Win 7 compatible - have used this and deleted all 1200 entries it found. It makes a backup - been running for several hours and reboots with no probs. Also working fine so far on my Vista x64 and Win 7 x86 installs. After cleaning you need to shut the app. and reopen it for it to find it's backups. (Easy to find them by hand - it can compress them to.7z files, too ). Have used their regdefrag a lot - identical scans and results to the Auslogics and Glary versions- so use whichever defragger you already have. WARNING: not recommended to defrag registry across drives.

Jun 10, 2010Vista Home Premium 64-bit Since I started using a registry cleaner program (Advanced SystemCare Professional), I've noticed that every once in a while the system will go through two startups. The first startup begins normally, but then after the Welcome screen there's a pause of several seconds. Then a window pops up in the upper left corner of my screen that says "setting up personalized settings" followed by "msiexec /fuo {product ID} /qn". There's a second window that appears right after that but it disappears before I can read it. The system then goes through what appears to be a normal shutdown, and then immediately restarts a second time, and from that point on everything seems fine.
This doesn't happen at every startup. I'm pretty sure it has something to do with Advanced SystemCare, but I can't pinpoint the cause. The anomaly disappears if I disable all of ASC's automated functions. It's not a critical problem, but it has aroused my curiosity. I'd welcome any insights anyone can offer.

But I've got some issues with Vista and I swear it's from leftover software installations - such as SQL 2008 beta. I don't want to reinstall Vista because it's a pain in the butt. Are there any registry cleaners that are recommended as safe?

I bought this computer back in april. after I bought it I purchased a new program called Advanced System Optimizer. When I google for information on a quality utility program this program had very high recommendations. I also have Fit-It utilities 7 and an older version of System Mechanic. My computer is running slower now and I know it needs cleaning up. The last time months ago right after I purchase Advance System Optimizer I ran the registry cleaner and it reeked havok on my system. I called the company and they told me their program I purchased was not designed for 64bit systems. Of course they didn't refund my money. Question is: My computer needs cleaning up I can tell it is running slower than it used to. What utility program is out there that will work on my system. Nov 13, 2009I am using this program to clean up my registry and it seems to work fine except the errors keep coming back. I can do a scan, clean up all the errors and then shut down and start up and I have a new 20 registry error list and most or all of the errors relate to "bad path for the value" and its windows files that seem to be at fault. I don't understand why Microsoft operating system would create registry errors on a startup, before anything has been installed etc. is RegistryBooster misleading me or what. I am running win7 but it did the same thing on vista home premium so I think the question is valid for this group.

Jul 5, 2008I'd like to upgrade PCs from my family to Vista (2 PC).
I also have to precise I regularly change PCs configuration : ex. I rebuilt completly one of the PC to put a big graphic card (for Games): the mother board and connectic were so old I had to change almost everything (box, mother board, new wireless PCI card.) The only things that didn't changed were the screen, the keyboard and the mouse.
Knowing this, what do you recommend : Vista OEM or the DVD pack?
And to be complete, is there somewhere reliable information with differences and possiblities of all Vista version (number of installation, what can be changed, what can't be changed in PC in order to reinstal, etc.)
AVG 9.0 Not Recommended
Mar 13, 2010In the past I had no problem recommending AVG Free 8.5, however I cannot recommend the version 9.0 because of apparant problems. A couple of days ago I downloaded AVG Free 9.0, uninstalled v8.5, installed v9.0 and went thru the settings; most were left as default. This AM while on the internet, the AVG scan started, that is when the problems started. I attempted to go from Yahoo home page to Yahoo mail. I was unable to redirect and IE8 showed (Not Responding) but yet system tray internet connection showed as still being connected.
I of course did the diagnose internet connection, it would not return a result so I ended both it and IE. I then attempted to open the user interface from the system tray, unable to do so. Attempted to stop process but it was not evan showing up in Applications. About the only thing I could do was restart the computer and do the uninstall upon load up.
Did not reinstall v8.5 because daughters computer while this was going on, was asking for a restart from AVG automatically downloading and installing v9.0. It would appear for whatever reason while performing the scan, it takes control of the computer instead of in the past allowing you to set priority, unless there is a setting that needs to be changed.

- all drivers since 2.0.0.125 result in very slow performance (~ 30 kbps)
- virtually every day the adapter stops working. Usually the LED is off & no error is logged, but device needs to be replugged to reactivate. Occasionally a reboot is needed.................
