Sound Stuttering And Other Audio
Oct 7, 20071) Audio stutters every 30 seconds or so for about 3-4 seconds.
- I've tried updating BIOS, but I get the same "Internal Error" type message everytime, even though it's the correct version that's supposed to be compatible with Vista 64.
- I've tried updating the audio drivers. The only driver that worked was the version that's about 2 releases old because the newer versions all had random errors and didn't work with Vista (even though they said they were supposed to).
- I thought if I turned off some advanced audio processing features it would fix the problem, but I can't get Intel Audio Studio installed because it says "This is not the correct driver for this sysetem" even though it IS.
2) BIOS refuses to update, saying "There is an internal error" or something along those lines. I looked up that error message in Intel's readme and it said it's due to a lack of hard drive space--but I have 450 GB free!.......
Can Split An Album Audio Track?
May 26, 2009In 2001 I bought a stand alone CD recorder to transfer my vinyl collection. I am now in the process of ripping the resultant CDs and I thought this might be a good time to correct some of my early recording mistakes - the most common being that I forgot to manually increment track numbers. Is it possible to split a single WMA track into the original component tracks and, if so, how do I proceed?

Mar 23, 2008I am trying to Install Windows Vista Ultimate OEM 32-bit on my new build that I recently purchased. I have got to different stages and have had so many errors that I have lost track. I have got the BSOD numerous times and to be honest, I don't know why I decided to buy Vista.
I have got so far to the Hard drive drvers screen before I plugged in my USB memory stick and it stopped responding. After that, I haven't go as far. Sometimes I get a BSOD right after it has finished loading the files explaining to me that it couldn't write to the memory because it was read-protected. I haved also got to the language select screen but it doesn't respond. I've even got as far as the regristration key input (again) and I get a little pop-up box saying all sorts of errors. Is it my system which isn't compatible? (BTW my Vista is legal)
Rename A File Lose Track
Mar 26, 20091) Rename a file and you lose track of it due to the automatic sorting feature. In XP you controlled this behavior by hitting F5. Words cannot describe my frustration over this!
2) Quite often when you Alt+Tab to an Explorer window, the focus is gone and you must click the file area to be able to navigate with the keyboard.
3) The "Burn"-button and its friends cannot be removed. This is a travesty!
4) The new column-filter thingy is cool sometimes, but it should be possible to turn it off!
5) The new remaining feature is good, but it should be easier to select the file extension if wanted. I'd suggest hitting F2 a second time should select the entire filename. Where's the creativity?
6) When you open a folder the first file should be selected. Total Commander has done this correctly for years now. They never learn at MS?
7) The path found in the address field cannot be dragged and dropped, as in XP. This feature is especially useful when copying paths to a command prompt... sigh!
8) changed behavior from "up" to "back". Annoying, but OK since "Alt+Up" does what you want.
9) This stupid "Grade" column tends to pop up everywhere I have source code files.
System Restore, Lost Track
Mar 23, 2008When I first bought my computer with Vista I have some really bad issues with the Norton and Mcaffe antivirus. I then downloaded Trend Micro. Between these three programs I ended up having some drivers removed etc.(that's been corrected). It was a huge mess and between customer support and tech. help from Trend Micro and e-machine I ended up removing programs that I was told were incompatable and needed to. They also had me doing so many system restores I lost track of where I had originally started. I do know for sure that I removed about 5 programs that were incompatible with Vista and AVG free edition was one of them. I am now using Windows Live OneCare anti virus and it has been doing well but recently I received an update and now I am getting an error that Widows Live OneCare is incapatiable with the AVG Free Edition that was once on my computer but was removed before one of system restores.
The AVG shows up in my list of programs in the 'add and remove programs' in the control panel and can be seen listed in my program files but if I try to remove it ( and I have tried many times) an error occurs because it was removed a long time ago. I have several programs that are like this but don't know how to keep them from showing up in my add/remove or in my program files. I tried contacting the support and help people that I bought the computer from ( e-machine) and also contacted support from Trend Micro as it was mostly their program that messed me up to start with, but both help and support personnel only made things worse.
I finally had to stop asking them for help as the advise they were giving me was totally insane. I don't even think there was a human being answering my emails from the type of answers I was getting back.Is it possible to get these programs from showing up and totally removed from my computer? I know the AVG can't be conflicting with my Windows Live OneCare because it was removed by going to the Add/remove and removing it but I don't like looking down and seeing that my anti-virus keeps showing it is at risk. I am not that experienced with computers but I think I could follow directions if someone had some " not to awfully technical advice" :o)
Ripping Process Track Skip Files
Mar 23, 2008I have recently bought a MP3 player & have set about filling it with music using Windows Media Player, I have noticed that some albums seem to get unstable & skip a bit like a needle going across a record. The CD's are well looked after & not scratched. The problem seems to be somewhere in the ripping process as the tracks skip when played back on the PC, I have tried ripping the same albums on another PC with similar results so it's not anything to do with my CD Drive, I tend to think the CD's are read too fast but that's just my opinion. I'm not 100% sure but I think it may be long compilation albums IE. Greatest Hits that seem to be the main culprits,

Asus P5E Mobo (0702 bios *updated*)
Q6600 - 3.2 ghz prime stable
4gb munskin ram (default timings)
USB Headphones Microsoft LX-3000 (most up to date drivers installed)
My music player (WinAMP, iTunes) always stutter when I load a page off any browser (IE7,FireFox,GoogleChrome) after I left my computer on for a long time(4+ hours). I first thought it was ram that was affecting it but I'm not so sure. The longer I left my computer on the more likely it'll stutter, but I can fix about 98% of the stutter by rebooting my computer.
The stuttering only occurs when I load the page, but stops when the page finishes loading. Sites with more pictures will cause more stuttering, and this doesn't happen when I play any games.
Big Lag And Stuttering In Games
May 26, 2009In the last couple of days every game I play seems to lag after about 5 mins of game play. This is new and I have never had any problems with lag in my games.

Mar 23, 2008After searching the 'net for months, I have yet to come up with a solution to my dilemma. Here's the deal. I have a Vista Ultimate 32-bit desktop, running an Intel 3.0 GHZ CPU and 1 GB of RAM. Everytime I leave my computer on for hours (typically overnight) it starts this odd, stuttering behavior, where EVERYTHING stops for a split second, every second. Music, mouse, video, EVERYTHING. The entire computer just skips. The only fix I have is turning the power off on the back of the computer, then unplugging and replugging the power cord in. I am positive this is not a great thing for my computer, and I need to find a solution before any real damage is done. This only happens after a long time, and is not after a specific time (i.e. after 3-4 hours EVERY time). I was thinking it could be the RAM, but I don't know.

Jul 30, 2007The sound likes to stutter frequently, about like a lightly scratched CD - just a tiny hesitation every couple of seconds. It's brutally annoying. This happens no matter what media player I use for either audio or video (even when set to realtime priority), and occurs on the internal Sigmatel C-Major AC97 family chip (both with and without external speakers plugged into the headphone jack) as well as on my PCMCIA Creative SoundBlaster Audigy 2 ZS Notebook. I've got the latest drivers for both audio devices, and have also tried rolling back to previous versions.

Apr 10, 2009I can't think of a better way to describe this problem other than to say the PC stutters. I'm using Home Premium (fully patched) with Media Centre as a Home Theatre PC. this is overkill for a HTPC so there shouldn't be any capacity issues in the hardware.
Sometimes when playing back recorded shows the picture and sound start stuttering taking up to 10 seconds elapsed time to go through 2 seconds of recorded show. When this happens the mouse and other facilities (minimise window, etc) also seem to be jerking around instead of operating smoothly. When I play the show back later it is fine so it is not the recording. Also sometimes when recording shows there are blocks that are dropped from the recording that I assume are related to this.
I don't believe this is a Media Centre problem as similar things happen when Media Centre is not running. I have McAffee Total Protection 2009 for a firewall and anti-virus and this shows no viruses and no spyware. I have turned off scheduled scans so this shouldn't be the problem. I have also turned off disk indexing as I don't need it on a HTPC.
Audio Laggy, Stuttering, And Slow
May 5, 2009First time posting here so be gentle. I am having difficulties with audio which has stemmed back for some time almost a year before i started buying new hardware to "correct" the problem. I have read over many posts about stuttering/laggy/jittery audio, but none seem to give me an answer. When i play Bioshock, Command and Conquer Generals Zero Hour, or even Half Life have a static-clangy echoey sound to them. It is quite the disturbing sound to hear and i cant help but think of Michael Keaton in the movie White Noise, but worse sounding static... Anywho I cant simply exit out of the program (Bioshock for example) and restart the program because the sound remains the same. I recently upgraded my system, and my sound card choice from Creative X-FI (which also had the problem) to an ASUS XONAR DX. I had thought this was strictly a sound card issue at the time when I purchased the Xonar last week. I was wrong.
This cant just be a sound card issue can it? Could it be that my 500Watt PSU isnt enough for all my nice new equipment AND my sound card?

Jul 29, 2009I keep getting a yellow exclamation point on windows start navigation sound I can go in and select it and it works for the time it is selected. but as soon as I reboot the yellow exclamation point comes back how do I fix this can someone help me please it annoying and aggravating to have to turn that on all the time. I even did a system restore back to yesterday thinking I did something to it no go still dose it. nothing else broken all works good sound everything just not this one.

May 20, 2008I just upgraded to Vista U x64 and am having sound problems. I have a prelude x-fi sound card but the sound coming out of it is extremely low. I have maxed out every thing I can max (control panel sound, creative panel) and the sound level is whisper quiet. I have also upgraded all my drivers except the prelude's, I would but their website isn't offering those drivers at the moment. But the drivers supplied with the card are vista certified so I should get something. But my mobo, etc is all updated. I have been searching for a solution for two days to no avail.

Mar 23, 2008Ive had no sound since I instaled Vista Im gona try to explain to problem even tho my Vista is in swedish. Anyway when I got to the thing were I choose what kind of sound I wont for exampel "Stereo" (Right and Left speaker) or 5.1-surround. Ive only got 2 speakers so mine is set to Stereo and theres no sound from the right and left speaker. BUT when I try the
square option whit 4 speakers: Right and Left still no sound from but the Back Right and Back Left theres sound.

This Might Sound
Apr 26, 2008I bought a new laptop with vista home premium 32, she set it up as a standard user an now it's impossible to install anything onto computer because the system is still asking for admin. password and even if we know that one (well there haven't been password set up) in that dialog box it's nowhere to write it. How we can make her account changed to administrator?
Only one way I came up with is to use recovery disk set it up differently, well not sure about that and don't fancy it much.
No Sound After Sp1
Jun 20, 2008I installed the service pack 1 and I don't have sound now. I have tried reinstalling my drivers, and all that other mumbo-jumbo from the microsoft page, but I still don't have sound.
I have vista home premium, running on an Acer aspire t180. Does anyone know what I can do, or where I can go to solve this problem? According to my computer, my speakers are working....there is just NO SOUND!
Just No Sound At All
Nov 19, 2008just installed Vista HP 64 bit and it went pretty good, for the most part. I am dual booting w/XP Pro 32 bit, on seperate hard drives. I'm pretty impressed so far. I do have one major problem - no sound at all. Here's my hardware setup: asus p5q pro, Intel c2d e8400, saphire radeon 4850, auzentech x-fi prelude, logitech z-5500, seagate 320gb sata(XP Pro), seagate 640gb sata(vista). soundcard & spkrs. work great in XP. I went to auzen website & d/l latest drivers, drilled down thru all the vista options & menus I could find, checked device mngr.

May 23, 2008I just got a new computer - based on Vista Home Premium, supplied with Creative Inspire 5.1 surround sound speakers and a Realtek sound card. When I enter the soundcard setup pages and test various options, the sound plays fine through all speakers. So there is a link between the computer and the speaker system, and the correct speakers are used as they are tested. But I'm not getting any system sounds playing, and nothing from Media Player when playing music files.
