC, I have tried ripping the same albums on another PC with similar results so it's not anything to do with my CD Drive, I tend to think the CD's are read too fast but that's just my opinion. I'm not 100% sure but I think it may be long compilation albums IE. Greatest Hits that seem to be the main culprits,

Install Files, Not Process

I tried also with safe mode but it is not working.

Reports: Intel To Skip Vista Upgrade

Jul 1, 2008

Following a report Monday on the Inquirer, the New York Times reported Wednesday that Intel's IT department "found no compelling case" for upgrading.

And that's despite the fact that it's been nearly seven years since XP debuted. It's not a good thing, if your customers are electing to stick with 7-year-old technology. (In fairness, XP did get a fairly big update with Windows XP Service Pack 2, but even that is four years old at this point.)

Microsoft, which once predicted businesses would adopt Vista at twice the rate they moved to XP, has scaled back its ambitions and these days talks a lot about how long the adoption curve is for businesses when it comes to new operating systems.

Check Disk Wont Skip And Freezes

Jul 29, 2009

I'm running Windows Vista Ultimate x64. My computer boots up fine gets to the windows splash screen then does chkdsk and freezes after checking drive C:. Restarting causes it to get to the Windows splash screen again and run chkdsk and freeze after checking C:. I cannot get out of this loop as my keyboard stops working at the Windows splash screen. Even using a PS2 keyboard has the same result. I have tried the following: Going into the vista repair setup thing running command prompt and typing chkntfs /x c: d: e: and then restarting. it still runs chkdsk it still freezes and I still cannot skip chkdsk. I sheduled these myself but did not expect them to freeze. I cannot stop them from checking and every time I let it run through it freezes.

Best Free Ripping Program For CD?

Aug 7, 2009

I want is a good free ripping program that will rip CDs (and DVD if there is such an app.) and automatically place music in folders I set up on my external hard drive. These files are for my own listening/viewing pleasure. If there is a good ripper that costs, I'd consider that as well.

Media Player Not Burning,ripping, Or Syncing

Jan 3, 2009

just a few days ago I tried to burn a CD. when I try it tells me to connect aburning device and restart the program, however my burner is internal and there is no connecting it. I later discovered that it wont recognize that I even put a CD in. I've burned and ripped cd's in the past with no problems. I have Vista home premium with a 64X2 processor if that helps. Also about 2 years ago I got a insignia mp3 player. for a good 6 months it worked fine with my computer. then it started telling me that my computer didn't recognize the device and it wont sync up. I thaught it may be the mp3 player itself but it synced up with my friends computer just fine. I've since learned to live without syncing but no burning or ripping come on!

Can Split An Album Audio Track?

May 26, 2009

In 2001 I bought a stand alone CD recorder to transfer my vinyl collection. I am now in the process of ripping the resultant CDs and I thought this might be a good time to correct some of my early recording mistakes - the most common being that I forgot to manually increment track numbers. Is it possible to split a single WMA track into the original component tracks and, if so, how do I proceed?

Ultimate Install OEM 32-bit Lost Track

Mar 23, 2008

I am trying to Install Windows Vista Ultimate OEM 32-bit on my new build that I recently purchased. I have got to different stages and have had so many errors that I have lost track. I have got the BSOD numerous times and to be honest, I don't know why I decided to buy Vista.

I have got so far to the Hard drive drvers screen before I plugged in my USB memory stick and it stopped responding. After that, I haven't go as far. Sometimes I get a BSOD right after it has finished loading the files explaining to me that it couldn't write to the memory because it was read-protected. I haved also got to the language select screen but it doesn't respond. I've even got as far as the regristration key input (again) and I get a little pop-up box saying all sorts of errors. Is it my system which isn't compatible? (BTW my Vista is legal)

Rename A File Lose Track

Mar 26, 2009

1) Rename a file and you lose track of it due to the automatic sorting feature. In XP you controlled this behavior by hitting F5. Words cannot describe my frustration over this!
2) Quite often when you Alt+Tab to an Explorer window, the focus is gone and you must click the file area to be able to navigate with the keyboard.
3) The "Burn"-button and its friends cannot be removed. This is a travesty!
4) The new column-filter thingy is cool sometimes, but it should be possible to turn it off!
5) The new remaining feature is good, but it should be easier to select the file extension if wanted. I'd suggest hitting F2 a second time should select the entire filename. Where's the creativity?
6) When you open a folder the first file should be selected. Total Commander has done this correctly for years now. They never learn at MS?
7) The path found in the address field cannot be dragged and dropped, as in XP. This feature is especially useful when copying paths to a command prompt... sigh!
8) changed behavior from "up" to "back". Annoying, but OK since "Alt+Up" does what you want.
9) This stupid "Grade" column tends to pop up everywhere I have source code files.

System Restore, Lost Track

Mar 23, 2008

When I first bought my computer with Vista I have some really bad issues with the Norton and Mcaffe antivirus. I then downloaded Trend Micro. Between these three programs I ended up having some drivers removed etc.(that's been corrected). It was a huge mess and between customer support and tech. help from Trend Micro and e-machine I ended up removing programs that I was told were incompatable and needed to. They also had me doing so many system restores I lost track of where I had originally started. I do know for sure that I removed about 5 programs that were incompatible with Vista and AVG free edition was one of them. I am now using Windows Live OneCare anti virus and it has been doing well but recently I received an update and now I am getting an error that Widows Live OneCare is incapatiable with the AVG Free Edition that was once on my computer but was removed before one of system restores.

The AVG shows up in my list of programs in the 'add and remove programs' in the control panel and can be seen listed in my program files but if I try to remove it ( and I have tried many times) an error occurs because it was removed a long time ago. I have several programs that are like this but don't know how to keep them from showing up in my add/remove or in my program files. I tried contacting the support and help people that I bought the computer from ( e-machine) and also contacted support from Trend Micro as it was mostly their program that messed me up to start with, but both help and support personnel only made things worse.

I finally had to stop asking them for help as the advise they were giving me was totally insane. I don't even think there was a human being answering my emails from the type of answers I was getting back.Is it possible to get these programs from showing up and totally removed from my computer? I know the AVG can't be conflicting with my Windows Live OneCare because it was removed by going to the Add/remove and removing it but I don't like looking down and seeing that my anti-virus keeps showing it is at risk. I am not that experienced with computers but I think I could follow directions if someone had some " not to awfully technical advice" :o)

Rouge Process I Cannot Get Rid Of.

Mar 23, 2008

C:UsersUserAppDataLocalTempFLBPKKMMZXYZ.exe

This rouge process is listed is Services. I have managed to Disable it, however I'd like to remove entirely. I found it in the Registry, but I cannot find a way to remove it. I've done everything I know even in the Safe Mode and it will not let you delete, modify or whatever.

It has no Dependencies listed, the Service and Display names are the same "FLBPKKMMZXYZ"

When running Regedit I ran it as Admin, I tried to set permissions on the
Branch and was denied. Here is how it's listed.

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMControlSet001EnumRootLEGACY_FLBPKKMMZXYZ000]

"Service"="FLBPKKMMZXYZ"
"Legacy"=dword:00000001
"ConfigFlags"=dword:00000000
"Class"="LegacyDriver"
"ClassGUID"="{8ECC055D-047F-11D1-A537-0000F8753ED1}"
"DeviceDesc"="FLBPKKMMZXYZ"

The one thing I did do before trying to remove from it the Registry was
delete the file from AppDataLocalTemp. Could this be preventing me from
removing the Registry entry? I wouldn't think so, but it may be the first
time in my life I was wrong.

32-bit Process And Open Program, Nothing Happens

Feb 21, 2009

so this is the weirdest error ever. I installed SlySoft Virtual CloneDrive, as well as an update to Comodo Internet Security. Both installers wanted me to install an unsigned driver, then for me to reboot. After I rebooted, I could not open any 32-bit programs. I have no clue why. I uninstalled Virtual CloneDrive, but I still cannot open 32-bit programs. It's so weird, I can open 64-bit programs just fine, but I try to open a 32-bit program, nothing happens. If I boot into Safe Mode, I can open 32-bit (and 64-bit) programs, but I cannot open 32-bit programs normally.

Since I can run 32-bit programs in Safe Mode, I think it is a driver issue, or something that Safe Mode does not load that Vista does normally. Has anyone else had this problem? Does anyone know a fix?

VISTA Shrink Process.

Apr 18, 2009

I don't know where to start At the beginning I guess which seems like ages ago but it was only a few hours ago Okay, I wanted to shrink my 650gig C drive down to 85 or so. I read a tutorial on the net about how to do it and they said that you could do it by defragging with Perfect Disk, defragging the System Files with it, and then performing a few other steps which would allow you to shrink C to a lot smaller than the 350 gigs it was originally allowing me to do.

The steps were to turn off hibernation and delete the files, turn off system restore and delete files, and turn off the page file.Then perform a defrag and then a system file defrag on boot up, then shrink.

I did this and then repeated the "rinse, lather, repeat" about 3 times to get my C drive down to 85 gigs and leave the biggest part of my 750gig HD for archiving only. Seemed like a good idea at the time So the Shrink process went well. Each time I did a System File defrag with Perfect Disk, figuring that each time the drive shrunk, it could move the MFT file a little closer in thus allowing for more shrinkability. It seemed to work.

After I got C drive down to 85 gigs, I immediately restarted and re-stored my page file settings to "let Vista manage" it, and re-started System Restore and created a new restore point.

But when I re-set the page file I got the message: "Another page file exists, do you want to replace it with this one?" I said, sure, why not? I have a feeling I should have said no. But I moved on NOW I had a 600 gig unallocated section that I needed to format to NTFS. But Vista Disk Mgmt said I could not format it because I already had the limit of 4 partitions:

1. The EISA drive
2. OS C drive
3. Recovery Drive D - came with the Dell
4. Rip Process Download R - I created with Paragon Partition the other day
then
5. Unallocated - the partition I just created by shrinking C drive with Vista

I knew there was a limit on the number of partitions you could have, which is why I fired up Paragon Disc Manager, which is supposed to do this kind of thing...........

Slow Down Booting Process

Apr 8, 2008

Looks like my Vista x64 experience is a pain in the neck since the beginning. Here is the next one I am in front of: Vista needs from 5 to 10 minutes (sometimes maybe more but I do not have the patience to wait and I just switch off - switch on again). Once in Vista it works fast and I do not have any wait on starting application (Only Games), I can also say that once I put my user password, Vista is ready in few second including Wireless connection Network, but the Screen with the Scrooling Bar is the one which takes so long to disappear. If you see my rig, you'll deduce that cannot be a low Hardware performance. As I use it only for Gaming purpose I do not have much Application on Start-up. I do not even have a Anti-virus installed yet, which could slow down the Booting process. Shut down seems with no problem, faster than I am with XP Pro Sp2. Also weird result: If I restart my PC from Vista the BIOS does not detect anymore the DISC0, where dual Boot file are installed, so none of my OS can boot. I always have to Shut down Vista completly and Switch on again to have the BIOS detecting this HDD.

Slow Down Boot Up Process

Jul 7, 2008

my Vista booted with scrolling the green thingy about 7 times. Yesterday, all of a sudden, it started to boot with scrolling it about 20-25 times. I tried to turn off some programs to load with Windows (Steam, Adobe and iTunes). Also turned some services off/put to Manual (like Printer Spooler, iTunes Helper and so on), but that didn't help. When I installed Windows I found out that disabling service named Server made the boot time that short and it's still disabled. what might slow down the boot up process? I guess something related to network and networking services but I'm not sure.

Task Manager Can't End Process

Mar 18, 2009

I haven't been able to find any information on how to overcome this problem. When a third party software decides to 'stop responding' and I choose to "Close program", the application's window is closed, but the process is still running. If I select the persistent process and click the "End Process" button, the precess does not end; and there is no way I can force-close the process - except to restart the computer. I am currently using Vista Ultimate x64, and I'm the Administrator. I'm simply referring to processes of third-party software (e.g. Firefox,uTorrent,Opera etc...) Here's the strange thing: generally I can end any process through Task Manager, until the program decides to stop responding, that's when I am unable to end it's process.

How To Automate The Process Of A “final Check

Dec 9, 2009

I gather digital images (via e-mail) from members of our camera club. There are simple specification for filename, size and dimensions, but it’s amazing to variety of errors that are made. The files arrive over several days. I visual check for errors on a flow basis, but sometimes I don’t catch them all. I would like to automate the process of a “final check” of the complete batch before incorporating them into our PowerPoint application for the competition.

My OS is Vista. I know how to produce a list of filenames (Shift/RightClick, Copy as Path, etc), but I don’t know of a way to also capture other file attributes, such as size and dimensions. My idea is to create (maybe a Comma-Separated-Value file that I could import into Excel. Then it should be simple enough to use conditional formatting to flag the cells in error. Actually, filename and dimensions contain subfields, but my idea is to use a text editor on the csv file so that the subfields could be separated and therefore imported into separate cells in Excel.

Installation: Logon Process Failed

I have been having a problem with my Windows Vista Home Premium installation for the past week or so, with the problem getting more frequent day by day. I usually notice this happen after a period of inactivity, but the duration of the inactivity is seemingly random. Basically, I will come back to the computer to see that Firefox or whatever windows I might have open have stopped responding. I attempt to close with the X to no avail, then try to close using the Task Bar. When this fails, I try to open the Task Manager to close the program manually, only to lock up the computer for 45-60 seconds on a black screen, and then receive the message "Logon process has failed to create the security options dialog. Failure - Security Options". Clicking OK on this dialog takes me back to my now totally unresponsive computer. No windows can be closed by any means, and the computer must be turned off manually, which I hate doing.
