Big Lag And Stuttering In Games
May 26, 2009In the last couple of days every game I play seems to lag after about 5 mins of game play. This is new and I have never had any problems with lag in my games.

Music Keeps On Stuttering
Sep 29, 2008I'm using Vista x64 Ultimate
Specs:
Asus P5E Mobo (0702 bios *updated*)
Q6600 - 3.2 ghz prime stable
4gb munskin ram (default timings)
USB Headphones Microsoft LX-3000 (most up to date drivers installed)
My music player (WinAMP, iTunes) always stutter when I load a page off any browser (IE7,FireFox,GoogleChrome) after I left my computer on for a long time(4+ hours). I first thought it was ram that was affecting it but I'm not so sure. The longer I left my computer on the more likely it'll stutter, but I can fix about 98% of the stutter by rebooting my computer.
The stuttering only occurs when I load the page, but stops when the page finishes loading. Sites with more pictures will cause more stuttering, and this doesn't happen when I play any games.
Starts This Odd Stuttering In 32-bit
Mar 23, 2008After searching the 'net for months, I have yet to come up with a solution to my dilemma. Here's the deal. I have a Vista Ultimate 32-bit desktop, running an Intel 3.0 GHZ CPU and 1 GB of RAM. Everytime I leave my computer on for hours (typically overnight) it starts this odd, stuttering behavior, where EVERYTHING stops for a split second, every second. Music, mouse, video, EVERYTHING. The entire computer just skips. The only fix I have is turning the power off on the back of the computer, then unplugging and replugging the power cord in. I am positive this is not a great thing for my computer, and I need to find a solution before any real damage is done. This only happens after a long time, and is not after a specific time (i.e. after 3-4 hours EVERY time). I was thinking it could be the RAM, but I don't know.

Jul 30, 2007The sound likes to stutter frequently, about like a lightly scratched CD - just a tiny hesitation every couple of seconds. It's brutally annoying. This happens no matter what media player I use for either audio or video (even when set to realtime priority), and occurs on the internal Sigmatel C-Major AC97 family chip (both with and without external speakers plugged into the headphone jack) as well as on my PCMCIA Creative SoundBlaster Audigy 2 ZS Notebook. I've got the latest drivers for both audio devices, and have also tried rolling back to previous versions.

Apr 10, 2009I can't think of a better way to describe this problem other than to say the PC stutters. I'm using Home Premium (fully patched) with Media Centre as a Home Theatre PC. this is overkill for a HTPC so there shouldn't be any capacity issues in the hardware.
Sometimes when playing back recorded shows the picture and sound start stuttering taking up to 10 seconds elapsed time to go through 2 seconds of recorded show. When this happens the mouse and other facilities (minimise window, etc) also seem to be jerking around instead of operating smoothly. When I play the show back later it is fine so it is not the recording. Also sometimes when recording shows there are blocks that are dropped from the recording that I assume are related to this.
I don't believe this is a Media Centre problem as similar things happen when Media Centre is not running. I have McAffee Total Protection 2009 for a firewall and anti-virus and this shows no viruses and no spyware. I have turned off scheduled scans so this shouldn't be the problem. I have also turned off disk indexing as I don't need it on a HTPC.
Sound Stuttering And Other Audio
Oct 7, 20071) Audio stutters every 30 seconds or so for about 3-4 seconds.
- I've tried updating BIOS, but I get the same "Internal Error" type message everytime, even though it's the correct version that's supposed to be compatible with Vista 64.
- I've tried updating the audio drivers. The only driver that worked was the version that's about 2 releases old because the newer versions all had random errors and didn't work with Vista (even though they said they were supposed to).
- I thought if I turned off some advanced audio processing features it would fix the problem, but I can't get Intel Audio Studio installed because it says "This is not the correct driver for this sysetem" even though it IS.
2) BIOS refuses to update, saying "There is an internal error" or something along those lines. I looked up that error message in Intel's readme and it said it's due to a lack of hard drive space--but I have 450 GB free!.......

May 5, 2009First time posting here so be gentle. I am having difficulties with audio which has stemmed back for some time almost a year before i started buying new hardware to "correct" the problem. I have read over many posts about stuttering/laggy/jittery audio, but none seem to give me an answer. When i play Bioshock, Command and Conquer Generals Zero Hour, or even Half Life have a static-clangy echoey sound to them. It is quite the disturbing sound to hear and i cant help but think of Michael Keaton in the movie White Noise, but worse sounding static... Anywho I cant simply exit out of the program (Bioshock for example) and restart the program because the sound remains the same. I recently upgraded my system, and my sound card choice from Creative X-FI (which also had the problem) to an ASUS XONAR DX. I had thought this was strictly a sound card issue at the time when I purchased the Xonar last week. I was wrong.
This cant just be a sound card issue can it? Could it be that my 500Watt PSU isnt enough for all my nice new equipment AND my sound card?
Play Games Monitor Temps Frame Rate Other Games
Sep 5, 2008just got some games loaded and I used to have ATITray Tools which would let you keep the frame rate and temps in the corner during game play, anything like that for Nvidia? Just ran Quake4 at full specs and had Nvidia performance control panel turn the fan to 90%... but would like to monitor the temps and frame rates on this and other games. 9800GT 1GB. ( as soon as the new card arrives.... back to ATI tools.

I have been having problems with games ever since i built this system. Warcraft 3 plays fine but Halo and BFME crash the computer. The screen goes blank and then locks up after only a few minutes of game play. I have to unplug the machine to reboot. I have tried everything I know. I bought a new large CPU fan that has a speed control and I used a big glob of arctic silver on the cpu. Temps stay around 40C to 48C during use. I have updated all drivers. I have switched memory, tested the memory. Adjusted virtual memory. The only thing I have not tried is to install a new PSU. The one in the system is 750w and all the settings match the game requirements. I have examind the rail reading in bios and they all match the specs. I do not have an additional PSU so I am trying to troubleshoot this without having to get another PSU. I have installed updates to the games, windows, and all hardware. All drivers are windows signed and I only have problems with those two games. I have also pointed a large fan at the case just to see if it is a heat issue and the same thing happens.
Do These Games Run On 64?

Mar 23, 2008I have a client who until recently was able to run MS Games (Freecell, etc)For some unknown reason he can now only run these games by right clicking and running as Administrator. To try and run the games in the normal manner he gets a message "The publisher could not be verified" Strange when it's a Microsoft program. And even when he clicks yes to the message "Are you sure you want to run this software "he still is unable to get the program to run. Some info regarding the system. He is running Vista Home. with all the windows updates. No new software has been installed and the system has been checked for viruses etc. The user was created as an Administrator and he is the only person using this computer. I have tried a System Restore but to no avail. Any ideas as to what may have caused this and how to fix it.

X64 Crashes During Games
Nov 26, 2008I'm new to this forum, but I already some topics that are of some interest to me. I tried to find a solution for my problem, but I couldn't find any... I try to play Warcraft III and Fifa 09 and they bouth crash...Fifa verry fast and Warcraft in 10-15 minutes. The problem is identical - my computer freezes and some pixels go bannanas....i have the latest graphic card driver, recently installed latest DirectX and still no sollution... I used the System Info Tool from this forum, and atached the .txt to this post.

Nov 18, 2008I’ve been playing on my computer for a while and have noticed that whenever I play my games, my computer will freeze and hang up after about a couple minutes of playing into the game. The screen will freeze and whatever sound was playing will loop in the background. I cannot ctrl alt del out of the game and my computer requires a hard restart whenever this happens. I have been looking on some forums about this problem with games freezing and supposedly the fix was swapping the different RAM modules. I tried doing that but it still keeps freezing after playing for a bit. I then used Riva Tuner to turn up the fan on my graphics card to 100% but that did not help either. I have the latest drivers for Vista x64 too. I also tried playing the games in Windows XP (I am running both Vista and XP on my system) but the same thing happens. I then started to think if the 500W power supply was too low so we got a new 650W PSU, but haven’t put it in yet.

Nov 28, 2008Possibly not even a Vista problem, but this seems to be a pretty good resource overall so I was hoping somebody might have an idea what's wrong. I am running a pair of eVGA 7950 GT cards in SLI, no overclock anywhere, and I get a very odd display whenever I get into some kind of 3d game. I have attached a screenshot of HL2; however, this also happens in WoW so it's not game dependant. Any idea how I get rid of this crazy display? You can see there is some ghetto lettering that says SLI in the top left corner, and there is what could best be described as a green histogram along the left edge of the screen that "breathes" as the scene changes.

Apr 23, 2008Im ready to plunge into vista 64/32. My system is up to date 6600 quad cpu, 8 gig, 8800GT (soon to be sli) and yada, yada. I play alot of BF2 mods, RTS (currently playing world in conflict), Crysis and COD4. My worries are drivers and game patches. I would like to go Vista 64, but is 64 good for games? I know I will get hit with frame rate, but hopefully playable frame rate.

Mouse Lag In Games But Not Xp
Jan 23, 2009i have mouse lag problem but ONLY when i'm playing games and ONLY when i'm using Windows Vista or Windows 7.
Under windows xp i have no mouse lag at all :
Now i have installed windows xp sp3, vista ultimate x64 and seven, all the 3 OS with latest driver for mouse and VGA.
My mouse is a logitech G5, my video card ati 4850 and my motherboard abit ip35.
64 Not Stable With Games

TRACKMANIA both tmu and forever,run crap on the 9600gt even with the newest driver,on the bench test fps came back anywhere from 91fps right down to 25fps!! after approx 5 tests then it starts to lock the machine up,have to press ctrl alt delet,then without me doing anything the game takes over and finishes the test,comes up with a low fps,...now if i run it on my low spec card runs 98% better but only at 36.9 fps everytime....
BATTLEFIELD 2 both cards will NOT run this game just flickers and odd looking pic blocks over the top of the screen but you can still see the main pic....thats the main 2 problems i have but for a one i do the odd beta game test can you tell me what is bitdefender antivirus is it apart on vista ? has this blocks me running some beta games testing online,i can not remember putting this on the

Mar 5, 2009I am having problems with my new Vista Machine. Any game I play on it ranging from "Fable-The lost Chapters" to "Call of duty 5-World at War" all freeze. They freeze at random times, it is not constant. Every time It Freezes, I can't do anything but hard reset, also there are no error messages or BSOD. I have checked the ram with memtest and all sticks passed, I checked the ram's timings and voltages, they are set to what the manual and sticker says. I checked the temperatures,everything runs at around 32-40 degrees. I have updated every driver on my rig, and reinstalled Vista, but the problem persists.

Oct 16, 2009To start I bought my desktop machine very recently. Specs: Q8200 Quad Core, 8GB DDR3 Ram, 1 TB HD, ATI Radeon HD 4650 and I am booting a dual monitor system (2x 24 inch LG monitors).
So, these games when played will work perfectly for about 5 minutes and then there are beginnings of sound stutter and then video and sound stutter eventually rendering the game useless to play. After I quit the game, my entire desktop is slow and lagging (eg. selection tool on desktop lags as well as mouse movements). This lag dissappears after about 10 minutes (or doing a full restart). I have looked at many different forums about this and I have done the following (for others that may be having the same problems)
1. Updated directX (there is a forum post about this already)
2. Ran in compatability mode
3. Re-imaged drive
4. installed vista codecs
5. Update to SP1 (came installed for me)
6. Updated BIOS
7. Re-installed/updated video driver
8. Turned down graphics on games
9. Disabled HD Audio (re-enabled because it did not help my problem)
10. Installed and used ATI Catalyst Suite
Old Games Can't Running
Apr 3, 2008I'm sure this question has been asked before. However, is there a way to get older Windows 95, 98 and/or XP programs to run on a Vista computer? I can't even get them to load.
